ABN Podcast 103 - A conversation with ABSC president Greg Sykes
Arkansas Baptist News Associate Editor Caleb Yarbrough chats with Arkansas Baptist State Convention President Greg Sykes, senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Russellville, about everything from his role as president of the state convention, the current battle over bringing a casino to Pope County (the county where his church is located), the importance of lay leaders to Syke's personal story of how he shifted paths from a possible career in journalism to full-time pastoral ministry. Sykes also shares about his time as a sports reporter at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, during the late 1980s and early 1990s, including the Razorbacks' men's basketball team's 1994 National Championship season. The conversation digs into some of Sykes' personal approaches to ministry and gives Arkansas Baptists a better picture of one of the state's leaders. Enjoy!
