They came back for this?
The show goes on an extended hiatus, then comes back to do individual recap episodes of a show that aired over three months ago. Why? Either cover a show when it’s current or don’t even waste your time recording the episode. No one is clamoring for Citadel content in August.

Great show. Turn it up.
I love the show, but the volume is too low. 😬

They hate everything
Not for me. The hosts seem to dislike everything they talk about.

Irritating hipster delivery
This is unlistenable due to the inane way the hosts talk. Ugh.
just jack!
Getting worse
Margaret has always had issues with interrupting but it’s out of control lately. I can’t listen because she interrupts and can’t stand to be disagreed with. I’m sorry to lose getting to hear from the other two hosts.

INANE BANTER —DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!
Honestly, this trio offers so little insight. They make 4th graders look like wise, incisive thinkers.

Great TV podcast. Great hosts
Love it. Chemistry between the hosts is great as well Congratulations on 300 episodes

Too much interrupting and screeching
Kathryn is insightful and I’d love to listen to her talk about tv anywhere but here. I’ve enjoyed Margaret in PCHH but she’s obnoxious on this pod, probably because she’s so comfy with her college besties. If you want to listen to friends talk over each other and do baby voices, you found the podcast for you. It was not the pop culture chat I was looking for. I’ll catch up with Kathryn’s great writing instead.

Joyless
I was excited to listen to this because I’ve liked Margaret on other podcasts. Frustratingly, the other hosts whine constantly, making this show unlistenable.

Too Political
Too much politics. Turn off.

As Adorable as a Basket Full of C**ks**king Kittens!
::The reference is to their deep-dives into episodes of DEADWOOD:: This is a weekly audio-only podcast about "Television You Want to Watch", hosted by Wirecutter Senior Staff Writer Andrew Cunningham, Vulture.com writer Kathryn VanArendonk, and freelance media writer/librarian Margaret Willison -- three friends who met in college, and clearly love each other very much, for all their teasing. This is a largely exuberant, joyful show about television the hosts love and hate -- unlike most shows about television, the best commentary isn't always about the worst programs! I started listening last Fall, and when I don't have any up-to-date podcasts to listen to go back through their library of old shows. I'm to the point which threatens -- "promises" a "TV Book Club" (where they do a deep dive into seasons of a televsion series) of Aaron Sorkin's THE NEWSROOM (I'll get the popcorn)....

Little knowledge or analysis
I listened to the Addam’s family episode, and I really tried to listen until the end but I had to stop about 2/3 of the way through. The hosts barely scratch the surface of the social commentary the show offers. They seem to have next to no context for what they are talking about; they have no idea how revolutionary this show was in so many ways. This is a lack of knowledge of tv history. Plus, they have watched far too few episodes to know enough about the show - well, it would probably be fine, except that they are speculating about details and background plot questions that are very clearly answered in other episodes they haven’t seen. It’s extremely annoying as someone who knows the show.

Simply the best
I love listening to these three and their occasional guests. As a teacher during this pandemic, I am stressed basically all the time and this podcast has brought me so much joy. It helps me de-stress, always makes me laugh, and I just feel like I’m hanging out with friends every time I listen. I’m so appreciative of their love and respect for each other and I just think they are all so great.

It doesn’t even matter if you watch the show
These three and their guests are excellent chatterboxes to help you find quality (or not) TV and get you through the lonely days of the pandemic and beyond. Their pop culture insight and warm, silly conversations make for enjoyable listening even if you haven’t watched the shows they’re talking about.

Such a fun podcast!
I’ve learned about so many great shows from Kathryn, Margaret and Andrew, and totally feel like I now know the hosts and am part of their friendly and interesting conversations. The TV book clubs are great for discovering new shows or revisiting old favorites.

Smart, entertaining commentary
ATV has rocketed to the top of my podcast list. The hosts are engaging and good-humored in addition to having smart things to say. It feels like a conversation with friends, one in which I can lazily enjoy the company of intelligent people with no pressure on me to say anything intelligent myself. In other words, an introvert’s dream. They’ve covered shows I love, shows I hate, and shows I’ve never heard of, all with entertaining results. P.S. I’m an Old. This show isn’t just for the youts.

These are my three favorite white people
Been binging this pod because I finished Andrews other one (overdue) and hoooo BOY is it a DELIGHT! There are very few podcasts where I agree with most of what’s said, and while that’s not a barrier to my enjoyment it is really nice to find one where all the hosts feel like kindred spirits :) wish I was 10 years older and had gone to Kenyon college because these guys (as well as Craig hopefully!) would most certainly be my fun white friends :D

Margaret, let a person finish their thought.
I feel like Andrew finally said something this week about Margaret interrupting and talking over others. I like the podcast, but when one host interrupts the other, it makes me want to find something else to listen to. Especially when the interruption is not related to the topic and they just like to hear their own voice.

Love!
Appointment Television is always a bright spot in my week. As a small liberal arts college in Ohio alumn, librarian, and person who wasn't allowed to watch TV as a child, but now watches maybe too much, I feel loyal to this podcast on multiple levels. The dynamic of the three of you together is amazing and awesome. Keep doing what you're doing- you do it so well.

Like spending an hour with old friends
I come to this podcasts for the smart conversations and banter. For me, the television is sort of beside the point.

The reason podcasts were invented
The ATV gang brings so much joy to my life. I love their personalities, their takes, and their guest panelists. (Kate Racullia! Sophie Brookover! The Unfriendly Black Hotties!) Relistening to old episodes has really kept me going during the pandemic. Thanks, friends.

Worth an occasional listen
It’s fine in a pinch. I’ll listen occasionally if the subject interests me, but it’s a little insular, and the inside jokes tend not to be as funny to me as they are to the hosts.

Keeping me sane
I’ve been listening for years, since hearing Margaret as a guest on PCHH, but never realized just how much this trio means to me until living and working in isolation for months.
KSeek
My favorite TV podcast
I’ve been listening and a fan since day 1. Love the show, the dynamic between the three hosts and their banter + smart analysis. Really brightens up my week! Also helped me discover Puffin Rock just this week, which might technically be kids’ show, but is great pre-bedtime winddown TV for adults in these anxious times.
Isn't this
Bones Zone!!!!!
I’ve come to a sad realization that the Bones Zone is likely not going to happen. I think I could settle for a TV book club covering the first 6 seasons. Love the podcast! Just discovered it a few weeks ago and have been diving through the back catalogue of episodes!
Fargogay
Giggly and oh so full of themselves
If these guys would just quit hanging around with people who have drunk their koolaid, they would probably be okay. I can’t stand it. I’m glad they found each other.
Okmaestra
On my "must listen" list
Margaret, Kathryn and Andrew deep dive into some very interesting shows that I normally wouldn’t be interested in seeing and make them interesting. It is best though when they disect a show I'm currently watching and make me see it from a different point of view.

Great listen
Anxiously awaiting the Bones Zone More profanity please!

BONE ZONE!
I was led to this beautiful podcast via a plug for the Bone Zone episode on another entertainment podcast. I came for the Bones, but stayed for all the quality banter amongst the hosts. Love the passion with which you all speak!
Olivia_24
I tried
Content is slightly above average. I wanted the people responsible for this program that I am unsubscribing because of the profanity in today's episode. I am not what I consider to be a prude but this was just lazy speech. Perhaps you just wanted to get a reaction but I don’t suppose this is the one you wanted. Sorry.

Good television fix
I really like this podcast, the hosts are really funny and silly and have great chemistry together. I like their format too of having a tv book club
Leopards Are Cool
Best podcast for all the latest bones news
The Bones Zone is the best place to keep up with all new Bones developments, Bones rewatching, Bones back stories. Highly recommend.

Stop with the profanity!
I love this podcast except for the gratuitous constant profanity from Andrew. Profanity should be used to display extreme emotions, not in everyday banter. Andrew, it comes across as juvenile and inarticulate- you’re better than that.

Banter + thoughtful commentary
Margaret, Kathryn, and Andrew are delightful to listen to. They agree, disagree, persuade, and banter, but always in good fun. They are insightful and thoughtful about television, but mostly charming conversationalists with a solid friendship that is fun to voyeuristically “participate” in (especially for those of us who are grad students and don’t have time for real friends!). But they have also turned me on to new shows and made me think more critically about what I consume and like and why.

So good!
Such a funny and insightful cast. As one of those damned souls starting my 4th rewatch of the office, this show has opened up my watch list.

Thank you!
Any episode of Pop Culture Happy Hour with Margaret is a highlight. To hear her having fun (and swearing) is podcast gold. So happy I just discovered this show.

A favorite
I don't usually listen to podcasts but I listen to this one regularly. It's smart and thoughtful while being super relaxed and fun. It's basically like listening to three very intelligent friends who love TV talk and have a ball together. I especially appreciate it when they talk about the industry (Netflix, WGA v agents, Bones suit, Apple etc) and larger formal trends like episodic tv vs whatever bloated mess Netflix delivers, along with deep dives into particular TV episodes. Can't wait for more Deadwood TV Book Club! P.S I'll be forever grateful to Kathryn & Margaret for enlightening me on Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries 💗

Love it!
A must listen for TV lovers as the three hosts with their distinct interests cover a whole variety of topics. Came here for Kathryn's take on peak TV after reading her on vulture (first became a fan after reading her Halt and Catch fire reviews) and stayed for the discussion of Margaret's Brit dramas. They're funny and smart. Highly recommended.

Loving it
I first found Andrew on Overdue (which I love too). Which lead me to Margaret. I’m so happy I’ve found you 3.

Great pop culture podcast!
I look forward to the episodes of this podcast every week, anxiously refreshing my podcast feed every Friday. Even when they go over shows and movies I don’t watch, the back and forth between John and Bonney makes the episodes very enjoyable! I make sure to recommend this podcast whenever I can!

Fantastic TV podcast!
Cross-over sensation Andrew (of the equally good Overdue book podcast) joins Kathryn the professional TV writer and the always insightful and hilarious Margaret to talk about TV and TV industry related topics. The dynamic between the three is a real treat and is something that not all trio based podcasts manage to pull off. They all add a distinctive voice and perspective to the podcast and clearly have a long standing chemistry that comes through during the show. The podcast is very funny and definitely earns its explicit tag with Margaret having mastered the art of a well placed F bomb but the adult language never feels cheap and it is balanced by great wit and erudition. Basically this is like listening to your three smart and funny friends riff about TV at a party. I really appreciate their ability to broaden horizons both in TV viewing (I'm actually considering reality TV because of them) and life in general. Be warned, mysoginists should probably avoid this and move on to some "Hot or Not?" click bait or try it, you might learn something. Honestly the only mystery is why this podcast isn't more popular. Check it out please and rate and review or Andrew will call you an ingrate.

Great show
Only complaint is the parroting of ideas. Disagreeing wouldn’t kill you.

I'm a smarter TV viewer because of ATV!
I love this show! It’s insightful and funny - and I feel like a savvier TV viewer because of it. Not only have I discovered a few of my favorite shows through ATV, but I can now make (informed) fun of Dr. Face Hands without ever actually subjecting myself to it. Thank you for consistently putting out great content, Kathryn, Margaret, and Andrew! You make Thursday more fun for all of us. :)

Very Good Opinions!
I like hearing Andrew, Kathryn, and Margaret’s opinions about TV, even when I haven’t watched the show they’re talking about or when their opinions are wrong (eg not choosing Coach & Tami Taylor as the TV couple with the most chemistry). Always a fun listen!

Thoughtful and Personable
As with any critique there will be some you agree with and some you disagree with, but Margaret Kathryn and Andrew bring something extra with your critique. There is good humor, banter, running gags, and audience engagement that you won’t find in other programs. Largely I tune in to be a fly on the wall and pretend I’m part of the friend group. I’ve gotten a few good recommendations as they go a little deeper on the shows they talk about. It’s also a good spot to keep up with current events in TV programming and production. As for the critiques, they do a good job of looking at equality and gender issues as it relates to TV. The 3 hosts often have different opinions about programs, and while there is some overlap in their preferred programming, they also cover a wider range as a group. The opinions are also thought out and explained. Be nice to Andrew! <3 you all.

You don’t even have to like tv to love this podcast!
Listen, I rarely watch the TV Book Clubs and yet it’s still my favorite podcast because Margaret, Kathryn, and Andrew are delightful. Kathryn has never given a bad recommendation and I do regularly act like my friend recommended shows to me and not a stranger on the internet. (That said please put this podcast on Spotify thx)

One of my favorites
I usually am not familiar with the shows they discuss. It doesn’t matter. It’s about their interaction. It’s great just to listen to their conversation. I became a fan of Margaret from hearing her on Pop Culture Happy Hour, and so I followed her here. I’m also a fan of her Twitter and her Twitter handle because it’s a reference to the fantastic Thursday Next book series by Jasper Fforde.
