Episode 33 – Sandra Zanetti
In this episode we are going international with Kendra as an artist in residence at Fish Factory in Stöðvarfjörður, Iceland. While utilizing a variety of technologies to create this long distance episode we (perhaps appropriately, possibly ironically) are interviewing the tech savvy artist Sandra Zanetti about her work and process of “combining independent research, audiovisual compositions, and writing.” Her multimedia pieces and installations are “motivated by a desire to deconstruct the complexities of underlying systems and ideologies shaped by capital and technology.” Join us as we talk fjords, art, and hauntings. More information on Sandra Zanetti’s work can be found at www.sandrazanetti.com. ARTIST BIO: Zanetti weaves together physical compositions which utilize her unique visual language, woven from a variety of world cultures, iconographies, socioeconomic theories, examining moments of destruction and innovation throughout history, in conjunction with her own world view forged by the Digital Revolution. Zanetti has deep interests in language, embodiment, symbols, world building, and the cyclicality of time in regards to progression, innovation and regression.  Regularly consulting and collaborating with respective experts in their field, her work presents topics typically outside of the research of commercial interests. Her compositions serve as a connection point to interpret digital, physical and political landscapes in order to understand the present through the study of cliodynamics. By presenting hypotheses unconcerned with reductive systems of analysis, be it formal or cognitive, Zanetti’s work reveals a journey through logical research, cross-cultural connection and the interactions between technology and adaption. Zanetti is an alumna of Paris College of Art, Universität der Künste Berlin, and the University of Central Florida. Her work has been exhibited throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Currently, she is in residence with Fish Factory in Stöðvarfjörður, Iceland and is based in Brooklyn, New York. This Autumn she will be conducting her Masters in Fine Art at the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins.   (the artist) Unity Through DiversityInstallation2021
