From December 1961 through early March 1962, I participated in the 16th Chilean Expedition to the Antarctic. In recognition of my work, the US Board of Geographic Names in October, 1964, named the geographical feature Cohen Islands, located at 63° 18' S. latitude, 57° 53' W. longitude in the Cape Legoupil area, Antarctica, in my honor. I think the 4 months I spent “on the ice” were perhaps the most exciting—and challenging—of my life. They involved episodes of high adventure, many of which I captured in my book Cold Blood: The Antarctic Murders Trilogy. The instant volume, The Antarctic Chronicles, is intended as a distillation of the trilogy’s more exciting stories, comprising tales of mystery, mayhem, and murder in South America and the Antarctic. Like the making of great cognac, wherein wine is double distilled in an intense process unique to this variety of brandy, I have selected for publication here those stories I think will give you, the reader, the best understanding of what scientists and explorers face when attempting to work on the Frozen Continent.

In 1965 Fate released the first book in its bestselling “Strange” series, reprinting many of the publication’s most acclaimed reports of paranormal phenomena selected from its pages. Over the next ten years the “Strange” books sold over 6,000,000 copies worldwide.
Strange True Encounters & Unearthly Experiences is the first new book in the series in over three decades, and features: Robert M. Schoch, Ph.D. in Geology and Geophysics at Yale University on discoveries at Anatolia‘s Gobekli Tepe suggesting civilization is far older than previously believed. Gregory Sams on unfolding evidence that stars may be conscious. Janet Brennan on Europe’s mysterious Black Madonna statues. Martin Cadin, ex-member Federal Aviation Administration, on his personal experiments using telekinesis.
Michio Kaku, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the City University of New York, on our ten-dimensional universe and paranormal phenomenon. Journalist Chris Friar on 19th century UFO sightings proving they are not a modern phenomenon. Actor Anthony Quinn on the “profound mystical experience” in the Sinai Desert that changed his life.
Plus over a dozen other accounts, investigation and in-depth reports on the Ouija board, remote viewing, poltergeists, Kansas’ sacred sites, the U.S. warship that was saved by an angel, and much more. We believe this brand-new entry in the “Strange” series – is in every way the equal of its predecessors. And will prove every bit as entertaining and enlightening as the earlier books did.
(Asked where he got the ideas for his stories, Steven King credited Fate. “My mother used to read me Fate Magazine, which was about the paranormal, flying saucers…all that stuff. I was fascinated.”)

A COLLECTION OF STORIES ABOUT WOMEN-LOVING WOMEN GETTING ACQUAINTED, FALLING IN LOVE, LOSING THEIR ILLUSIONS, AND REGAINING HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
Although most of this collection fits loosely into the category of contemporary erotic romance, there is some historical fiction, some fantasy, and a ghost story. I’m never sure exactly where ghosts fit in because all fiction is believable on some level, and completely unreal by definition. People have a spectrum of beliefs about unseen spirits—and about deep soul connection, for that matter—and belief can waver from one moment to the next.
Regarding gender, all the major characters in these stories are women. Never fear, the men don’t take over. Our progress is currently challenged by a rising tide of hate toward everyone who is not a heterosexual white man in the top income bracket, but just as an exuberant bag of popcorn can’t return to being a handful of kernels, lesbians or queer women aren’t likely to go back to the invisibility of yesteryear.
What can be imagined can’t be unseen. Welcome to the world of Jean Roberta's imagination.

The year was 1943. Steve Daniels was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps, on loan to the British, flying a reconnaissance mission over occupied France. After being shot down, he had to make his way back to England with what could prove to be a very important reel of film taped to his chest. He had been wounded, so he was grounded and sent back to the States to the Air Cadet Base in San Antonio, Texas to teach. Plagued by nightmares stemming from his wartime experiences, he was easy pickings for a woman like his commander’s wife—beautiful, restless, and the wrong kind of woman for him. What happened when they got together would be nothing less than murder.

Presenting six stories involving science and its interaction with the human psyche. Included are elements of mystery, horror, whimsy, fantasy, touches of romance, and some technology run amuck. From the story of a group of elder humans hoping to ride to the stars, an AI system taking its programming too literally, and a young woman who can really take charge, to a story that will have you watching the night sky in case an ovoid spaceship appears, each story stretches reality beyond the norm and shows how our qualities as humans have to take charge. And a few of these stories will leave you with that shivering feeling that the story isn’t quite over.

David Morrissey's life is near-perfect. A widower with a teenage daughter, he teaches at an ultraconservative Southern preparatory school, had been voted Teacher of the Year three times, and is engaged to the daughter of the chairman of the school's board.
That life comes to a screeching halt when the fact of his previous employment is emblazoned across the headlines of the school newspaper … that twenty years before, everyone's favorite teacher was a cover model famous for those hot historical romances called "bodice rippers."
David isn't ashamed of his former employment. He simply considers it part of a different life and never mentions it. It's even on his application. The school board takes a jaundiced view, however, if a trifle belatedly. In short order, he loses his job, his fiancée, and has television and newspaper reporters beating down his door for interviews.
It's all just a little unfair.
David isn't taking it sitting down, however. He's preparing to fight back against the board's decision. Little does he know that this newsworthy event will bring back into his life the woman he loved and lost, and another much bigger, more important secret.
