Something for all lovers of chemistry and science
Where else can you find weekly tidbits on chemistry? Other podcasts avoid it because it can seem dry or irrelevant to a broad audience. But Science Elements is spot on in creating a collection of science news stories that are interesting, rigorous, light-hearted, current, and relevant to any chemistry discipline and science generalists alike. Every podcast has a theme; listening to the speaker relate dissimilar areas of chemistry is part of the fun of the podcast. The source journal of the news story is always mentioned so you can look it up for more information. I have to admit, that the authors voice is a little dull, but he is easy to understand, and I wish the podcast was longer or included interviews or highlighted a single topic in more detail, but maybe that will come in the future. Overall, the podcast is delightful to listen to. I think chemists and scientists everywhere will enjoy it.

Weekly Current Science from the American Chemical Society
I learned about this podcast in an issue of C&E News, distributed by the American Chemical Society to its members several months ago. This podcast is a short, usually less than ten minutes, presentation of very fresh science every week. The science is pulled from just published journals, so the listener truly is getting the newest information. The podcast consists of a single narrator reading scripted news stories about science. There are several things that could improve the podcast, such as interviews and varying hosts. However, this podcast is what it is: basically a 5-10 news broadcast on the current week's latest scientific findings. If you are interested in keep abreast of the current scientific finding in all fields of science, then this short, weekly podcast is a nice addition to the more entertaining science retinue.
