Adam and Tim wax deep about our dear friend Rob Swift - an exceptional and gifted guitar player who loves the six string so much he started Galt Guitar Shop in Cambridge Ontario just to be surrounded by them all the time!
A pillar of the Toronto music scene in the early 2000s, both Adam and Tim have had the honour of sharing both stage and studio with Rob in the band North Star Jack. As regulars of venues like The Horseshoe, and dabblers in the early days of digital home recording, Rob's talent shows that no matter what changes happen in the music world, great guitar playing and tone never go out of style.
There is no way to sugar coat something like this so we'll just say it. Right now Rob and his family need love and assistance - Rob has terminal cancer. He, his wife Sam, and their kids can use support, so please be sure to head to their Gofundme page and make a contribution here at this link. After you hit that, be sure to share their gofundme page with as many friends and family as you can.
So along with some pictures from ye olden days of NSJ, we have also posted both North Star Jack albums to our site here for free so you can actually download these to your music blower of choice, and hear what we mean when we say Rob Swift is the best!!!

Hey you magnificent beasts!
We apologise for the somewhat lengthy delay - we've been working hard to get a month's worth of stellar chatter into one, ridiculously long (but fun and informative) episode.
Consider this our "Double-Live" album - our "Brutality Remains The Same", our "AB Alive!", our "Adam Comes Alive", our "Welcome Back My Friends, to the Tim that Never Ends" .... you get the picture.
We had loads of catching up and tonnes of tricks/tips/dad jokes to share with you fantastic humans, so we ran longer than usual, but hey; you deserve more of us.
Listen all the way to the end and see how Brian Eno's cards are no longer simply studio cards to get you out of a musical rut, but may actually have a direct, unseen link to your very psyche......or at least ours. Spooky!Mentioned in this episode:
Spaceman - Bif Naked
Go Into The Night - Gabrielle Papillon
Surfin' JFK - Beg To Differhttps://begtodiffer2.bandcamp.com/track/surfin-jfk
Plus, we spoke of "Haymaker" by NLX, which you can find on Tim's site:https://timvandeven.com/drums-a-la-distance
And you're going to just have to wait for the Megan Rose track......trust us; it will be worth it. We'll probably dedicate an entire episode to it.

This episode is completely dedicated to the well-known, well-respected, and well-travelled violinist, producer, writer, and composer Briga (AKA Brigitte Dajczer).
For a change, we shut our word-holes and let Briga tell us what's-what. We cover topics such as production, recording, music in the gaming industry, and what it's like to be talented woman working in a field so over-represented by men.
We even nerd-out on gear, plug-ins, and microphones; Briga gives us tips and tricks of the trade.
You should have your favourite libation (vodka, whisky, or otherwise) nearby as there is a bit of a game to play in this episode: take a shot every time Tim mentions that he's worked with Briga - it's fun! See if you're still sober at the end of the episode! Adam recommends that you have your designated driver at the ready.
Sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy! This episode is a little longer than some of the others; Briga was very generous with her time and her talents. Here is her website: BRIGA Arrivé

In this interview we talk to Colin Kelday, better known as Quick Kick, an electronic artist and composer from Toronto, Canada. Colin was born into the cataclysmic collision of punk, and grew up sliding along the shores of psychedelia. After emerging from the slumber of suburbia, he embarked on a career that has lead from playing hostile house parties to opening for major influences like Pop Will It Itself, co-producing the final album of Canadian alt-rock royalty The Watchmen, and scoring the cult hit film How to Be Deadly.

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!
Adam goes full-Hollywood!
Well, maybe not full Hollywood, but he does share some of his experiences with his recent voice-over recording work involving a major celebrity, a major studio, and major internet bandwidth problems.
Adam and Tim talk about voice-over work from both sides of the mic, where they have been the recordists and sometimes, the recorded.
Tips and trickery abound!
PLUS
Bonus Gord Clement chit-chattery!
A salvaged outtake from our first-ever Gratuitous Interview, originally snipped due to time constraints, sees the light of day as Tim waxes nostalgic with Gord about their shared time at the same high-school and their unending love and respect for a music teacher that changed their lives (hopefully, for the better).
So grab this episode, jam it on your phone or other portable device, and get ready to learn, laugh, and maybe....even love.

It's a brand-spanking New Year so it's time to take down your Xmas lights and get spanking!
We regale you, the listener, with our episode dedicated to the magnificent splendour that that is the 45 RPM record: "Stars on 45". We talk of the love of the "lost B-side", the joys of the 12 inch EP, how artists hid musical treats for their fans pre-digital, and how AM radio frequently flipped the 45 over to create monstrous hits.
And, in an Audible Brutality first, we draw the winner of our Xmas Song contest. Xmas might be over, but we still feel like Santa.
The winner will receive some seriously sexy swag, suitable for coffee, tea, or other noxious liquids of his/her/their choosing. Or simply stare dreamily at the two handsome devils that adorn your prize; either way, it's all up to the winner (we will announce who it is at the end of the episode).
We are still looking for your "dead songs" from days gone by, as well as your input, your feedback, and perhaps a rating or three on iTunes and Spotify (every little bit helps).
Check out the new t-shirts in our Swag-Shop! Avoid the Xmas rush and get yours today! Some of the music mentioned in this episode: "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do?" - Led Zeppelin
"Here Comes Your Man" - The Pixies
"How Soon Is Now?" - The Smiths

What can we say about our friend Jeff Heisholt? He's a skilled and creative Canadian musician and keyboardist, who can definitely be considered a true ‘working’ player in the Toronto music scene. He’s spent the last 20 years on the road, throwing down mad ivory playing skills with bands and artists such as The Trews, Peter Elkas, Terra Lightfoot, Skydiggers, and Burt Neilson Band.
We were really excited to sit down with Jeff and discuss his new synthesizer project ‘Current Fantasy’, a project he streams regularly to his Facebook channel, that while all 'Jeff', definitely channels many of his own musical heroes like 808 State, Aphex Twin, The Orb and Tangerine Dream.
We also talk about growing up in a small town, following the musicians touring dream, G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), accretion (bless you), and how recording and playing shows has changed in the middle of a pandemic.
