Awesome Host
The host is great!

Inexperienced host
I only came to this podcast to hear the episode with Marty Tankleff. I am fascinated and horrified at the high level of wrongful convictions in the country. I would’ve continued to listen to other episodes, but the host is awful. She sounds like a kid interviewing someone for a school project .

Love it!!!
I hate to hear about wrongful convictions but I am a fan of true Crime and it brings joy to me that they get their name cleared and dirty things get exposed Like hiding evidence etc

Thank you
On behalf of the many Americans who feel or felt like wrongful conviction was some isolated occurrence, I thank you for telling these stories. I am greatly disturbed by the state of our criminal justice system on every level! It is way past time for reform. I feel I have learned so much through your podcast and many others. My heart breaks for the exhonerees and for those who are still unjustly behind bars. I feel compelled to help in some way! Please continue to share with your listeners ways we can help the cause of criminal justice reform and/or helping those affected by wrongful conviction.

Love what you’re doing.
I love the this podcast. People are being wrongfully accused everyday and she is bringing it out in the open. For all the harsh critics, this is a free form of entertainment to but it costs her money to make. Leave the negative thoughts out and look at the positive side.

Fantastic!
I love the work that Brooke has done, and I always look forward to what’s coming up next. We share an interest in the wrongfully convicted. I hope to meet her someday!

Very interesting
This podcast is extremely interesting. I love hearing about these cases from the people who experienced it. Sometimes the audio is difficult to hear depending on how it was recorded and sometimes the person isn’t very detailed in certain aspects that I think would be interesting to know. That being said, are just simply my preferences. I feel if the host told a majority of the story and included the person affected periodically then it may be more polished but I also realize that this would solely be for entertainment purposes. This podcast is not solely for entertainment, it’s so these people can tell their stories and the injustice that happened to them which is why I totally understand why the podcast is set up the way it is and still love to listen to it.

Not my favorite
I love listening to podcasts regarding law and justice; however not this one. I feel this host is inexperienced and her voice modulation is not convincing. She has a kilt to her voice leaving the listener questioning her maturity and knowledge of the topic. Also I feel she is always pleading for money for her personal use. Her financial experience is not relevant to this topic.

Can’t do it
I agree with many of the other lower ratings on this podcast. I agree that Brooke comes off as trite and her stories really have no depth. The first thing I wondered about from the first episode was her age because of her voice as well as the content. This has nothing to do with gender as she wanted to claim to her audience in season 1, I love the podcast Accused, which is narrated by a woman and I love listening to Rabia and Susan from Undisclosed.

Male Host is awful
I like the stories of the wrongfully convicted, but I hate how much chatter there is about random stuff at the beginning of the episodes. Also the Male host is absolutely horrendous. He adds NOTHING interesting. Just repeats the lines awkwardly.

Great
This is an amazing podcast. I love that you’re giving a voice to the wrongfully accused.

Seriously such a good and important podcast!
I am so thrilled I stumbled upon this podcast I’m binging it till I’m caught up. Thank you Brooke! You’re a really good podcaster, you ask great questions and I like your delivery.

Not good
If I could get past the improper English ("you were" is not difficult to correct at least in your radio podcast language) I still couldn't get behind the lack of preparation before interviews. It's like nothing is learned about the cases and no homework is done prior. There are a TON of good true crime podcasts out there and this is NOT one of them.

Actual Innocence
I love the Actual Innocence Podcast, I think that Brook and DeMarco are really good hosts, and DeMarco has really come a long way since his first episode. I am very sad to hear that they will no longer be. To Brook and DeMarco, good luck in any future endeavors, you two will be missed.

I tried
I have tried to like this podcast because the stories need to be heard, but I can’t get past the host.

I love the hosts and the topic is really interesting.

Such an Important Podcast!
I’m halfway through the first season and hooked! Wish I had found it sooner. Brooke and her team do an incredible job getting these shocking stories out in the public, exposing the flaws in our justice system! To say it’s eye-opening is an understatement.

Trite and Unprofessional
I would have liked this show if the hosts had some inkling of the case beforehand. Do some research and present the facts to your listeners. Tell us what happened and why the person was wrongly convicted. How did the system fail? You're relying too much on the story as presented by the innocent person, which is often biased and incomplete. And questions like "What was it like in prison?"... really? I tried listening to a couple episodes but couldn't take it anymore. Pass.

Awesome!
I work in Corrections and it’s devastating to know how many people are in our system wrongly convicted. I’m truly disappointed with some in Law Enforcement for getting tunnel vision on a suspect. Our whole system needs to be thrown out and revamped.
Dragonwings121
Eye opening
This podcast screams out about how broken and corrupted the criminal justice system is. It seems when a crime is committed everyone is suspected. Helping investigators as a willing witness is done with naive risk. Investigators assumption is one could be guilty rather that a presumably innocent bystander. There should be a law that restricts witnesses from sharing their information with police without an attorney. I can’t believe any jailhouse (lier) witnesses are given any merit especially when they benefit by be given privileges, they can be coached to basically say any false statement. Scary Podcast!

It’s a shame
Saw this recommended on iTunes. The cases are meaningful, sad and help the world learn about wrongful convictions. It’s the narration that needs to change. I’m sorry, it’s boring and monotone. Other reviews about it sounding like a high schooler are right. I thought it would get better in later episodes but it didn’t.

Opened my eyes
The Freddy Gray case opened my eyes on how our judicial system truly hurting and needs to be fixed. Listening to the podcast and hearing the many many year that innocent people have served time for crimes they didn’t commit. The way the judicial system has let so many down. And it’s so racially one sided. It’s totally not fair! Hearing the different stories of their life in prison and then when they are released they some have come out wanting to help fix the problem or help those who many not have the resources to make it back into the real life is amazing. They are taking their bad experience to help others just like them. Amazing, is all I can think!

Wonderful!
Actual Innocence is such a wonderful podcast. I appreciate Brooke’s approach to the podcast, she has created a platform those who are actually innocent to tell their stories. I love that she doesn’t pretend to be an expert in the criminal justice system allowing those who have experienced being incarcerated or the professionals she speaks with to educate the listers. She’s doing such a great job of advocating! Great job I love the podcast!

Passionate Podcasting
Very few podcasters are as passionate about their craft as is Brooke Gittings. She tirelessly advocates for innocence for those wrongly convicted. This comes through in such an amazing way in this series. Definitely worth a listen.

Fascinating true crime podcast!
Great interviewer. Fascinating stories. I'm hooked!

Good
Gets a little repetitive

Unbelievable!
This is real life for how many people? I saw my cousin suffer under the 3 strikes law, when he really needed drug treatment. To be accused of murder, that you did not do, is inconceivable to me.

Stories that need to be told!
Tragic stories...the host is a bit difficult to listen to, often repeating exactly what the guest has just said.

A generally good podcast
I think Brooke does a good job generally with this podcast. Some of her questions (like what can a normal person do) get really repetative. With something like this, I think it's best to give the interviewee the bulk of the talking time. The hosts shouldn't really talk about themselves much. Extra things, like the trivia they've started doing at the beginning, is an unnessessarily long. If Brooke wants to share those facts, I'd rather a 1 sentence summary than a drawn out conversation. I also think that Demarchoe seems like a lot of what he's saying are just questions handed to him by Brooke. I don't understand why the show needs a second cohost. One cohost can already getting the job done, and two seems the hosts are just talking too much.

Could do without the random reading of definitions
I don't need you to read me definitions from the dictionary.

Great Concept, Boring Host
These stories need to be told and heard, but I can't listen to the host anymore. I wish that Payne Lindsey could take over the hosting/production, then this podcast would be awesome! Seriously Brooke, let the new guy host please

"I wanted to know..."
Why does Brooke deliver these stories like an eighth-grade oral report? Her delivery is SO annoying with her stilted way of speaking, and the production quality overall is mediocre. (also why does she only use her first name- weird) It's too bad because these are incredible, fascinating stories! Would love if the 'cast got a new host.

Voices and stories matter
Brooke gets advocacy and activism. This podcast is phenomenal in the way It centers the voices of the oppressed and downtrodden and brings to light the many systemic and individual injustices that create and sustain wrongful convictions. By focusing on the stories of the exonerated, Brooke and her guests illuminate for the public what kinds of issues are occurring for the wrongfully imprisoned, as well as all who are or have been incarcerated. She is an amazing podcaster with a huge heart. I am so grateful for the immense amount of effort she puts into her podcasts. Actual innocence is well worth your time. But have tissues ready. These stories will break your heart and inspire you to volunteer for your local innocence project.

Good Subject, Amateur Host
What's most notable about Greg Taylor's story is how well he tells his story; he's clearly speaking extemporaneously (not reading, not memorized), and he's incredibly articulate and well-spoken. It's an odd juxtaposition with the host: she sounds as though she's reading an unfamiliar script (and maybe she is). Good subject, articulate interviewees, good editing, excellent audio quality make up for the host's inexperience...maybe she'll learn as she goes? If so, the podcast will move from a shaky, just-barely-four-stars to a solid four stars.

Riveted.
I read the description and immediately downloaded every single episode. I have been absolutely riveted to this podcast. I love Brooke and her positive outlook. The men and women who have been exonerated have touched me in an unreal way. Their stories are unreal... I strongly urge you to listen to this podcast!!

Important Work
Excellent podcast giving voice to people who have been victimized by the legal system...

Amazing stories!
I love this podcast more and more every episode. The stories are incredible and the format is easy-to-digest.

Like the podcast, cannot listen to the host
The host does a terrible job of telling the story of the exonerated. I like the concept, but Wrongfully Convicted with Jason Flom is MUCH better. The host in this seems to be talking really slowly, and just asking weird questions. Can't subscribe anymore.

Can't get enough!!!
One of my fav podcasts! Love that Brooke helps the exonerees tell their story to the public! I had no clue they get absolutely no help from the justice system once they are released from being wrongfully convicted! Keep up the great work on educating the public!!!

Podcast with a purpose and passion
A must listen if you like true crime or release of innocent people from jails.
Gossamer_Wings
A must-listen podcast!!
It is so amazingly scary that so many people have been convicted for crimes that they had never committed and learning about their stories is so important. It's great that Brooke gives us information on how to help! You need to listen to this podcast!!

It's actually good
The actual stories and information is really interesting; the stories are told through the person that went through them, but it's the narrator of the actual show that's really boring to listen to. If you take the time to listen it's really worth it

Great podcast
Never disappointing!

Similar problem to Truth and Justice.
The first 3 episodes were amazing. The story was in depth and fascinating. It covered one case of a wrongful conviction. Moving forward though, the cases offered less and less information. Instead of details concerning the crime and how the wrongful conviction took place, the hosts asks questions like "what would you say to someone who was wrongfully convicted?" How would someone in prison who is wrongfully convicted hear this message? My understanding is that they don't have access to podcasts. Also, like Bob Ruff the host says she is advocate for social justice and wants to change the justice system. How is this done? Who knows. I'm almost done with season 1, and she never explains. She does donate to an innocence project, which is a great and noble cause, but that is using the means of our current system to appeal and overturn a conviction. This is not changing our current system. There is a lot of potential here, and I appreciate her empathy with those who were wrongfully convicted. I also like her voice even though she is self conscious about it and hardly talks. I hope this review will be used as constructive criticism!

Host is super annoying
It gets really old hearing about how the host can't pay her car bills or other expenses. Get another job & stop relying on this podcast. We don't care if you can't pay your bills. Seriously. Make the podcast 99% the exonerated people talking & stop with your annoying voice & complaints.
