Party Favorz began down the path of the Utimate 90's House Classics on October 10, 2020. One year later, we've finally reached the end of this historical series and what a journey it's been.
Volume 6 wraps up the remaining massive progressive club hits with a few leftover Classic House tracks from that period. There's virtually nothing in this final set you won't recognize (even if you don't remember the title). The one exception is the Hex Hector remix of Tina Turner's "When the Heartache Is Over," which was widely rumored at the time but never materialized (at least not to the best of my knowledge). The preferred remix at the time was the Metro Mix. The Hex Hector remix never came across my radar until I started working on the Tina Turner Diva Hall of Fame series earlier this year.
It appears that remix may have only been serviced to DJs and being form smalltown America where I drove to San Antonio 4 hours to the north every other month to pick up the latest releases, my only other option was DJ008 website. If anyone remembers that site, it was the precursor to Napster, WinMX and other file sharing services as well as another famous dance music file sharing website who's name escapes me at the moment.
Granted, we were on dial-up and downloads could take hours for a single song so you had to be selective and certain about what you wanted or you end wasting countless hours tying up your phone line on just one track. Hence, the trek to San Antonio for the latest club tunes made sense. Besides, I'd make a weekend of it and party at the Bonham Exchange.
To make a long story short, I included that elusive version here (though it's not his best work) for those that might be interested. Otherwise, everything included in this series stays true to the time period of the classic song's release.
I've already created the artwork, compiled the tracks for the annual Fall Edition and started the mixing process and I'm stoked to be working on current remixes. It will definitely be finished later today giving me enough time to preview it with the exception of two promos not set to drop until next Friday. I have alternate remixes for the tracks if these don't come through on time. Otherwise, I'm set. Expect that set to drop next Saturday. Until then...ENJOY!

As we head into the final stretch of the Ultimate 90's House Classics series from 1998 - 1999 — part 5 delivers those odds and ends party house classics that go outside the progressive house that had become mainstream during this period of musical evolution.
Songs like "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust, which spawned several mashups including the eponymous "Holiday" mashup by Madonna who has used this version live in concerts, "Get Get Down" by Paul Johnson, "Bodyrock" by Moby, "9PM (Til I Come)" by ATB, which is the basis for this year's massive "Your Love (9PM)" by Topic & A7S, "Red Alert" by Basment Jaxx, "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay, which has been used as the basis for multiple mashups as of late, "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" by Eiffel 65 (I'm in need of a guy), "It's Like That" by Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins, which launched Nevin's space into the hard-hitting rock influenced remixes he was later known for, "King Of My Castle" by Wamdue Project and the bouncy Eurodance hit "2 Times" by Ann Lee amongst so many other memorable moments from this period.
How Party Favorz managed to make these diverse offerings work in one seemless set is so mysterious that even I don't know how I did it but it works in spades. One spin and you'll be reliving one of the most magical moments in dance music history with just the one set alone.
The final set will wrap up predominantly massive progressive house tracks and you can expect to drop on Saturday. Until then...ENJOY!

I don't have any special commentary on this particular set other than it's an extension of everything already released. There are a lot of golden nuggets included here and volume 4 speaks for itself.
I'll be putting the finishing touches on volume 5 today and will then start on volume 6. The final two volumes of this series will drop later this coming week. The annual Fall Edition will drop the following week (as there is a ton of promos clogging up my inbox at the moment) and our normal schdedule for the latest releases will resume.
I know y'all have been eagerly anticipating new music and they will be heading your way shortly. Until then...ENJOY!

Party Favorz is back with volume three of the Ultimate 90's House Classics [1998 - 1999] and this set dives deep into progressive territory.
We kick the party off with one of our all-time favorties 'Lately' by Divine with Joanathan Peters performing remix duties. With it's ubeat synths and fantstic harmonies — 'Lately' packed floor every time it dropped.
Of course all the club favorites from this era are here like Faith Hill's 'Breathe' and the sweeping Hex Hector accompanying remix, 'Sexual' by Amber (a Thunderpuss instant classic), 'I Will Go With You' by Donna Summer that was packaged with the some of the biggest name DJs from that period, 'Someone To Hold' by Veronica showcasing Johnny Vicious' versatility who would go on to be an in demand DJ in the early millennium, Whitney Houston's defiant 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay' (another Thunderpuss instant classic that takes the R&B original and jacks it up by a factor of 100 while blowing a hole in the roof with Whitney's powerful vocals - thank you Clive) and the massive 'You're Still the One' by Shania Twain courtesy of Soul Solution.
Some of you may be looking at this track list and scratching your heads over the inclusion of 'Ojos Asi' by Shakira. I grew up in South Texas and the Columbian born singer was already a massive star through Central America, Mexico and various pockets of the United States with large Latino populations. The song has a strong middle eastern sound and was not like anything else on her fourth album the critically acclaimed and multi-platnium 'Dónde Están los Ladrones? It was tacked on to what was otherwise a more rock and acoustic album that elicited comparisons to Alanis Morissette. Once the video dropped for 'Ojos Asi' all bets were off. The song blew up and Shakria had arrived.
Under the tutelage of Emilio Estefan (husban of Gloria Estefan), Shakira was primed to cross over into the American market and it would be two years before she dropped her first English language album 'Laundry Service' in the states.
The remix for 'Ojos Asi' is often credited to Thunderpuss but was actually Pablo Flores who was also producer on her album. The song was an instant floorfiller upon its release in 1999 and frankly, fits in nicely with the tracks that surround it.
Before there was Todrick Hall or Lil Nas X — there was Kevin Aviance. 'Rhythm Is My Bitch' was his second of three #1 dance club hits, which followed his 80's remake 'Din Da Da' and was proceeded by 'Alive' in 2002 with two other top 5 releases 'Give It Up' and 'Strut.' He had a cameo in Madonna's 'Secret' video and has worked with Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston. He was also a member of the vogue-ball house 'House of Aviance' and was a gender bending leader who paved the path for others. Check out the video below:

I've still got two possibly three more sets to go in this series. I'm setting a goal of getting them all out this next week without sacraficing tracks or quality. It gets harder once you start getting to the bottom but I'm convinced I can work it out. Until the next time...ENJOY!

After a multitude of successful girl groups throughout the nineties — it was time for the boys to give it a go. While TLC was on the tailend of their fame with their explosive release 'FanMail' — the girls were in disaray with constant infighting which ultimately caused them to collapse. Enter stage left, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and 98°.
Even though most dance music wasn't being aired at radio (with a few notable exeptions i.e. Cher), the major labels were adept at crosspromoting their artists from radio to the dancefloor. This is where Hex Hector, Davidson Ospina, Soul Solution, Thunderpuss, Pablo Flores and Jonathan Peters come in. These DJs were already having great success in the clubs and easily took their winning formula and applied it to pop hits.
Because this period is such a magical time for me, this final series covers a lot of ground from these two years and may even be a tad indulgent. Nevertheless, there was no stone left unturned in creating this final farewell to the nineties.
It wasn't my intent to drag this on but unfortunately, there have been a series of diversions this past week that have kept me from knocking this series out. I'm only now getting back into the groove of things so all I ask is for a little patience. Once this series is finished, Party Favorz will be launching back into our regular scheduled releases in October. The Legacy release I had planned will be pushed into November.
I should have at least one more release for the weekend followed by the rest next week. Until the next time...ENJOY!

Party Favorz started the Ultimate 90's House Classic series in the fall of 2020. The overwhelming response to this series has been tremendous — certainly bigger than I thought it would be.
A year later, we're now reaching the end of the decade and have pulled out all the stops for what is certainly considered the golden age of House Music.
As we noted in earlier editions, the musical landscape began changing in the second half of the decade. After bubbling in the underground for several years before moving into the mainstream, Trance music took on a life of its own. While those tracks are not featured in this series (they'll get their own ultimate classics series soon enough) — Progressive House was the alternate powerhouse genre in the movement fueled by Hex Hector, Victor Calderone, Thunderpuss, Jonathan Peters, Peter Rauhofer (a.k.a. Club 69), Danny Tenaglia, Rosabel, Razor N Guido, Pablo Flores, Junior Vasquez and Johnny Vicioius who blurred the lines between Progressive House and Trance.
Probably one of the biggest unsung heroes from this time period is Soul Solution who consisted of Bobby Guy and Ernie Lake. These guys were the go to for many commercial remixes and there's a story there that I can't seem to dig up so I'll just go by what I remember. Don't hold this as gospel because I'm only going by what I remembered. Maybe someone else can shed more light on this story.
Soul Solution was their brand but if I remember correctly, the trademark was owned by a major label. When they attempted to leave the label, they weren't allowed to take the name with them. Since their brand was built under this name, it was near impossible to market themselves independently. Though, Ralphi Rosario from Rosabel managed to break out on his own as did Chris Cox from Thunderpuss and Guido Osorio from Razor N Guido but Bobby Guy and Ernie Lake were not household names. It's likely why Hex Hector (who had worked with the guys on the breakthrough remix of Toni Braxton's "Un-break My Heart" in 1996) picked up the slack in the coming years even though he was already in high demand.
You'll likely remember a lot of their remixes but less so who remixed them. Party Favorz is here to set the record straight as much of their work will be featured over the next several sets.
The major change in club music was no accident but something that was in the making for the better half of the decade and is fondly remembered by club kids (including myself) with 1999 through maybe 2001 being the best the genre servered up. As musical tastes changed, Progressive House eventually gave way to Electro House — another genre that came up through the underground.
From some of the more obscure tracks, the biggest club hits including that whole short-lived Ibiza sound — TU90HC has got you covered. I had a lot of fun creating this first set and was taken back by Monifah's "Touch Me," which I had completely forgotten about. There will be a lot of these gems over these remaining sets that are gonna jog your memory and put a smile on your face.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

It's always a sigh of relief when I finish one of these epic anthologies and I'm happy with the final product. Volume four of the Ultimate 90's House Classics showcases the splintering of the genre and how more progressive versions of House Music were suddenly taking over dance floors.
Club 69 (a.k.a. Peter Rauhofer) who was generally a sexy house music production geared toward gay audiences, changed musical directions quite rapidly. Eventually, the productions became more progressive and frenetic, which would drive peak hour crowds into a tizzy. Club 69 hit it big with remixes for Funky Green Dogs "Fired Up" and Kevin Aviance "Din Da Da" amongst many others during this period.
At the same time, Tony Moran, Junior Vasquez, Victor Calderone, Ralphi Rosario and Hex Hector were beefing up their sound while making it more palatable to a mainstream audience giving the genre and even further reach. This is not to say the House Music in its purest form wasn't still king as evidenced by the multitude of #1 club songs included in this final set. But, this new sound was embarking on something much bigger that would eventually takeover not only the charts but dance floors in the coming years.
Everyone found their place or shall I say true calling as a DJ and no longer were these guys just a DJ, two turntables and a microphone (thank you Beck). They were stars in their own right that could pack a venue. Perhaps the biggest contributor to their stardom was none other than Clive Davis of Arista records. He saw not just in terms of financial but the need to expand his diva roster's reach into the world of dance and by extension their popularity. After all, where would Deborah Cox be today if it weren't for him pushing her in both angles of R&B and Dance extending her visibility across boundaries.
While Party Favorz enjoys all the various genres and tribute sets I put out from Trash Disco, 80's Dance, Eurodance and Trance — I have the most affinity with House Music and its various iterations. The Ultimate 90's House Classics series is dear to my heart. While this series is far from the last word on House Music (as there's just way too much to be included even if the artists and songs deserve it) — it's likely the closest you'll ever find in a comprehensive history of the genre.
We still have two more years to go with 1998 - 1999, which are bound to bring back some fond memories for many of you. I'm not certain as to when I'll be dropping those but likely sometime in the summer or no later than early fall. I still have the Ultimate Trance series I've been teasing that I want to get out by the end of the year as well. Until then...ENJOY!

For those of you unable to appreciate the very music that spawned what you listen to today — songs that are in fact reworked for today's dancefloor, by DJs that have perfected their artistry and are still churning out hit dance songs as I type this — bare with me while I indulge the folks who lived it and know exactly where this music stems from.
We've got one more volume to complete this series before launching into the latest Dance Club, Circuit and Anthems, Disco House and Peak Hour — all guaranteed to drop between now and Memorial Day. After, we have Gay Pride month and I've got a lot in store for June, which will be capped off with our annual Catch-up series featuring the biggest Dance Club tracks of 2021 so far.
Party Favorz isn't just about what's going on in the world of dance music today but remembering our roots. I've been wholly vested in musical history since I was a kid so each and every release on this platform has special significance for me and for the countless followers of this podcast. Anyone that's followed Party Favorz for a long time knows that I get to everything in my own time and space so as not to oversaturate any single area. Our focus is on the evolution of House music from the past to the present. Stick around and you may learn something.
In the interim — I busted my ass getting volume three of the Ultimate 90's House Classics [1996- 1997] out in a timely manner. The music contained within this set is historical and deserves the time, space and attention afforded to it.
I'll be back next week with the final installment and something new to get y'all geared up for summer. Until then...ENJOY!

Earlier in the decade, Freestyle, Breakbeat, Trip Hop, Hip Hop and Eurodance were all offshoots of House music that went on to be fused together or evolved into their own distinct categories.
More notably, the second half of the nineties witnessed a sea change in House music. While Classic House continued to be a staple on dance floors — the sound became more progressive, electronic and tribal as club culture began looking for something fresh and new. Enter Club 69 (Peter Rauhofer), Thunderpuss, Victor Calderone, Tony Moran, Hex Hector, Jonathan Peters, Soul Solution, Rosabel (Ralphi Rosario), Razor N' Guido, Vission & Lorimer and a host of others. The one consistent in this area was Junior Vasquez who easily switched between edgy commercial House and the big tribal beats that would eventually claim the dance floor.
In fact, it took the Soul Hex remix (Soul Solution + Hex Hector) of Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" for the labels to take notice after it exploded all over the dance floor. For the sake of this series — the excellent Frankie Knuckles version was included on volume one of this series.
That being said, this new style of music steadily became more dominant that it begins to take over this four volume series and explodes by 1998 - 1999.
Other notable mentions in this period are Full Intention, StoneBridge and Love To Infinity who developed a tougher house sound that was commercially appealing and Armand Van Helden with his signature garage house style that sometimes veered into other worlds.
The other offshoot that exploded was Trance. Trance had been bubbling in the underground with rave parties that were popular in the UK in the early nineties and eventually found their way over to the US. That's an entirely separate category and will be prominently featured in its own tribute later this year. Just know that many of the big names in Trance started out as house DJs. Rollo & Sister Bliss, Perfecto, Sash! and BT were all making house music prior to jumping over to this genre where they found massive success.
After finishing volume two — I've decided to re-visit some of the earlier Legacy entries like Frankie Knuckles, Peter Rauhofer, Thunderpuss and Hex Hector. The original sets feel incomplete and can certainly be improved upon. I'd also like to incorporate more Club 69 remixes into Peter's tribute set since the moniker was key to his overall success. Those are being considered for a much future date as I got a lot on my plate at the moment.
In the interim, soak in this heavenly slice of House music history and be sure to turn it the fuck UP! I should have volume three out on Saturday or Sunday and the final fourth volume for this period sometime next week. Until then...ENJOY!

Folks, I apologize for being M.I.A. for the past couple of weeks. It's been one nightmare piled on top of another. When I finally had some breathing room to sit down and start working on the next Ultimate 90's House Classics from 1996 to 1997 — I was knee-deep in the first mix before I realized a lot of songs were missing.
I had taken a week off late last year to compile all the tracks and placed them in separate folders by year thinking I would be strategic and getting ahead of the game. I only now realized that I either overlooked several must have songs or they disappeared. I'm now questioning every set I've put out so far but it's too late to go back.
I had the perfect mix finished when I came to this realization and have been diligently tracking down everything I missed. I got up early this morning to rework this set and am now finished. Better late than never.
My mind is fried so I'll be talking about the changes in the musical landscape during this period on the next drop. There will be two to three more of these coming this week so stay tuned.
Until then...ENJOY!
Fixed minor issue with the transition from Happy Clappers "I Believe" to "So In Love With You" by Duke.
