It’s been too long since I’ve recorded an episode. I apologize for getting emotional in my last episode but you couldn’t imagine the depth of pain that I have endured. But this episode is dedicated to my listeners who are curious to know what I’ve been up to. It is working together for my good. Some seasons are shorter than others & we have to accept that. I’m looking forward to a new beginning, even if it’s lonely.

Each year in the United States, about 264,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and about 2,400 in men. About 42,000 women and 500 men in the U.S. die each year from breast cancer. Black women have a higher rate of death from breast cancer than White women. Which is why all month long we recognize & celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness. However, October is also the month in which we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness. As a survivor of domestic abuse, it has been hard to move on with life without allowing my past to affect me. This episode is to remind the world that we matter too. Although this maybe hard to do, we can just push past the damage and the heartbreak. Don’t let this define you. You are so much more than a victim!

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. People often assume physical violence when they hear about abuse, but that’s not always the case. Dating abuse is a pattern of behaviors used to gain or maintain power and control over a partner — physical violence is just one example of such behavior. Remember: no one deserves to experience abuse in any capacity and every type of abuse is serious.

Because you’re a Christian, you’re made to feel that your decisions are to be perfect. We were all born into sin, so it’s only natural that we make mistakes. Gods grace is sufficient and shouldn’t be taken for granted but please allow me to grow. I don’t think I’m better than you, I simply want more for myself and my children. I shouldn’t have to conform to this world to be accepted. Learn to stand alone and stand on your morals. The Disease to Please is curable but first you must admit that you are the problem.

How do you prepare for something you’re not ready for? Being a parent is one of the most rewarding tasks I’ve ever had but it also has its challenges. I learn new ways to parent everyday. Being a parent helped me to see just how much I put my mother through. This journey hasn’t been easy but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Stop being so hard on yourself.

Fear is a natural feeling so I don’t feel guilty for feeling that way. I will not allow my fear to overtake me & push me further away from happiness. I will be patient on this journey and allow myself time to heal. I trust that it is all going to work out for my good. You are not in this alone & I’m here to remind you why you shouldn’t settle.

The word Friend, is used so loosely. To be honest, many of us do not know what it means to be a friend, simply because we’ve never had one. Our friendships deserve to be watered so that they can grow just like our relationships. Communication is just as important like any other relationship. The time that you’ve known a person doesn’t determine their loyalty. We all must be held accountable for the dysfunctional behaviors that we have. We must be mindful of how our behavior affects our friendships.

For so long, I’ve compared my situation to someone else’s. I’ve allowed social media, family & friends, even my enemies to determine what I wanted for myself. It’s not perfect but it’s still love to me. It’s never too late to change, to grow & to adapt. As a single woman, I’m still figuring this out one day at a time.

I’ll never find the perfect man and I’m ok with that, but I refuse to settle. There are things that I desire in a man or in a relationship that I deserve. When you know better, you do better. Dating has gotten so much harder because nobody dates to marry, everyone wants to just see what happens. When you fail to plan or come to a mutual agreement of where things will go, you not only waste your time but you find yourself regretting some things. I am no relationship coach or advocate for single women but I know what I want and that makes me dangerous. Because I refuse to settle or just go along to get along. Loneliness is a state of mind.

Many people daydream about all the things they wish the could do. I am so grateful to God that the passion I have, has taken me so far. After all I’ve been through, it gave me a story to tell.
