From a young age, girls are often taught to prioritize others needs over their own and to suppress their own emotions in favor of maintaining a pleasant demeanor. But what happens when these expectations become a burden, and women are forced to navigate a world that values toughness and assertiveness over softness and vulnerability? Join us as we explore the complex and often fraught relationship that women have with their 'softness.'

Considering the fact that the Authentically Us, The Podcast visionaries are both social workers..In this episode we wanted to acknowledge social work, what it has done for us, where we are at in this stage of our career and the after grad school blues. On this episode, we talk about the "Cancel Culture" and how it has an affect on mainly the black community. The threat of being canceled is a real and toxic issue. We are all human and people should be able to learn and grow from their mistakes. However, the brands and people who deserved to be canceled, aren't. There are so many ways we can create change firstly from our own mindsets and what 'we' tolerate from others. The fear of cancellation should not stop people from being themselves!

On this episode we have another special guest with us! AUTP welcomes Ryn's Rm! Ryan has his own podcast called Ryan's room, which you can find it on youtube and streaming platforms @Ryns_rm. During this episode, we code-switching on many different levels from working in the office and in our interpersonal relationships as well. Code-switching can be exhausting, however, as we get further into the discussion we find that it is necessary to adapt to our situation and it is a skill that can be done with tact.

We all agree that dating in this new generation is G.H.E.T.T.O. There is a meme that says "Dating is a lot like playing 'duck, duck, goose,' sometimes you gotta be ready to RUN!" If that ain't the TRUTH. The dating scene can be very frustrating, complicated and a mess, especially if you are just getting back into it. The most common form of dating has become online dating, since COVID-19. Research shows that three in every ten adults has used a dating app or website. However, online dating comes with a whole set of potential mishaps.

In this episode, we welcome our first guest of the year, Ariana aka Ari, as we dive deep into our past and present relationships. Chelsea also asks a few questions using the card game "Let's Get Deep." These random questions came from the 'deeper' pile of the game and they specifically asked about relationships and real life experiences pertaining to the relationships we have had/currently are dealing with. "Relationships are not easy. They have problems that come in many shapes and forms. Hello #AUTP fam, EP.12 is titled: Black Excellence (Social Workers Edition). In this episode, we took a different approach when it came to interviewing. A few of our colleagues were graduating from grad school with their Masters Degree in Social Work and we gathered together to celebrate them. Being that we were in a room full the social workers (with the exception of one other professional). We decided “hey, why not interview them/ask a few questions while we’re all together?” Even though it was a function; the vibes were so right and it was only right to do it! Honestly, this episode was really for memory purposes, but we decided to share it with you all because there were so many gems and everyone said that it was fine :D We plan to have those who are on this episode and more on the podcast at a later time, individually.
