3rd Side Convo

WJHM102Jamz
Over a decade ago, while guest lecturing on financial success at a nearby college, Bob conceived the idea of Uberdiscourse. He realized that meaningful political discussions could happen if politicians were excluded from the conversation. This led to The 3rd Side Convo, where they use the Uberdiscourse style, never mentioning politicians or their actions, making their discussions uniquely focused on ideas. Bob shared this concept with a friend who had a studio, and they recorded their first session the next day. They have been collaborating for the past five years.
3SC The Other side is NUTS
In this episode, Bob Phipps moderates a fast, messy, human debate where both sides call the other “crazy” and we try to separate heat from light. Bathrooms to January 6, censorship to conspiracies, rainbow crosswalks to welfare and “weaponization” of agencies—nothing stays tidy for long. Participating panel: Don Thomas, Stacia Boyd, Zach Cooker, Jeff Barrett  Host: Bob Phipps Jump in and steer the convo  • What’s one “the other side is nuts” belief you’re willing to re-examine?  • Should nonviolent Jan 6 attendees have been treated differently from violent offenders?  • Public art in crosswalks: harmless expression or misuse of civic space?  • Which helps more: expanding welfare or expanding opportunity? Why?  • Is “weaponization” actually new or just more visible? Support the conversation  Subscribe on YouTube and tap the bell  Rate us on Spotify or Apple Podcasts  Join the community at thirdsideconvo.com

3SC Big Beautiful WHAT
Is the “Big Beautiful Bill” genuine welfare reform or just another way to cut off millions who need help the most? In this heated Third Side Convo, the panel tackles one of the most controversial political battles of 2025: the future of Medicaid, CHIP, and SNAP benefits. What you’ll hear in this episode:•    The $1.02 Trillion Question: Are GOP-led cuts really targeting waste, or are they hurting kids, the elderly, and people with disabilities?•    The Work Requirement Debate: Does asking people to work or volunteer 80 hours a month empower them or just push them out of the system?•    Integrity vs. Abuse: Are government bureaucracies helping or trapping people in dependence?•    The Human Cost: What happens to rural hospitals, disabled Americans, and families already on the edge?•    The Real Question – Do we ALL want to help people? The panel tries to find common ground before the show wraps.Key moments include:•    Heated exchanges over Bible verses and whether they’re being used out of context to justify cutting benefits•    Stacia’s personal story of how the ACA helped her family, then priced them out•    Johnny’s call for “teaching responsibility” and his argument that real love means work, not handouts•    Jeff’s frustration over “solving problems that don’t exist”•    Bill’s explanation of state “money laundering” and how the bill closes loopholesThis is one of the most intense conversations yet—and we even end with a surprising agreement that, yes, most of us really do want to help people. But the how remains a fight. What do you think?•    Are the cuts necessary to stop abuse, or are they punishing people who truly need help?•    Should work requirements be stricter—or more flexible?•    Is this welfare reform fair, or just politics as usual?Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know where YOU stand.
