●A state of emergency has been declared for 11 areas in Japan. There will be many changes in the schedule of transportation in some areas. We would like to introduce some of those changes.
During a state of emergency, the timetables of transportation may be different from the information on the internet or the usual train schedule.
Be aware of those changes especially if you are planning to go out or take several trains.
●About Shinkansen, Limited Express trains and airplanes
The number of Tokaido shinkansen is now reduced by 10% throughout the day.
The number of ‘Narita Express’ for going to Narita airport, ‘Limited Express Haruka’ for going to Kansai International Airport, and other limited express trains running across areas will be reduced as well.
Special trains for tourists are reduced or canceled.
Also, the number of airplanes is reduced.
●Tokyo Metropolitan Area: About Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba and Tochigi
From the 20th of January, the time of the last train will be earlier.
Depending on lines, some last trains will run 10-30 minutes earlier than usual.
For example, the last trains will be earlier in 11 JR East lines, including Yamanote line, Keihin Tōhoku line, Chūō line, and Sōbu line.
The subway will also change the time of the last train. In addition, many trains will change their timetables.
●Kansai area: About Osaka, Kyoto, and Hyogo
The number of trains are reduced.
For example, the number of subways in Osaka is reduced during the late-night hours.
●In other areas, the number of trains may also be reduced or the train schedule may be changed.
We are not sure about the changes in the bus schedules.
