As part of the Austrian Embassy in Beijing, the Cultural Forum and the Office of Science and Technology proudly presents its Podcast “Lets talk future”.  In todays episode I had the great pleasure to talk to Elke Kellner, current managing directress of ICOM Austria as well as board member of ICOM Europe, about  current initiatives of the International Council, and moreover about the upcoming international museum day.

The Albertina has one of the largest and most valuable graphical collection in the world, with works such as Dürer’s “Hare” and Klimt's studies of women. And - to a large extent thanks to its general director Klaus Albrecht Schröder - this collection at present also includes masterpieces of the Modern, spanning Monet to Picasso and Baselitz. He has been the head of the museum for more than two decades and during this times turned the former Albertina Collection of Prints and Drawings into a modern, internationally positioned museum.

The director of the now 130-year-old Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien is art historian Sabine Haag. Under her direction, great works of art from over 5000 years of human history come to life. The museum enjoys high recognition worldwide. Carrying the historical heritage into future generations, leaving an ecological footprint, remaining internationally networked and at the same time conveying the relaxed atmosphere of Vienna - Sabine Haag has mastered this balancing act.

The Leopold Museum in Vienna inherits the most important collection of Egon Schiele works. Like no other, it stands for Viennese modernism. The place is imbued with passion thanks to its current museum director Hans-Peter Wipplinger. His unique view on not only exhibition design, but also audience consideration gives the museum a suitable compass for the future.

The Museum of Applied Arts (MAK) is one of its kind. With Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, it also had a correspondingly exceptional director until the end of August 2021. The MAK combines traditional with contemporary art in a unique way and has a focus on the younger generations. The MAK lives art, design and architecture, always keeping the sustainability of its work in mind.
