The wilderness, or simply nature generally, is part of so many of our mental health support routines. This is something we've touched on before and can even openly wax on poetically about. But what happens when your drive to do even the simplest outdoor, or indoor for that matter, tasks or activities disappears? When we experience dark moments, depressive episodes, and mental health battles, we can often pull away from the things that bring us joy and happiness, such as hitting a trail or exploring a new area, even those of us with podcasts and YoutTube channels dedicated to just that. Today we talk about depressive episodes, how we cope, what got us there, how we pull out as well as our honest experiences of just grinding through. We live in a culture that, too often, requires us to hide our struggles and we're making ourselves vulnerable because the struggle is part of life and it's important that we're honest about the best and also the hardest of times. We hope you enjoy this episode and if you're in a dark moment, know that you're not alone.

Holly and Jim discuss "Gatekeeping" and how it creates obstacles to entry for outdoor adventure activities. Specifically around body size and gender micro (and possibly not so micro) aggressions. We talk through how to deal with different scenarios that may come up on the trail as well as celebrate work that's being done to tear down these walls. This episode was so fun. We learned a lot, and we hope you have fun and grow from this discussion too.
