Too much Chomsky
Have listened for decades to this unique broadcast first on public radio, now on a pod. But after learning about Epstein friendship, Chomsky lands differently. Taking a break.

If you want to pull down the civilization we are in this is the pod for you.

Great Program, terrible Podcast policy
I appreciate the great show and speakers, and am glad they bothered to create a Podcast of it at all, but c’mon, one episode at a time (or you can telegraph, fax or use smoke signals to request/receive old episodes)?!
It would be much more useful to share the back catalog, or at least a half-dozen or more episodes at a time versus being so controlling with them. I get that it’s likely a revenue stream, but perhaps create a Patreon or subscription feed to get the full
Episodes or get extra content…just need to get the logistics figured out…

Can’t find anything
Why is there only ONE episode listed? Is everything else deleted, or is this a new podcast with only one episode?

One Episode?
As another reviewer said he was experiencing, I’m also seeing only one episode. Is there something I’m not understanding?

Alternative Radio with David Barsamian
Vital, direct & factual reportage from journalists & scholars~Social & human rights groups & workers. Balanced & thorough ~ reporting, analysis & informative detail revealing for listeners~that which is supressed & un-examined by more “mainstream” media & “news” outlets. Undeniably unbiased & fact - rich in content. Refreshing, inspiring & very freely offered for listeners to make inroads by their own actions in directly helpful ways
regarding their own personal urges to be of active service toward their highest ideals for peace, social & human rights balance, truth telling & clarity for compassionate
understanding. A educational broadcast providing an essential piece in the construct of a world which works for everyone, & by everyone’s enlightened
participating action.

Jeffrey Sachs interview (4/2023)
Good Morning, I listen to your most excellent podcast every week and your team does a great job. it occurred to me, after many seemingly reasonable attempts to lay out the problem of the tragedy of superpowers, and in his view, a fervent need to embrace convergence of varied economies and proceed in all areas of controversy between nations with an eye towards protecting group interests instead of focusing on the individual, that when Mr. Sachs referenced a history we should consider in the answers to these matters, he listed all men. Aristotle, Buddha, Confucius… As a member of a violently dominated, marginalized, and historically erased/ignored gender, Mr. Sachs lost all credibility to comment on this issue or any other. Finally, he listed various religious groups that should be included in the protection of group rights, throwing in Hinduism. Maybe consult an “untouchable” in India before an unquestioning inclusion of every single group and/or religion.

the best
probably the best weekly podcast in existence.

Every episode is worth listening to.
I have listened to Alternative Radio since its beginnings. I used to order tapes to share with friends. I love that I can access and share the programs now via internet. It is a way to learn real overview of what is happening in our world today.

Occupy episode
You have clearly overplayed the hand with Occupy which had overrated, by you, attributable political underpinnings and dismissed the whole of the Vietnam, civil rights and feminist era.

MY FAV PODCAST but NO feed
Quality all the way- But Seems they are more interested in hiding & controlling content than in getting the info out. No way to even pay to get the other shows apparently on here! If the left was more generous of info like this we could avoid the ignorance which will cause U.S. to soon fall into AUTHORITARIAN RULE.

Accessibility
I wrote David asking what level would I have to subscribe at to have access to entire catalog as almost every podcast does for nothing… no response from his cloistered confines… David, there has to be a middle ground we can come to out of need to get information and your need to make a living.
In solidarity
Why remove them every week
Leave the episode uploaded. I will pay.
chuckfoo42
please
its been said already but please leave episodes listed. its impossible to share with people because it leaves so quickly. we all can’t pay for content, and locking this stuff behind a paywall seems antithetical to the purpose of the ideas shared here. please consider patreon, paypal or something. you have fans who will financially support you, but its obtuse to expect for everyone to do so.

Step into the now, Mr. B
AR represents an absolute gold mine. Decades worth of thought provoking interviews and speeches the People desperately need to hear but, sadly, won’t because all of it save the carefully selected episode of the week is behind a paywall. David. Please. For the love of no less than the future of our species, make this a normal podcast: Patreon, advertisers, listener donations, a rich uncle... etc. The number of times I’ve heard a relevant nugget of wisdom and wanted to share it with friends and family but had to add, “...but you have to listen to it this week ‘cause, it like, disappears.”

More than 156,000 dead Americans from Covid-19
Not sure when this was recorded but when it became available on 8/5 or 8/6/20, the number is far worse than 100k. But a fine podcast every time for progressive listeners!

One of the best
I’ve been listening to Alternative for over 20 years, going back to when it was only on the Radio on public radio.
Always insightful and entertaining.

Alternative radio
This series has opened my eyes, mind, And heart. David Barsamian features many well known voices, but also offers a platform to more obscure public intellectuals from all over the world. I particularly value women from global south and indigenous perspectives like vandana shiva and Winona laduke. And critical perspectives on right wing Zionism, valuable to me as a progressive Jew. And where else Will you learn about The full historical context of the Armenian genocide...?

This ain’t NPR (nauseating pasteurized radio)
When u hear the truth it just makes sense. This is a source of information that will give you a bias free picture of reality. The closer One gets to the truth the less bias there is.

Actually Silenced Voices
When I was in college, I took a history course. The professor started his class by asking, “Why do we learn history?” A girl in my class raised her hand and replied, “because those who don’t learn history are doomed to repeat it.” The professor, visibly annoyed, begrudgingly agreed with her, but gave his own take - we learn history to put today into context. I have personally found today’s context to be sorely lacking. I feel that the history books I was given in grade school had this undertone that everything in them leads up to America being the greatest country in the world. No mention of the poverty that plagues our society or that our education and healthcare outcomes are far inferior to other countries.
AlternativeRadio puts today into context. The programs play recordings of people you are not going to see or hear on the mainstream media, unless they’re on for two minutes and can’t get a word in edgewise. The recordings are mostly of speeches - given at universities, community centers, churches, etc. The speeches are roughly an hour and their topics vary - from global warming to warfare to history/politics/economics to racism/sexism/imperialism, etc.
A couple things: (1) old programs are deleted after you play them, and are no longer accessible, assuming a new program is available; (2) if and when you bring up a point made in one of these talks, be prepared to be called a Russian bot. (Why anyone would believe a word of what the FBI <with its extended history of undermining civil rights, animal rights, and climate justice movements> says in regards to “Russian operatives” undermining the election, is beyond me.)

Where are the episodes?
This podcast came to me highly recommended. I came here for the Thomas Frank episode. Where is it? FYI this is no way to grow the listener base...lame.

Excellent content, not so good podcast management
In the swirl of podcasts, AR is still one of the few outlets featuring truly Leftist analysis and opinion, thoughtfully presented, something I great appreciate. The podcast itself, though, has given me lots of trouble, like today when I found myself unsubscribed. Better management is needed. I also fail to see why episodes are deleted each week. Since I can store them on my device - which I do but would prefer not to - I'm not sure what is gained by deleting the feed.

Essential listening

Socialism in America
This podcast is appalling to listen to. She makes inaccurate claims and didn't include the full truth about the arresting of black Americans. Although they may be arrested more for their actions, this is because of their actions, not due to the opinions of the "racist white police officers," this is because the truth. The "real" truth. Black Americans have been arrested because of homicide by almost 20% more often than white Americans. This just hurts me over the inaccuracies and the lack of knowledge of what really happened. I could go on for many many more lines of the inaccuracies, but I hope that any of you reading this read the truth before accepting the biased incorrect opinions of the radical socialist that so strongly tries to convince the public. Please actually find the truth.

You gotta listen!
Alternative Radio is my favorite program. David Barsamian brings so many important voices to the air waves, voices we all need to hear. And he does such a good job of it, India recently deported him out of fear of what might come from his interviews in that country.

Five Stars to Alternative Radio
David Barsamian's Alternative Radio is top notch. It is one of the few, but growing, non-commercial breaths of fresh air in the field of non-mainstream media (or I guess, as Madame Palin would say, non-lamestream media), that is pushing back against the corporatization of our country. If you want to educate yourself, go to alternativeradio.org and purchase their mp3 files featuring different speakers on many different topics. They're a real bargain.
