Affliction Fiction is a podcast for WNYU that ran from October 2017 to May 2019. It examines diseases and disorders that are created by writers and artists for their fictional works. What symptoms characterize these made-up maladies? What real-world medical conditions do they most closely resemble? What role does a fictional illness serve in a text, and why would a writer choose to invent one?
