Still great
I’ve been listening since 2020, I started from the first episode. I have always loved the “Fortean” stuff. They do great and extensive research. I feel like the people complaining about episodes being too long or there being too much info just might not be into those specific topics. I will be a fan til the end!

Best Paranormal Show Around
This is truly a show that stands the test of time. I’ve been listening for years and still eagerly awaiting new episodes. I really appreciate the balanced perspective and thoroughness of this show, even if it makes for long episodes. The story telling is evocative without being sensational. I enjoy it when Scott and Forrest cover new topics, as well as offer insightful perspectives into well-loved ones. Thank you all at astonishing legend for making my commute relaxing and thoughtful.

Comfort show
This is pretty much a pick-your-own-adventure pod, no need to drudge through topics you don't jive with- when it's good it's good! Been listening for 7 years 🛸

High quality
I’ve been listening since the very early days of the show and can’t believe I never left a review. This show is so well researched and has great production quality. I feel like Scott and Forest and old friends at this point. I cannot recommend this show enough. You’ll learn a lot and have a great time doing it.

Been listening since 2017 and won’t be stopping!

Cannot get to the point.
I can’t believe I wasted an hour on this garbage. These guys cannot get to the point. On mela hole I learned more about fax machines, coast to coast, names of towns bridges and people in Washington. But very little about the actual subject. What a waste!
Fooled listener.
Long time listener - this is a quality podcast
So many self important people leaving reviews saying that their time is so valuable (really? You're listening to a podcast!) and the butthurt MAGAts getting upset when anyone presents real facts and whine on and on about the hosts being to political. Give me a break. You call anything political if it has even the slightest basis in facts and reality - you have to, because in order to be in the butthurt MAGAt cult, you have to suspend belief and all semblance of common sense. Yes, they can be a bit long winded, but they are journalists who dive deep into a topic. If you have the attention span of a gnat and don't listen to podcasts to relax, then no, you won't like this podcast, but to think you are so special and will be missed - here's a hint - you won't be. I, along with many long time listeners, appreciate this podcast and since I've started listening in 2015 to now, have seen them weather and withstand whiners like these latest few negative reviewers by staying true to long form investigative looks at a topic and maintaining a strong following. I look forward to their new episodes. If you are interested in a balanced and in depth review of the paranormal, you'll likely like AL. Good riddance to those fools!

Too Long Winded
Many of the topics sound good, but get buried under the considerable amount of just useless OR repetitive info. Rarely does a topic need more than 2 Parts or 2 Hrs, but that’s what many get. The hosts’ egos have grown along with the show, and their Political views often get thrown in at the expense of the story. Just give us the facts & the story… not endless banter that can be done on your own time. Six 2 HR Episodes on the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film? Resurrection Mary Parts 1-4?? No Thank You.

Love their voices and research but....
I kinda wish they'd get to the point. They get off track and the story goes all over the place. Sometimes it makes it hard to follow.

Going downhill
Early episodes are great; recent ones rambling and tough to listen to. Overall quality of podcast has declined with increase in the focus on the presenters. Just present the topic and discuss. Far too much random banter and self-fluffing.

Just get to the topic
Want to like your show- lots of fascinating topics but hard to slug thru all of the seemingly endless banter.

Thorough, excellent
I decided to stop listening to “true crime” a couple years ago, it’s taken some time to break the habit but astonishing legends has really taught me what intelligent reporting about interesting topics can look like. It’s taken me a few years to understand what “ethical podcasting” could be and this show is a shining example. The hosts truly just tell the truth of the reported story and constantly remind you where their research came from. I used to not like podcasts with long interviews but AL has completely changed me in that respect, they want you to know the story from the source whenever possible, their guests and interviews are so interesting and give so much to the story. I just started some of the older episodes and made it to the “Sallie house” episode, when they announce theres an interview that’s OVER AN HOUR I thought I couldn’t do it, but that interview with Debbie and Tony was so fascinating I could have listened for several more hours. Love the show guys, thank you.

Disappointed
Twenty minutes into a one hour and twenty minutes they and instead of starting the topic FINALLY they pull an ad break. It took them twenty seven minutes or over a third of the episode to start. My recommendation is go find some other podcast that respects your time.

Astonishing Legends
At a gathering of family and friends the question was posited, ‘What ONE item would you take with you to a deserted island’? After much collective thought, debate and overall hilarity, my sister chose an eyelash curler. My answer now, hands down would be some way to listen to Astonishing Legends. I laugh out loud and am completely smitten and grateful for everybody’s efforts to make this podcast possible. AL has entertained and helped me navigate the doldrums during lockdown and has made me feel like one of the cool kids.

One of the 1st podcast I listen to been hooked every since! If you like the paranormal this is your jam

Couldn’t listen past the ads
Five pre-roll ads had me tuning out immediately. If you want to grow your show and have people engaged and listening, you gotta drop those ads. I’m not gonna sit through five advertisements to find out whether I like your show or not.

Fun!
Love the conversations! Interesting & fun, this is a podcast I can leave on while working at home or walking at the park, does not matter which episode... each one great!
Yakyram63
Truly astonishing! Definitely legendary!
Absolutely Love the show, I started binge listening all the episodes this last year! Found this podcast while waiting for a similar podcast to air it’s newest show. Saying I’m hooked is an understatement! Theses guys are great, great delivery of the topics and awesome comedic Reliefe and banter between the 2. I love the impressions! Keep up the great topics and work you put into the show!!!!

Long time listener for years
I’ve been listening to AL for years and have caught up on all their episodes. Their discussion on the paranormal is so fun to listen to! I wasn’t even that interested in paranormal stuff before listening to their podcast, but their deep dives and banter hooked me. They’ve spoiled me for other podcasts now since they do so much research in comparison to other pods who barely scratch the surface.

Fun- but be familiar with the topic
These guys have great chemistry and do a good job of analyzing the topic. I’ve been a listener for years. My only complaint is that I often have to read the wiki of their topic before listening. They simply don’t tell the story of what they’re talking about is an easy to follow manner. They reference things that will happen later, skip back to parts they told earlier or fragment the story so much you miss what they’re talking about. I really think they should start every episode with something like a 5 minute summary of what happened and then go into more detail. It would make the show much easier to follow and much more satisfying.

Maybe let the guests talk?
I think the host just likes to hear his own voice.

This used to be my favorite podcast
I used to love this podcast. Their stories like Knights of the Golden Circle were the best. They seem to have gotten away from that type story which is a really a shame. I wish they would return to this way of doing their podcasts but I understand they need to do what’s best for them.

Wonderful

Insufferable
TL;DR of junk drawer 020: A woman who thinks she sees gnomes comes on the podcast to process through her terrible past relationships and living spaces, all while her dog sounds like it’s tap dancing in the background because its nails are so long.

Long Time Listener, 1st Time Reviewer
Never have written a podcast review. Only doing this, with hopes Scott and Forrest read them. I have been listening since the Fermi Paradox. I have loved this podcast until the last year or so. Just cant do it anymore. I listen to the newest dropped episode, only to be disapointed. They pick excellent topics, but bore listeners to death with the delivery. They insist on giving boring history lessons on everything. Also spend the 1st 40 minutes talking about themselves. Just deliver! I love history, but I listen to Astonishing Legends to hear, well, an Astonishing Legend. Their reviews are excellent, so I understand I must be the minority. Podcast literally makes me fall asleep. Used to scare me awake.

AMAZING
My Husband and I love you guys! Never change. Our #1 podcast we listen to.

Day one listener here. Everything has fallen off.
I have loved almost everything you guys have done from the very beginning, oak island and kgc are your flagship podcasts in my opinion. I’m not sure if you have runout of interesting topics and our time but we have never gotten a jfk series that you teased way back in the day. The stories told by people are pretty worthless most of them are just lame anecdotal stores that mean nothing to the listener just the teller. The historical legends is where it is at. You should get back to these. The fact that you dedicated six episodes to Patterson gimlin is kind of insane we need more of that depth on other topics. Please go back to your roots of telling us cool stories.

I don’t even know anymore
Man this has been a whirlwind of a podcast for me. Originally (a couple years ago) I remember stumbling on it, disliking it based off the long opening of just what seemed like just dronning on and on without even getting on a topic after X amount of time. Then I stumbled on it again(after forgetting the original listening experience) and picking an episode that I really enjoyed. And really liking it. Binging on it then rediscovering my review, and feeling embarrassed. Now fast forward a couple years and I’m really torn on where I sit with the podcast. Scott and Forest do some really phenomenal research. But over the last year the off topic bantering has become ridiculous, and I notice how there There seems to be a lot of repitition. I think one episode I honestly had to double check because I thought I accidentally rewound it, but nope. So I’d love to see it edited down a bit, or maybe an do an outline? Maybe they do but they roll off of it? Like the recaps in the episodes of earlier topics in the same episode, are not needed. It’s also is tough because most topics are presented in two to three parts, each at least an hour and a half long, sometimes 3. It’s produced biweekly so if it’s a topic I’m not to into and can’t get into, it could end up being a month and a half of zero content. And It’s tough for me to dive into a topic I’m not into, where there’s 45 mins of bantering before we even Get into the topic I don’t have a huge interest in anyway. I do try, but quickly loose interest, Especially on top of the bantering, repetition, and just trailing off. The last episode I was really digging into, which was of Frederick Valentich, which was back in January of 2020. There are a lot of good episodes and great info. But lately it’s just been off for me. Maybe I used to be able to pick and choose which ones I want to listen to. Take care and good luck!

Can’t do it anymore
I really, really tried to like this podcast, but I just can’t do it anymore. The actual content is fantastic - when they actually get to it that is. It’s the never ending, mindless, circular banter that has frustrated me into abandoning this podcast. Their research is well done and their storytelling is great, it’s just a shame the banter is so profuse. It feels like only 20% of any given episode is actual material. I will gladly come back if episodes become more curated and banter free.

rob is lame
rob is fat and woke. please exclude him from any future podcasts so i can enjoy non-annoying people talk. ufos are fake and stupid but it’s at least more interesting without that woketard constantly complaining about stupid crap.

Great information - Poorly organized
Drives me crazy that they jump into background information without letting us know what the event is. This organizational choice leaves the listener out of a lot of interesting connections. It feels like an inside joke that the listener is not in on for half an hour. This would be a lot more interesting if scattered throughout, or just begun after an outright and explicit introduction. Think about your audience!

Everything is Connected
This show is top-notch. Well-produced and researched. Listening as these two gentlemen have both honed their skills, and developed their views over time has been a pleasure. Thank you for the episode on The Vertical Plane, since my first listen, I had been searching for a copy, and just yesterday I realized that the episode webpage had a link to an affordable, second edition copy, which I quickly purchased. Keep up the great work! Everything is connected! - Maxwell

Master Story-Telling —used to be
“Melbun”11-2022 Update - Disappointed with the twice-a-month new frequency, I took a year off from listening all the while supporting the podcast through Patreon. I never got to listen to an ad-free episode (could not figure out the RSS) and I used to not mind until they loaded annoying ads —way too many! Still, that would be okay if it weren’t for all the listener stories. They used to do amazing interviews which they would then edit and replay as a clip, but now they’ve gotten lazy. It seems to be more all about what Scott (the bearded one) thinks is trendy and convenient. I hope the show turns around, leaves the fruitless experimentation of 2022 in the past— I want very much to give this show five stars… but not for now. [Also, Rob Christofferson is not an expert on anything— he’s a bit annoying.] (This written circa 2020->) Just want to convey my great appreciation for these great couple of hosts, always charismatic, interested and taken by the lore of these legends but not to the point of losing reasonable doubts and expressing them. I especially love the multi-part stories like the Mothman & Skin-walker Ranch (The YETI is in a class of its own!)--just amazing! Lots of podcasts will do an episode with cursory overview, but don't know of one like this which goes neck deep into the stories --they actually read the books, do research but with no pretense --they just have the same questions we do. Also, love the special sound effects that enhance the episodes and love the way they always finish an episode!

Best podcast out there!
The hosts are intelligent and always research their subjects in depth. Many of the stories are original, or offer an interesting take on a well-known topic. Great editing and interviews make it a must-listen to.

AMAZING podcast!!!!
I have been a devoted listener for many, many years and I absolutely love it. Hosts Scott and Forrest do deep dives into astonishing legends and topics of all sorts. Thats my favorite aspect of their approach. If you love to explore subjects like this, Astonishing Legends is the best one out there IMO.

Can’t you guys do content that is a little more original? God, Micah Hanks has been beating this story about the whistleblower to death for the last three weeks. It’s really not that earth shattering. God, I’m glad I don’t pay for this content!!!

Great!
Thank you for the well researched strange, unexplained and spooky stories! Your good humor is a bonus, and the podcast is fun to listen to! I’ve listened since a few episodes in (and of course binged the ones I missed.) The first few years were outstanding and I still subscribe and look forward to new episodes! 🎨👻🫣 Scott and Forrest motivated me to dig up the spooky art stories that are out there and start my own podcast—thanks guys!
