After graduating from Colgate University, he graduated from Syracuse University College of Law (J.D.), and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. He is also a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia's Federal District Bankruptcy Courts. He is a trained mediator, who volunteers as a mediator for the Prince Georges County Office of Community Relations, volunteer as an Assistant Scout Master for troop 1657, and President of the Legal Ministry at his church. While at Colgate, he was on WRCU, a member of WeFunk, and received his BA in Sociology and Anthropology.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the founder of Nomder Yoga, Dr. Stephen Redmon.’80. Born and raised in NYC. Stephen is a Holistic-Therapeutic Lawyer who served in the Army and federal government for over 30 years. He uses a variety of trauma-informed yoga and meditation paths to humbly and compassionately serve people seeking improved wellness and health while coping with life challenges such as trauma, addiction, tension, and stress. A lifelong learner, after graduating from Colgate University, he received a Ph.D. from Fielding Graduate University, a LL.M. from Pace University School of Law, Environmental Law, and his J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law. A former Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone and graduate of the Certificate in Positive Psychology, Stephen is also a certified yoga instructor. While at Colgate, he was on the track team, an original member of the Sojourners, and received his BA.

She is also the Founder and Executive Leadership and Life Coach at Coaching Women of Color. After graduating from Colgate University, she received two Masters degrees from Baruch College, School of Public Affairs. a Masters in Public Administration and Masters of Science in Education Administration. Wendy is on a mission to empower and inspire women of color to transform their relationship with their inner critic and create lasting and breakthrough results in any area of their life. While at Colgate, she double majored in Political Science and Spanish.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with a Co-Founder of Principles Marketing, Garfield O. Smith, '85. Principles Marketing, is a consultancy providing Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer marketing strategy to financial services. After graduating from Colgate University, he received an M.B.A. from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He co-founded the Partnership for Racial Progress, an alumni of color organization established to partner with the University president and senior leadership team to advance racial diversity, equity, and inclusion at Colgate. While at Colgate, he was the recipient of the Edward M. Stimets Memorial Award, George W. Cobb Fellowship, and the President's Award. He was elected to the Board of Trustees for Colgate a year after his graduation as a “Young Trustee”, for which he served a three-year term. He was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Roessler-Chadwick Foundation Group and to a second term on the Board of Trustees for Colgate University.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the Founder and CEO of Black ink Communications, Joy Harrington, '99. Black ink Communications is a project management and professional services firm based in Washington, D.C. She also serves as the vice president and general manager of Knighten Health, a woman-owned firm that creates and delivers accredited, high-quality medical education for physicians and patients. After graduating from Colgate University, she received an M.A. in Medical Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Joy is Harrington is a trained journalist and has won awards for her work. She has written for The Well, Essence Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Nashville Tennessean, and Newport News (VA) Daily Press.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the Heart & Soul’s Chief Executive Officer, Clarence Brown, '76. As the CEO he is responsible for the growth and expansion of the 21-year-old brand to ensure its continued growth, success, and return on shareholder investment. After graduating from Colgate University, he worked with Time magazine for 12 years and worked with Black Entertainment Television (BET) for 13 years. As Vice President of Operations and Associate Publisher for the BET Publishing Group, he was responsible for the launch of 3 magazines and managed a 15-million-dollar budget for Emerge, Young Sisters and Brothers and BET Weekend magazines. He was instrumental in the structure and content for the launch of MSBET, a joint venture web site for BET and Microsoft that eventually became BET.com.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the mental health expert, Carla Beckford. '88. After graduating from Colgate University, she continued her graduate studies at Teachers College, Columbia University where she focused on becoming an educator. Returning to her initial focus on mental health, she went on to graduate from the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology at Columbia and completed post-doctoral work in the educational, psychological, and neuropsychological assessment of learning disabilities, she continues to focus on the needs of youth in underserved areas and the disproportionate numbers in the criminal and juvenile justice systems. She now conducts forensic assessments in NY Courts and teaches as adjunct faculty at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the Amherst College Counseling Center’s Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, and Training, Darien McFadden. '88. Darien received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, and completed his doctoral internship at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Center for Counseling and Psychological Health. While at Colgate, Darien was a co-founder of the Prism, a Residential Advisor for two years, and majored in psychology and English Literature.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the elected official, educator, and entrepreneur, Jacqueline Colon Hernandez, '96. The Owner and Director of The Ark of Learning Childcare Center, Jacqueline has 20 years of experience as an educator. She has dedicated her professional life to meeting the developmental, social, and spiritual needs of children. While at Colgate, Jackie was the President of LASO and majored in Psychology.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the strategy and operations consultant, Yvonne Gyimah, '01. Yvonne has over 15 years of experience across multiple industries and fields. She has been heavily involved with Colgate since graduation. She has served on the Board of Trustees, Alumni Council, and been co-chair for the Alumni of Color. While at Colgate, Yvonne was on the soccer team for four years and majored in Sociology and Anthropology.
