誰にでも 心変わり( change our mind)はよくあることですが、時には心境の変化( have a change of heart)もあります。A change of heart と to change one’s mind、これら２つのイディオムの意味と使い方を確認しましょう。

 

Change one’s mind の意味

ここでの change は動詞です。one’s mind は決定したことや意見や考えが変わるという意味で、道理にかなってたり、熟考した末の気持ちの変化というようなニュアンスがあります。

A change of heart の意味

ここでの change は名詞です。 have a change of heart は自分の信念/確信が変わるという意味で、道理/合理というよりも感情的な気持ちの変化を表します。意見や感情の変化、それまでとは反対の考え方に変わるなど、感情の様子が変化したことを表す表現です。
