This image wasn’t captured in Nairobi after Shujaaz Memorial Concert at Uhuru
Park on 7 July 2024

 

The

image is from Mumbai, India.

 

This Facebook post with an image claiming to show the situation in Nairobi

town on 7 July 2024 after the Shujaaz Memorial Concert is FALSE.

 

The image shows a multitude of

people gathered in what appears to be a street at night.


“Scenes in Nairobi CBD in the evening after The Shujaaz Memorial Concert at
Uhuru Park. Saba Saba,” reads the post.

 


 

The post was published as a section

of Kenyans gathered at Uhuru Park for a  memorial concert  honouring those who
lost their lives during anti-finance bill protests in June
2024.

 

To confirm the photo’s authenticity,

Ghetto Radio performed a reverse search on Google Lens and found this and this article reporting the image was
captured in Mumbai, India.

 

According to The Siasat Daily,

the image shows a victory parade for India’s cricket team held on 4 July 2024,
at Marine Drive in Mumbai after the team emerged victorious at the T20 World Cup.

 


 

The publication credited the image

to a photographer going by the username ‘@ompsyram’ on X (formerly Twitter).

 

The photographer published the image

on 4 July 2024 and confirmed that it was captured in Mumbai.

 

A Google search

using the keywords Marine Drive and India team led us to several articles such
as this and this confirming that there was a massive
crowd that gathered in the area to receive the cricket team.

 

Ghetto

Radio looked into a Facebook post with an
image claiming to show the situation in Nairobi town on 7 July 2024 after the
Shujaaz Memorial Concert and found it to be FALSE.
