The definition of masculinity seems to be ever changing, and so fraught with complexities, many of them not great. Joel and I sat down to talk about some of the many reasons why this is, exploring the limitations of the ways in which masculinity is expected to be performed by men in our society. The episode focuses on his experience as a cis-gendered man. Joel is the host of What The Theory, available in  podcast form, and on You-Tube. A special one for episode 10!In conversation with two of my siblings; David and Pauline.We talk through growing up with the set cultural and otherwise expectations and what it has meant for us to reject some of those ideas, and charter our own path. We talk through mental health, exploring the ways of re-parenting, and what it means to show up fully for each other. David is a Civil and Environmental engineer by training, and has recently co-founded a company; Danold Works, that focuses on sustainable ways of construction, among other things. David first appears on Episode 8 of the podcast. Pauline is all things creative and loves fashion, art, design and hair. She will be starting university in September. 

Sarah and I talk through the lessons that have come to us about how to accept the different highs and lows of life. We talk about learning to live with pain and what that means for the kind of compassion, love and empathy we then can show up with. As a parent, Sarah also shares some of her own ways she teaches her boys how to show up in the world. Sarah is a financial guru and teaches on all things planning, investing and being accountable to money, in ways that are ethical and sustainable. In conversation with Mugabe David.David, my brother and I talk through the question of what is deemed moral in our society, and why. In conversation with Rushongoka Wa'Mpiira. Rusho and I talk through the courage of moving away from previously defined ideas of success that focus on accumulation.  We talk about the urgency of cultivating more sustainable practices that focus on regeneration, sustainable ways of producing food and different models of development.  Rusho is an agro- ecologist and the founder of Nyaza Academy. He works with restoring farming systems and making farming systems truly sustainable by focusing on the natural and indigenous  ways of growing food. Rusho loves working with children, introducing them to ways of living that are more harmonious with nature. He lives in Fort-Portal, Uganda.

Darlyne and I are in conversation with Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah's 'The Sex Lives of African Women". We talk through sex and sexuality as we have come to understand it, talking through some of our personal journeys of unlearning shame, fear and resistances that hold us back from experiencing pleasure as a whole. Darlyne is a multi-disciplinary artists with a focus on photography and DJing who is a Black Women loving woman. Gloria and I talk about mothering, sharing our own experiences with the changing relationships with our own mothers. Acknowledging that motherhood looks and feels differently for all of us. we talk through the different people who have loved and nurtured  us, including each other and the lessons we draw from that. Gloria is a feminist writer and organiser whose daily work is focused on among other things reproductive justice for all. She is also the founder of Bonera Designs and an all round creative person. In conversation with Nayebare Shiella.Shiella and I talk through our own personal experiences with grief. We explore the ways in which we survived, and found beauty in-spite of deep loss. For both of us, grief is something we live with, memories of how much we have loved. It is also a reminder to stay present, to live as fully and as intentionally as we can, for as long as we have. Shiella runs a design and build firm; Archies where she spends her days bring to reality visions of her love for architecture. She is also currently pursuing her degree in psychology. Sheilla is truly multitalented and for as long as we have known each other has been great at singing, dancing, acting and all things creative.
