The inhuman system of slavery that caused one person be owned by another was a system of racial dominance. Dominance that exists to date in Western societies and penetrates all institutions from education to law to media to cinema. The films are 'Solomon Northup's Odyssey' and  'Twelve Years A Slave' and they traverse the life journey of Solomon Northup, who is kidnapped and pushed into slavery.
