Fly With Me
Dr. Julie Ducharme speaks with Teresa Martin a Women’s Health and Hospice Nurse, Associate Therapist, and author of poetry and prose who discusses her life experiences and highlights them in her most recent book, Fly with Me: One Woman's Leap into a Life of Love and Joy. Teresa Martin RN, MS, AMFT Teresa Martin is a Women’s Health and Hospice Nurse, Associate Therapist, and Author of poetry and prose.  She gives you what she has — her story.  Teresa is dedicated to the experiences of women, their health, and how their stories transform the world. Her recent publication Fly with Me: One Woman's Leap into a Life of Love and Joy, reflects what Teresa desperately needed to discover during a period of darkness in her life: What does it really look like and feel like, to change your life? She didn't want anecdotes - she wanted the real feelings, the real answers. What she found was a process that worked for her to change her life and leap into a life of love and joy. She gives you her gift of vulnerability on each page, so that you may become more comfortable with your own. So that you too, may leap into your life of love and joy. Teresa's past work has been published by the American Psychological Association's Magination Press, Cambridge University Press, BraughlerBooks, and Cordella Magazine. Excerpts from Fly with Me have been reprinted by the American Nurses Association of California, the American Nurses Association's HealthyNurse HealthyNation, and Nurse.org. She has been featured in podcasts, performed poetry readings for audiences near and far, and loves to make book club appearances to share in the journey to joy. Teresa currently lives in Los Angeles with her partner of over thirty years, two young adult children, their beloved dog Harley and of course lots of boards and books. She is always up for joining the ladies to surf gentle waves or fine-tune a good tale over a strong cup of coffee. Her next adventures include a comedic tale co-authored with Dishongh Scavo Barte about caregiving, called Gertie's Guide (2022). She's also putting together the trip of a lifetime to the Himalayas to live and learn with the Kung Fu Nuns.  Contact her at TeresaMartinINK.com.

The Happy Bean Project
The Happy Bean Project takes a simple concept of connecting though coffee and furthers that connection into pairing people living on the street and people suffering with mental health issues to resources that are already available. We are a 501c3 nonprofit veteran operated charitable coffee project. We currently have a funding coffee trailer located at 111 Plantation Dr Lake Jackson Texas, that helps fund our outreach events in Harris County and our community events in Brazoria County. Our team of volunteers go to homeless shelters, mental health facilities and the streets to serve coffee food, clothing and hygiene donations. Through coffee we are able to show those in need that we care about them. Giving them hope and a person to talk to while sipping coffee. The goal is to save lives. To help prevent suicide and to get people talking about mental health through coffee. As we grow, we are dedicated to connecting local veterans, people suffering with mental health issues and people without homes with a network of mental health resources and any other services they may need. This starts by serving quality coffee and forming strong relationships in the community. https://thehappybeanproject.com/

Dr. Ducahrme speaks with Ilana Jankowitz. She was born and raised in South Africa where I grew up with 3 older brothers and one younger. We lost our dad when I was just 14  which made it very difficult for my mom to be able to provide for us all. I recall my mom working 2 jobs to try and make ends meet, but often heard her crying late at night because she wasn’t able to pay all the bills. When we had a celebration of some kind, my mom used to get my cousins to bring the food to our house. I went to birthday parties with very small gifts for my friends. I felt that I did not fit in and embarrassed by our situation. I was not dressed as well as my friends or had the toys they had. We did not have anything luxurious. I felt poor. When I married and started a family of my own, I wanted a different life for my children. I overcompensated dramatically, always buying them the latest toys and designer clothes, throwing elaborate birthday parties and taking them on super expensive holidays. I had no idea about keeping a budget and was always overspending. My credit cards were often maxed out and we had no savings for a rainy day. When our kids were 5 and 7, my husband took a contract in Europe and we moved to Luxembourg. Feeling guilty about uprooting the children and taking them away from their home, family, and friends I sought to appease it by overspending. So the pattern continued. Every time a credit card statement arrived in the post, my husband and I would get into a fight. “The amount on the statement is a limit, not a target,” he would tell me. I was told to keep a budget but I barely knew what that meant or how to do it. Some months he didn’t want to get into another fight with me so would let it go. I saw this as my opportunity to shop again and would then hide the purchases from him.   http://www.mindfulmoneycoaching.com/
