
The Federal Government will outline its policy position for the marginal field bid round to eligible awardees who have fully or partly complied with signature bonus payment in the 2020 marginal field programme. It says the policy position would be made public at a forum being planned by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission in Abuja. It says all eligible awardees and relevant international oil companies associated with the MFBR were expected to attend the meeting.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says China will appoint a special envoy for the Horn of Africa to help tackle security challenges in the region. He says they will continue to play even a bigger role for peace and stability in the region. The minister is on a tour of three countries in eastern Africa which began in Eritrea and concludes in the Indian Ocean island of Comoros. The Chinese minister's tour to the region coincides with the visit by the US special envoy to the Horn of Africa, Jeffrey Feltman, who is due to arrive in Ethiopia on Thursday to discuss the 14-month civil war in the northern part of the country.

Two dozen countries have joined a U.S. - and EU-led effort to slash methane emissions 30% by 2030 from 2020 levels, giving the emerging global partnership momentum ahead of its launch at the U.N. climate summit in Glasgow later this month.The pledge will now cover 60% of global GDP and 30% of global methane emissions. If fulfilled, it would have a significant impact on the energy, agriculture and waste sectors responsible for the bulk of methane emissions.The U.S. State Department and EU confirmed that the new signatories include Canada, the Central African Republic, Congo-Brazzaville, Costa Rica, Cote Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Micronesia, France, Germany, Guatemala, Guinea, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malta, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Rwanda, Sweden and Togo.

Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami says It is on record that between 2001 and 2019, the Federal Government allocated the total sum of approximately N6 trillion to the Niger Delta Development Commission.He says the figure is an indication that the Federal Government has allocated a good amount of funds to the development of Nigeria’s oil-bearing region.He, however, expressed concern over uncompleted and some unverified projects in the Niger Delta despite the allocations.
