Makes me so happy
I love this podcast. It’s cozy, spooky and supernatural while still being warm and character driven. Well written and well narrated. Tip to new listeners- I did not care for the first episode or two- give it a chance and power through because that initial tone isn’t indicative of the rest of the show.

Nice!
I like it! Still on season 1 and like it so far!

Original Premise
I’m 5 episodes in and I have to give the author credit for an original premise: what happens if you hand a coming of age story with call-to-adventure to a protagonist who’s not competent enough to handle it? What happens when you tell your audience in the first 5 minutes that your protagonist is self-assured and confident, but then spend the next 5 episodes having LITERALLY (and I mean literally) every other character they come across walk over them like a rug? Well, if you want to find out: listen to this show.

Hidden gem, excellent over many seasons!
This show is one of the best audio dramas I have listened to, and I have easily listened to several hundred. It’s been at the bottom of my list for a while, but I wasn’t sure about it. I was so wrong to hold off. Not only is it one of the best I have ever heard; it may actually be the very BEST at continuing to be good over multiple seasons. Such a perfect combination of horror and humor.

Fun and engaging story
This is a great story told by an amazing storyteller

Great storytelling, but they need a good editor
The story itself is riveting. The storytelling is superb. The cooking metaphors and imagery are delightful. And by and large, the whole series flows well, with an entertaining plot and truly interesting characters. The only caveat is a weekly smattering of consistent grammatical errors that a solid editor would catch.

The best cozy horror I never knew I needdd
This show is just so amazing. It feels like a warm mug of my favorite coffee on a crisp fall day. Amy’s narration and J-B’s writing are stellar. I just found them 3 days ago and I’m already nearly finished. They are fantastic. I need more

I love everything about this podcast. It has sucked me in just in time for spooky season!

Compelling
I resisted this podcast because I don’t like “following the crowd”. But I relented and I wasn’t halfway through the first way episode and I was hooked. Just enough drama, I don’t like a lot of drama, just the way of life for Miriam. And the raccoons. Oh I am smitten with them! It is magical how the story plays out. I love it.

What a fun, interesting story
Stumbled onto Achewillow through another podcast service, just finished season 1 and so glad to see there are many more to listen to!!

Come for the Ratings. Stay for the Raccoons.
The flawed narrator and her crazy, but relatable world regularly makes me smile, frown, laugh, cry, and talk out loud like the characters can hear me.😅 Every time I hear the intro music I get giddy.

Best Podcast I have ever heard
This was a great story and greatly told, I can’t believe there is such a story that I can listen to almost every day. The story being told and all of this combined creates such a good story that someone can’t stop listening.

Beautifully done!
I do not hand out five star reviews Willynilly. This review is given with neither Willy nor Nelly, but with joy for having had this story suggested as “people who listen to that podcast may enjoy…” and sure enough, I am thoroughly enjoying it. The plot, woman on the brink of financial devastation, a convenient inheritance, and the threat of a serial killer, is pulled off by the author’s skill in describing a setting that carries the strength of a main character. The reader of the podcast is equally skilled, and brought the characters to life. I will definitely be checking out more of this author’s and audio artist’s work!

A beautiful story
I’ve just finished season one and I am addicted to the story. I was looking for a new listen just to pass some time and didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I am but I am hooked and can’t get enough! The characters are wonderfully fleshed out and have so much personality. It has a wonderful blend of realistic and supernatural.

Where has this been hiding?!
I absolutely love this podcast. Storytelling at its finest. Very cool story and the narration isn’t over the top or silly. I am invested.

Love it!
The title says it all, I started listening to Achewillow at work this week and I’m on Season 2. It’s all I listen to right now. It helps the day go better. Amy reads it beautifully, I love the story and I can’t wait to hear what happens next. Everyone should get on over to Achewillow and have a listen. You won’t be disappointed.

What an awesome podcast
Seriously this is up there with Nightvale for me! I’m having so much fun catching up on this pod. I’m glad I randomly clicked on it.

A marvel of storytelling
I stumbled upon Achewillow while browsing for another story. J-F. DuBeau’s writing is rich and intriguing - touching all the senses - and not letting go. Amy Frost’s narration is riveting - although this is a single narrator podcast - she manages to embody different characters with only subtle changes of her voice. I’m in season two and irretrievably hooked.

I really like it BUT….
This is a great story!! However it’s not adapted for audio storytelling. The narration is verbose and better suited for a book. This would be an EXCELLENT book. I also am desperate for some audio effects. I wonder why they chose the narrator to be 18? The voice sounds much, MUCH older than 18 and it seems like there’s no real advantage to her being so young.

One of my all time favourites
I simply adore this show, the story telling and characters are intriguing and relatable all in a spooky yet optimistic shade of green, I am so glad I found this show.

Delightful
Achewillow has become my favorite podcast. It’s unique without being too odd to relate to. Great writing, great performance, and a genuine delight to listen to. Only problem, my baking and French pastry consumption has increased significantly since I discovered this podcast. Keep up the good work.

I love this podcast!
I love the cadence of this narrator and love the story as well. Such a good story.

PLEASE SAY, Season 5 is NOT THE END!
I’ve been trying to find a podcast that will satisfy my longing for more Achwillow episodes… BUT, No Such Luck! Please say that this is not the end.

This is an amazing story!! Fun, scary, quirky, so interesting
I really love this story. I am only on the first season right now and am so excited to find that there are 4 more that I can listen to. Definitely check this one out.

Love this story!!!
I wish I had found this podcast earlier! A great fantasy drama with a little horror mixed in, great characters, all set in a place I wish I could visit. I wasn't sure I liked the main character at first, she seems much older than she is supposed to be, but she has really grown on me. I feel happy when she's happy, angry when she's angry. And now I want to go bake 😆 I'm only on Season 3 and already sad there's only 2 more so far!

Wow - can’t get enough
This is SO GOOD! Seriously other than a handful of random podcast, this is the first time I’ve listened to anything on apple podcast. And it’s so good I can’t get enough. I started listening yesterday. Im already on episode 8. A little bit mystery, a little bit magical, small town, cooking and baking… the writing and production is great. It’s so entertaining and the main character is funny. I love her thoughts and comments - to herself and others. I love the intro music. Love all the delightful characters along the way, including “the don”! Love to feel immersed in this world. And the story has me hooked! Thank you creators! What fun to be a part of!

Decent story, unlikeable protagonist
The main character is so insufferable and hard to listen to. The story itself is fine, but I REALLY hate the character

Cozy, witchy, october-appropriate!
Ideal podcast to listen to while sipping some coffee, listening to the leaves rustle. One of the best podcasts out there! Thank you, JF and Amy!

Fun story
I admit to really liking the magical realism genre, and this series fits the bill. I’ve also enjoyed Amy Frosts narration. Looking forward to season 2 😊

My favorite podcast
This is my favorite podcast. In my down time I love to escape into fiction, and this podcast crates perfect immersive environment. I absolutely love the story, the characters, and the honesty that the main character faces herself with. In response to a one star review about the main character being arrogant, she grows far more likable as the story unfolds, Miram being unlikeable in the first few episodes is just a stage for character development. Thank you so much for sharing this story with us and all of the hard work that you put into creating this podcast. I can’t wait for more!

Delectably Delicious Daliances with Demons, Double-Layered Cakes, and Death!
Deftly written, excellently produced (just a few instances of blips in the production quality, but all rectified quickly), with a voice talent I could listen to all day (and just did), Achewillow offers you a whimsical romp through an equally whimsical town split down the middle not just by an international border but by a terrifying and entertaining strain of horror and layered with history, magical oddities, and characters that all make up the most delicious croissant you’ve ever had the pleasure of consuming (the lead will tell you just that, by the way). This delectable smorgasbord of tantalizing mysteries and unique twists on classic horror tropes leaves you only wanting two things: a second serving, thank you very much, and the answer to the town’s most titillating question: what the heck is an Achewillow tree? But don’t ask the town’s underrated star, Helen Edna, Notary Public. Her answer will singe your ears like a grade school teacher’s reprimand.

Can’t
I finished season one - and done. Really dislike the arrogant (for no reason) main character and I can’t listen to the narrator any more. Not for me on many levels.
Girl Sleuth
Wonderfully cozy, and spooky
Well written and fun story about a young girl trying to find herself, when she is put in to a very strange situation on a quirky little town on the US/Canada border. Expertly performed and produced, this show is a joy to listen to. Amy Frost and JF Dubeau combine to craft a story that is eerie, intriguing, and keeps you wanting more

One of the Best….
Achewillow has become one of my favorite podcasts ever. A unique combination of quirky stories, great writing and perfect storytelling makes is what a lot of it’s competitions want to be.

I don’t get the hype - also, gross!
I had high expectations from all the great reviews… I have one episode left of season 2 but I just can’t go on. I gave it a go…but it’s just so boring. It’s not horror. It’s not like Twin Peaks. And *spoiler alert* they made a teenage character into a “lust demon” who has to be intimate to survive… and they have the adult characters jizzing themselves over her, even though she’s described as a troubled teen… gross! No thank you. There are so many other podcasts out there, I won’t waste anymore time on this one.

Surprises at every turn!
I love the unpredictable storyline and relatable characters. The author and storyteller do an amazing job adding just enough details and drama without it being superfluous. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more!

"Just add Magic" meets a horror movie
It's a little more "Just Add Magic" than horror, but it's great storytelling nonetheless, and won't give you nightmares.

Love! Love! Love!
I completely binged this show and am now sad I have to wait for new episodes.

Exceptionally well done
The writing is excellent, with incredibly rich characters, fully developed scenery, great balance of internal monologue and dialogue, absolutely perfect pacing, and twists and turns that will surprise you. The narration is every bit as good, with inflections which highlight the nuance of situations, only enough effects (the door chimes!) to enhance the story without detracting from it, and excellent audio quality. I couldn’t say which is better. I have suggested this podcast to more people than almost any other. This is worth your time (binge season one and judge for yourself) and, if I’m honest, this is the first podcast that I’d actually like to see adapted to film.
