There is no world in which Ruth can hate Naomi, therefore there is no world in which the church can be anything but a thankful and faithful friend to the Jewish people. In addition to her read on the evangelicals, Batya ended on the right note. Put off this “poor me! I’m oppressed nonsense.” It’s a lie. Get on your feet, get next to real friends, and get in the battle. In addition, to those who are having trouble breaking up with the socialism, and the social liberalism of the left. I would point you to the experience of the Israelis themselves. They tried socialism. It failed (like everywhere it has been tried), and pivoted to free markets. Now the country’s economy has boomed. They have leaned into traditional family arrangements and a positive/optimistic disposition towards their Nation. Now they are the only western nation to be above replacement rate. Trust reality! Bad ideas fail! Good ones don’t! Good people are good people because of how they live not because of how they were born. Zionism, free markets, and traditional time tested values that all find their root in Jerusalem. And this party has believed this for longer than most have been alive. Did I mention she reads her bible, loves her momma and wants to have a yard full of kids? Seems like a no brainer to me young man! Lean in and let’s go win again!

Haviv, I listen to this podcast because of your insights, but the episode with Van Jones, you gave him centerstage, and he gave us an incredible lesson and reminder of why the Jewish community still has work to do in supporting our black community here in America. Excellent and somewhat novel take on the current round of hostilities (to put it mildly) between Israel and Iran. The theory that Iran, like Venezuela before it, is but a piece in the puzzle to bring to heel potential (or actual) Chinese global dominance runs on rails. It just so happens that Israel has its own interest in seeing the end of Iran as an irredentist Islamic Republic. Great episode of an overall great podcast. But note to Haviv: if everything is “profound” or “fundamental”, then nothing is truly profound or fundamental.

Episode 93. Phenomenally enlightening description of what fueled the rise of the Islamist Republic of Iran, and how it will crumble. It reveals where the cracks are and how to exploit them.

Haviv discusses/explains the great issues of the Israeli people with tremendous depth, passion, nuance, and wisdom. Those who are sympathetic to the jews of Israel (and elsewhere) will gain even greater understanding. Those who are hostile toward Am Yisrael, but open-minded, can learn a great deal about the concerns and needs of those same people.

Haviv outdid himself with his lengthy interview and discussion with Aimen Dean. As a non- observant American Jew trying to make sense of the chaos of the Middle East the podcast provides a wealth of background and clarity on the causes and consequences of the past. Aimen Dean is revelation regarding the need for stable monarchies in the region and a pathway to a long term solution to the conflict. Thank you.

Haviv Rettig Gur is my favorite analyst to understand what is going on in the Middle East. He has both great humanity and great clarity. His work is well-researched and well-founded. His delivery is both poetic and concise. He makes you understand where all the actors are coming from, what their motivations are, why things go wrong, why things go right. When he puts out an episode, I drop everything to hear it. He’s riveting.

The most nutrient-rich show on Israel, the current war, history of the region, and pretty much anything else of importance to the Jewish world vis a vis Israel you could possibly want to know. You will finish every episode not only knowing vastly more than you did before, but with a sense that you are now able to explain it to someone else. This is invaluable.

I have learned so much about topics I already thought I knew from this podcast. Finally real meat not the same old regurgitated point of views. There is a deep historical knowledge that is shared (thank you) and deep curiosity that comes from this level of conversation. It is not hollow, it is not easy (I have to listen 1x speed to take it in) —- it is intellectually stimulating and just a joy to listen even when I don’t agree! This has quickly become my favorite podcast to which others in this genre pale in comparison.
