Great Podcast!
After Class Podcast has been a blessing to me. This podcast is always a good listen. If you are a new Christian, someone who has been following Jesus for a long time, or someone trained for and doing ministry for a while, this podcast is helpful, insightful and does a good job of exploring the nuances and “big rocks” of theology and Biblical exegesis. The three profs interact well, have fun, and are personable. Wherever you are on your faith journey, I would recommend this podcast.

Incredible Free Information about the Kingdom
Great podcast for all. Whether you’ve been a part of the Kingdom for years or a new member or even just trying to figure out what the Kingdom of God is all about - Ron, Sam, and John will challenge what you know (or what you think you know) about the biblical truths found in God’s word using sound techniques of interpretation to help you grow (if you’re willing) no matter where your walk is with God. Worth the commitment to listen to the incredible knowledge they share - for free!

Women in the Bible
Thank you so much for doing this podcast! It has been such a blessing in my life! I have deeply struggled with my role as a woman, my value to God, and especially 1 Timothy 2:11-14. I felt deeply disheartened and burdened by the view many people in the Church hold that women are only meant for having children and that we can’t teach men. As a lawyer, I have worked very hard to get to where I am in life and to be told that I should give that up and stay at home is crushing to me. I have done deep research into 1 Timothy 2, and I am confident that it is not a blanket prohibition on women teaching. My frustration is that many major pastors do not want to dig deep into this verse and that they only want to view the surface meaning. If we only take it at face-value, it means women must not just be saved by faith, but also by having children. What a tremendous weight that is! If that’s true, then I am not currently saved. Do pastors not realize what the implications are of their interpretation? Why do so many not take it seriously what they are saying to half the population? I’ve struggled so much that I have felt burdened by legalism and not loved by God. I read a book called “I Suffer Not a Woman” by Catherine and Richard Kroeger, and then I eventually found this podcast. Thank you so much for what you do! You have greatly contributed to my sense of freedom in the Lord! God bless all of you!

I love the process these guys use to dig into the word. I just finished the 15 part series of Women in the Bible. It was a revelation experience for me. It was a breakdown of reading in the Bible based on a topic (women) and started from Old to New Testament. Having the three professors from 3 different areas of study give a well rounded view of the scriptures. It has changed how I read and study my Bible and I will be forever grateful. Can’t wait to hear more.

Refreshing
It’s rare that a Podcast makes me ramble to my spouse and look up scripture for days (or weeks). I have no formal theology background and listen to this on my commute (to a non-“ministry” job). I appreciate how they go through each topic piece by piece and dive deep into what the Bible actually says. I’ve never been one to just believe what someone tells me, so the amount of actual scripture they use and how they point out the different views people may have on it is appreciated.

Great Podcast!
I can’t say enough good about what these guys bring every episode! It’s practical, intentional, sound biblical application that is easy to follow and understand. After graduating seminary I’ve struggled to find spiritual resources outside of the church that I connect well with. The After Class Podcast has been a stable place to help feed my faith, challenge my understandings, and point me towards Jesus. Thanks for a great podcast guys! I recommend it to all of my friends and know so many who love it as well!

Continually a great listen! I learn, I laugh, I forget we’re not best friends. Their conversations challenge the way I view the world around me without having me leave feeling flooded with concepts over my head. Big fan! I’m constantly recommending it to friends.

Thankful for this podcast
I am so glad I heard about this podcast this year! Hands down my favorite podcast! I have learned so much about the Bible and I have been so encouraged. As I have been reading through the Old Testament, many of their episodes have fleshed out concepts I may not have otherwise understood or that I may have missed. Thank you for using your God-given gifts for enriching the lives of everyone who listens!

Nerdy theology that I can understand
My husband has a seminary degree from moody and has lovingly referred to this as his nerdy theology podcast for as few years in our marriage. I wrote it off figuring it would be dry and over my head and I’m so thrilled that I took a chance and listened in! My reaction was “wait, I understand what they are saying and this makes sense!” Thankful for super solid teaching that makes good theology accessible to everyone! Also my husband would love to meet you guys at the Brew for a cup coffee. Or a job interview. He would be honored to sweep your classrooms. He’s a fanboy. Okay that’s all. Go green!

My new favorite podcast
I just discovered these guys last week and I have no idea why it took me so long. I’m an avid Christian/Bible podcast listener and the format and thorough content...and humility of these guys is unmatched. I just listened to 7 straight hours on the atonement and “Why Jesus had to die” and they I learned so much from their unbiased exegesis and comparisons of the different “theories”.

Not all episodes available?
I’m trying to finish the sexuality series but it looks like most of season 2 has disappeared.

In depth and thought provoking
I’ve been on a quest for high quality exegetical biblical teaching and certainly found the After Class podcast to fulfill that purpose. The topics are explored with attention to detail, references to prior scholarship, and instructions for a solid hermeneutical approach. I’m so hungry for the scripture on its own terms, and have enjoyed this podcast so much I’ve blazed through a huge amount of the content in the past 3 months.

Favorite podcast
This is my favorite podcast. The what the Bible says about women series was transformational and so healing for so much of what I was told and experienced as a child. I appreciate the in-depth dive into complicated passages and cultural background to help go beyond our shallow assumptions we make based on our current culture.

New, but getting caught up listener

Recommend for all learners
I graduated from a seminary in 2007 and life just makes it impossible to continue in active learning and this has allowed me to do so. It also is easy enough to understand if not seminary trained to understand and learn and grow. Highly recommend

Constantly recommend! Excellent work
I am a bible teacher and constantly recommend this podcast to my audience, especially their work on women and sexuality. Thoughtful, biblical, and gracious - a hard combo to find!! Love their approach to touchy topics and thorough exploration of the historical and biblical basis for orthodox Christianity.

Excellent for amateurs and scholars alike.
The amount of detail and evidence brought to the table between these three is sometimes overwhelming (in a good way). I find myself listening to each episode multiple times thru the week to get everything, such good content every time. Whether I agree or not.

Very refreshing
I appreciate your tackling of hard subjects. You expound your point of view without beating others over the head with it. Thanks for doing such heavy lifting so others can see a point of view we have not had time to research.

Great podcast
Studying the Bible isn't an easy or quick process. Acquiring a deep knowledge of scripture requires a lifetime committment to seeking God's truth and bending our spirits to accept it. These three do a great job of providing relevant discussions on wide-ranging spiritual/cultural topics. And the best part about it: their discussions are centered in God's Word. The episodes are entertaining, challenging, and thought-provoking. Well worth the time investment.

Challenges what our Biblical World view truly should be
I have listened to all the podcasts through 3.1. This is a great resource to put scripture in to context; away from modern western Christianity, and challenging some of our secularized beliefs. #PhD3

Top Notch!!!
Excellent podcast for those wanting to hear serious conversation regarding Biblical truth. As a former Student Pastor and current Associate Pastor, these podcasts have been VERY helpful. Ron, John, and Sam do a comprehensive job of highlighting the multiple views of scriptural understanding, while at the same time bring out the original cultural understanding and apply that to modern day implications. Keep up the good work. You are much appreciated!!!

Excellent resource for perspective on the Bible, Church, and Christianity
This podcast has been very informative. They really try to take a thoughtful approach to understanding the Bible, the Church, and Christianity. I highly recommend it for people that want to be informed by 3 scholars that take the Faith seriously. I've shared this podcast with a number of people, and they have found it helpful in focusing their understanding of the gospel, of a Biblical perspective on gender, and of issues in the Bible that are either hard to understand, or that are points of disagreement among the faithful.

How Do You Know What You Know? I Know Now!
I became acquainted with John Nugent via another podcast. I have read his book Endangered Gospel twice, wearing out two highlighters. He mentioned this podcast during one of the sessions when co-hosting the other podcast. I checked it out and have not looked back. I have shared many of the 'episodes' with other Brothers and Sisters in our local Kingdom community and elsewhere. I am going to be facilitating an adult class next quarter. I am going to be using a variety of sources, starting with the Bible, along with what I have learned from these podcasts, Dr Nugent's book, and other sources via Frank Viola's books and podcasts, which I also enjoy. One of the things I really like about this podcast with the "Three Musketeers" (as I sometimes call them) is that they are not trying to convince you or tell you what you should believe. They put the information out there, backing up their postulations and suggestions with Scripture, along with historic, recorded information at times. It's up to you to decide. I like the composition of this group, simply because you have an Old Testament, New Testament/Greek and a Theologian. Between the three of them, it makes for interesting discussions. On the lite side, I find Sam Long's sarcasm and bantering with and at Ron Peters to be unique and makes the podcasts entertaining, as well as informative and educational. They kid each other, laugh, call out some of their own personal and collective challenges. That makes the podcast have a 'human' face, and also let's you know that even PhD's, scholars are still learning. If like me, and you want what you think you knew challenged, then I would encourage you to listen to the After Class podcast. I know now what I thought I already knew. A good deal of what I realized I did not know came from my own faith tradition and how it was shared in messages from the 'pulpit' and 'SS classes' for the most part. Sometimes this happens, as what one generation 'learned' is simply passed on to another, without the verification and study to continue sharing that information as fact/correct theology, as it were. It has been very helpful, educational and thought provoking.

Discipleship=Mambership
This most recent episode spoke to me when it mentions the relationship of discipleship to community. So many important topics are faced with a scholarly, open minded approach.

Great content with exegetical insights
I really appreciate the work these 3 put into these topics. Their approach is very Biblical and takes the texts seriously in their own contexts. The series on women was very enlightening.

A Great Dialogue
Drs. Peters, Nugent, and Long do an excellent job engaging academically with the Text and current scholarship while at the same time maintaining a level of approachability that academia can sometimes lack. They bring different perspectives together to offer a thorough and humble interpretation of Scripture as well as parsing current events, church culture, and world history. A worthwhile listen that pulls back the curtain on theology to let anyone see the nuts and bolts.

Give it a listen
I love this podcast so much. I find that my presumptions are challenged, causing me to dive deeper into the scriptures. If you take the time to give it a listen, you will be challenged, too.

Educated AND Smart
It has been said there are no smarter people, just more educated people. Drs. Sam Long, John Nugent and Ron Peters are intelligent and well educated. Too many podcasts - secular and sacred - are little more than echo chambers merely regurgitating the beliefs of those who tune in. They don't expand horizons; they deepen partisan entrenchments. The After Class Podcast is different. The presenters are at home with nuanced conversation and are comfortable leaving a question unsettled or an issue unresolved. Emanating from a faith tradition that espouses "In essentials unity; in non-essentials liberty; and in all things love," they recognize that well-meaning people who've studied the issues can disagree without being disagreeable. That isn't to say they're unwilling to take a stand. They are. But when they drive a stake in the ground it is embedded in the Gospel if not always in the expectations of so-called traditional evangelicals. When they draw a line - even one that is unpopular - it reflects the ethos of Jesus Christ and Him working through His people to expand the Kingdom of God. I highly recommend you listen.

Much needed Biblical analysis
I've currently reading Nugent's book - Endangered Gospel - and am finding it truly liberating. These guys offer deeply coherent and logical Biblical analysis that provided much needed light againt many misconceptions within the church culture. Keep it up!
