Lessons from 2023
1. You aren’t in control. God is. I know we all like to think we are in control… but we aren’t. Once you release that control and completely surrender to what God has in store for your life, only aligned, magical things can happen. That’s not to say things won’t go wrong. I just mean that everything that happens, it’s happening for you and God’s got you all the way!
2. Follow your heart/gut/intuition/God/higher source… whatever you want to call it… follow it. For some reason we all grew up believing that we needed to do what society told us or that our parents or friends knew what was best for us in our lives. I’m here to tell you, that’s not true. You are the only one that knows you like you know you. No one will ever know the true desires of your heart, your dreams, or what really fills you up. I encourage you to take some time in the new year, get some place quiet, and listen. Listen to your body, listen to your gut, listen to God… and then you will go about your day from a place of peace. It affects the whole rest of your day which then has a positive affect on your life.
3. People need people… this is something I often say and every day I am reminded this to be true. We were not meant to live this life alone… yet we are living more separated than ever. We are in a loneliness epidemic and every day we find it harder and harder to communicate effectively with the people around us. We have got to get back to community, helping each other and lifting each other up. Once I began surrounding myself with people who were positive, self - less, and growth centered, my life completely changed. I used to live in a constant state of stress due to the environments I was putting myself in. If you go to a job every day and you are stressed out, anxious before ever entering the building… you need to find a different job. No one was meant to live in a constant state of fight or flight. Make 2024 your year to find environments and people that lift you up and want you to succeed.
4. You are enough and it’s never too late. These are 2 kinda cliche quotes but they can also be so powerful if you truly embody them. These have been mantras of mine for a long time but I didn’t actually believe them for myself until this year. It’s a game changer when you fully believe in yourself. Don’t let one more day pass with you believing you aren’t enough for anything. If you have ever found yourself believing you couldn’t do something because you weren’t smart enough, thin enough, pretty enough, rich enough… just stop right now. Remove these thoughts from your brain now. You are more than enough and you can do what ever it is you want to do. You don’t stop learning until the day you die, so get after it. Make this the year you learn something that improves the quality of life or someone else's.
