So here I am... 29 years old and I’ve never experienced the loss that comes with the passing of a loved one. In many ways that is a tremendous blessing. Instead of being grateful for such a blessing, I took it for granted. For 29 years, the one thing that I knew I had a lot of was time. When I would choose work over family, I would always tell myself that when I “made it” I would be able to spend time with them and create memories. It never occurred to me that I was missing out on creating memories in the moment of NOW. On September 27, 2020 my life changed forever. I lost my grandfather. I found myself in this foreign space that I refer to as The Realm of Loss. I had no way of knowing that just two weeks after losing my grandfather, I would lose my cousin, Chaude, in a house fire. I found myself trying to navigate through this pain and find some sort of purpose in mine and my family's suffering. This episode explores the experience of loss through my lens. This episode is dedicated to my cousin, Chaude' Reed, who passed away suddenly, last month. It is a letter that I wrote to her. Chaude' was my first friend and one of my favorite people in the world. She was a warm light in a dark and cold world. I miss her terribly. I wanted to do an episode that was dedicated to her and her memory. As the first two grandchildren, we shared a unique connection and experience in our early years of life. I cherish each of those memories now. Life is a precious occurrence.
