Health Matters: A conversation on Mental Health for Lawyers
The current pandemic has affected the dynamics of works, families and human interactions. In this session, we discussed how it has particularly impacted the lawyers. Mental health remains a taboo according to many and in May the ALN Academy together with the ALN Series were extremely honoured to host two outstanding leaders in the legal profession here in Africa, Dr Peter Kwenjera, Dean of the Strathmore Law School and Karim Anjarwalla, Managing Partner at ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna. This session addressed some of the key aspects of the book “Learning to Live, Rest and Let Go” written by the psychiatrist Dr. Fernando Sarrais and some of the main strategies on how law firms tackle these issues in times in which uncertainty, stress and anxiety can have an impact in the profession. The key question is, how do we build back, find balance and accustom to the new normal.
