S2, Ep. 5 50 State Finish Lines: Six03 Endurance...Not One Sport, Every Sport. Listen as Tom H. shares how he built this popular organization, one athlete at a time.
Today, Six03 Endurance hosts six impressive trail and mountain competitions, often welcoming the planet's most elite endurance athletes. Yet, Six03 Endurance remains true to its early roots as an inclusive, social, and down to earth organization.  In addition to their signature trail and mountain events, on Tuesday evenings throughout the region, Six03 welcomes runners of all paces to join for weekly pub runs. And their red, white and black Six03 apparel is visible at every area race! Even if you are not a trail runner, I hope you will join us for an inspiring listen of how a decade or so ago, Tom jumped in on a relay team, experiencing firsthand the rewards of a social yet competitive event. From there, Tom gradually built a community of likeminded athletes, folks who wanted a bit more social aspects to their running experiences, such as lingering a bit after a race to enjoy postrace festivities. Tom and his thriving endurance sports management organization speaks to his determination--as an athlete and as a business leader.  Through our lively conversation, Tom describes Six03's main events as well as he offers insights about his own favorites--shoes, tech gear, and motivation--as an endurance athlete.        I hope you enjoy this episode. S.2. Ep. 4 50 State Finish Lines: Running the Boston marathon, TWICE, in less than 12 months! Maggie, a young professional, shares her inspiring journey!
Some runners come to the marathon distance after years of running shorter races. Not Maggie. Growing up playing sports, Maggie took up running half marathons and full marathons when she began her professional work life in Boston. Join us for an engaging and inspiring listen as Maggie helps us understand how she plans and organizes her training around the demands of work. And though she lives in a city, Maggie welcomes running outside (no treadmills for this runner!) reminding us of the healing aspects of nature.  Maggie also takes us along the Boston Marathon route, explaining how she trained for the hills, including Newton's heartbreak hill. And she offers a personal compare & contrast analysis between the fall 2021 race and her Boston marathon experience this past April. Lastly, Maggie reminds us that we can do hard things, particularly when we train for them. Our conversation reinforces runners should not be intimidated by the miles of a marathon.  Instead, focus on chipping away at the goal. Such a fun, engaging and helpful conversation-I hope you enjoy it! S2, Ep. 3 50 State Finish Lines: The Mile Challenge. What would it look like to run one mile every day for a year. Or two years? Join me as I speak with two terrific runners going strong!
Gabriel and Paul have been running at least one mile a day for over two years. Sounds easy? Not so fast. The commitment and discipline to do so every day is surprisingly challenging in today's busy world. Yet, that has not stopped my two guests who have been at it for more than 730 days. And they are not the only ones still keeping up with the initial challenge so something is working! The first O2X Mile Challenge started with more than 300 participants, ages from 12-70+, running at all times of the day. Gabriel explains how runners often plan their day around their mile.  Join us for a fun conversation as they share the rules of the road--yes, the mile must be run OUTSIDE--no treadmills allowed! And they offer insights about how the act of running a mile every day develops a disciplined mindset or resiliency that can applied to other aspects of life.  Lastly, my guests remind us that it is never too late to start. And it is fun to have a goal for every day. I hope you will join us for an entertaining and inspiring listen. If you like this podcast, please share it with friends!
