She’ll speak with other artists who make art for and in public spaces and get their unique take on how and why they work in this field, the challenges they face, and the rewards. She’ll also chat with industry insiders like placemakers, public art administrators, fabricators, and festival organizers, all of whom are committed to enlivening and enriching public spaces and have valuable insight to share about this fascinating field of work.

Alexandra Kirsh is the curator at The RBC Art and Heritage Centre in Montreal. In essence, she is the curator and manager of the public art collection at the McGill University Health Centres in Montreal. She tells me about the unique task of tailoring artworks to different spaces within a hospital setting, balancing both staff and patient needs. The collection contains a vast diversity of artworks, ranging from the 11 permanent works commissioned at the construction of the new Glen site hospital, as well as hundreds of paintings, prints and mixed media artworks.
