Great Podcast, Here’s a Question
It’s very fun listening to your podcast, here’s my question: Did you know that some of your students (including me) are listening? Just wondering, and I wanted to say that your podcast is great!

Simply the Best
Simply the best music education podcast available, hands down. What the Stiles MS crew is doing is sharing the secrets of one of the most well-run and successful programs in the nation with everyone, in a way that is not condescending and is accessible to music educators in all situations. It will change your life!

Conversational learning!
Incredible resource for music education students, early career teachers, and old pros. I love feeling like I’m attending a staff meeting of one of the best middle school band programs in the country! The conversational style helps this very enjoyable to listen to.

Great insight, very real, relatability funny, and easy on the ears.
The insight from your Emmagram episode (plz excuse my spelling) was the game winner for me. The application of what you learn in teaching your student into each of y’all a lives is a breath of fresh air. I would love to see more of how each of y’all use daily challenges outside of the band to help sharpen your skills inside the band hall with the students personal development as they are become performers. Keep it guys!

Hello from AZ!
I remember hearing Stiles MS at the Midwest Clinic in 2015 and being amazed. A couple years later I see the After Sectionals paperclip video pop up and I was hooked. They are fantastic educators that have a great perspective. Texas and Arizona are different band worlds, but there’s so much that can be done well wherever you are. I’m always learning something new from them or hearing that I’m on the right track!

I’m a choir director and I still learn from this!
This is a great podcast for music educators. I enjoy talking shop and I enjoy listening to others talking shop on my drive and on my dog walks. I’m a choir director but there is still plenty that I learn from hearing these wonderful people. Thanks y’all!

Brilliantly Entertaining and Knowledgeable
The After Sectionals Podcast is amazing, relatable, and so very useful to band directors at all levels and experience. Once you get past your jealousy of their their set-up, they come off as brilliantly entertaining and knowledgeable.

Great teaching tips!
I love listening to Darcy, Jenna, and Alex talk about everything band, especially as a first year teacher in a one-band-director school district. Their discussions on teaching strategies are especially helpful. Would recommend!

Must hear!!!
I am in my 2nd year teaching high school after 11 years in middle school, and I wish I discovered this podcast years ago. I have learned so much pedagogy that I am using with my high schoolers who don't get nearly as much instruction in middle schools as Stiles does. I just wish they would do these more often!!!

Good for all levels of education
This podcast is awesome. Whether you’re new to instrumental music education, in the middle, or at the end, this is a great discussion. The three teachers talk about what they do, which gives you ideas or helps you introspect and evaluate if what you are already doing is (or isn’t) working. Do we all have a large band room, multiple teachers, beginner classes with only one instrument, and private lesson teachers? No. But do we all want to be the best instructors for our student? Of course! I appreciate that they noticed the missing conversation of beginning and middle level band, then interjected it in a way that is relatable.

This is coming from Southern California! Y’all are fricken amazing! I hope to work and teach with teachers as fun and passionate as you. I feel like you’re my long lost teacher friends. Thank you for shedding some amazing tips and insight into your program and affirming that I’m not alone. Keep it up! Much love!

Amazing teachers, amazing podcast!
I love the incredible, invaluable information these band directors provide in this podcast every week. How inspiring!! Teaching Rhythm Logically is wonderful as well--I wish we could buy more of the resources/warm-ups/methods they use with their students! Thank you!!

Excellent
Fabulous podcast with great content from a pedagogical and philosophical standpoint. I think every band director needs to make time to listen to this. Thank you to the Stiles staff for making this resource for everyone.

Awesome Podcast!
Educational, inspirational, hilarious - this podcast has it all. One of my friends introduced me to this podcast, after we had begun using "Teaching Rhythm Logically". I had never been into listening to podcasts, and yet I was hooked from the very first episode. The thoughts and insights shared by these directors has become the highlight of my week. Worth every minute of listening!

Simply the best band resource
They talk shop, cuss, and lay down the realities of modern band. They're inviting, intelligent, earnest; they're passionate and open the door for dialogue no matter who you are or what your teaching philosophies. (I have a hardcore band crush on this program)

Fantastic!!!
Thank you for this! I happened upon this after seeing it mentioned in the band director Facebook group. I've been listening nonstop since. I'm up to The Nightingale episodes. (Listening to those rehearsals is awesome, btw) I hope you all are able to keep this going a long, long time. Such great insights and advice. Can't wait to get totally caught up. Thanks again from this old Missouri band director! ☺️

Brilliant!
Listening to this podcast sure beats sitting through any professional develop your district might offer. The authenticity of their discussions has helped me improved as band director.

Awesome!
Due to budget cuts, I am currently the only instrumental music teacher in my school and listening to Darcy, Jenna and Alex reminds me what its like to have a team again. These three are not only smart, motivated, knowledgable, and clearly effective teachers, but they are willing to share what works and doesn't based on their experiences. They cover an array of topics and take suggestions for other things to talk about. An easy, entertaining listen that makes you remember you aren't alone.

Awesome conversations
Some of the best professional development is sitting around talking with other band directors. This podcast puts those conversations on my phone.

Must Hear!
Jenna, Darcy, and Alex have put together an incredible podcast that every band nerd/teacher should hear. They provide what you're always craving from those music conferences: something I can use tomorrow! I look forward to more interviews with their in-school private teachers and other band notables. If you've made it to the end of this review, SUBSCRIBE!!

Fascinated from the beginning
I'm glad you guys started this podcast, it's actually really cool listening to what goes through your mind as you choose our music or when you are teaching us. I really want to have a career in music education and this is the closest I'll get at this age to what goes through the mind of a teacher :)

Middle School Band Director
Love this podcast! It's great listening to people discuss ways to improve what I do on a day to day basis.

Love it!
So inspiring and refreshing to listen to teachers who truly love what they do and talk about it with a passion! Love the real life class sessions, where issues arise and the directors talk you through what they do to adjust and fix problems. These teachers are honest, real, and hilarious. This is an asset to anyone who wants to get better at middle school band directing.

The kind of collaboration I have always wanted.
As the title says, the banter presented in these unscripted, candid (sometimes NSFW) podcasts are what I have always dreamed of. While not always on topic, they do not shy away from the hard stuff. They are honest (sometimes brutally so) about their failures and other difficulties. While it is clear that Darcy is the head director, she clearly respects Alex and Jenna equally. That also said, their counting system has revived me. In two weeks of using Teaching Rhythm Logically, I have kids playing what I didn't think we were going to get to for months. I know I'm just another voice, but seriously: everybody could learn from their open and honest banter. Frankly, I didn't think this kind of colloboration even existed. NOTE: The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because not all NSFW words are bleeped. Otherwise, I'd pump it through my sound system.

Band Director
As a band director at a small rural school, I don't have a chance to "talk shop" with other BDs. This is a breath of fresh air to hear other directors talk about how they do their work. I hear new ways of doing things almost every episode.
Joetuba007
Do you know...
... that half hour after district band events that you spend in the parking lot, talking shop with other directors? This is that half hour. Or more. And it is awesome.
Eaevansmd
I could listen to this stuff all day
Whether you're a wide-eyed new teacher or a grizzled veteran, this team has something to offer you! I don't understand all the talk of chickens, but the BAND info is top shelf. They are engaging, humorous, witty, insightful, ORGANIZED, and willing to share their successes and failures with us for free. Band folks, do yourself a favor and check out this dynamic team of music educators. Thank you to the Stiles MS band staff for this quality resource!

Brilliant, Charming, Inspired, and Passionate Teachers
I love this podcast! They talk the talk because they most definitely walk the walk (I heard their group at Midwest... One word: Amazing). From instrument and ensemble pedagogy to teaching philosophies to program building to rehearsal techniques to how to balance your professional and personal lives... These guys cover it all. Oh, and they're very charming and funny to boot. This is a fun podcast that is of immense value to not only band directors but educators of every walk. This is what inspired teaching looks (or sounds) like!
