1. A ship carrying aid for Gaza could depart from Cyprus within two days, according to Cyprus’s foreign ministry. This would be the second such aid shipment after 200 tonnes of food were delivered to the enclave on Friday. The UN has repeatedly warned of a looming famine in Gaza. Reuters reported that ceasefire talks in Qatar would resume on Sunday.

Reuters reported that Starshield, a subsidiary of SpaceX that serves government and military customers, signed a classified $1.8bn contract with the intelligence agency in 2021.

3. A Ukrainian strike on the Russian region of Belgorod killed two people. A separate attack set ablaze an oil refinery in Syzran, a city south-east of Moscow. Russia prevented an attack on a second refinery. Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on critical infrastructure this week as Russians take part in three days of voting in sham elections.

4. A militant group killed seven members of Pakistan’s security forces who were stationed at the border with Afghanistan, according to Pakistan’s armed forces. The attackers set off suicide bombs and detonated a vehicle filled with explosives. Jaish-e-Fursan-e-Muhammad, a Pakistani-based group, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The fault was found after the plane had touched down. In January a Boeing 737 Max 9 shed a panel that had covered a doorway during an Alaska Airlines flight. A preliminary report by America’s National Transportation Safety Board later found that four key bolts were missing from the panel.

They opposed a proposed extradition bill, since abandoned, that would have allowed for people accused of crimes in mainland China to be sent there for trial.
