IPT reporter Bruce Mason speaks with College of Idaho men's basketball coach Scott Garson on the eve of the NAIA Div. II national tournament ... but not about basketball? Garson, a lefty, is looking to get back on the mound to help the Yotes baseball team at practices this spring. Also, Bradley and John recap the state high school wrestling and boys basketball tournaments.

The Canyon County (or 2C) Sports 'N Stuff podcast tackles themes of returning to one's pursuits after suffering hardships. This week, we talk with Middleton basketball players J.D. Lyle and Pierce Scott. Both young men wrestled with their return to sports after Lyle broke his shooting arm twice and Scott lost his mother and sister in a house fire last year.

This week, we chat a little about state wrestling and wrap up the state girls basketball tournament. Joining us is Skyview High girls hoops coach Cindy Pasta. She talks about the early days of Skyview High, her current team and how they performed at last week's state tournament, where the Hawks placed second.

It's the very first episode of Canyon County Sports 'N Stuff, a new podcast from Idaho Press-Tribune. Reporter Bradley Guire and editor John Wustrow will have a new guest each week to discuss sports and stuff from the west Treasure Valley area. Episode 1 features Idaho High School Activities Association executive director Ty Jones. He discusses student-athlete eligibility, concussions and a number of other topics. In fact, the interview had so much information, we split it into two parts. Episode 2 will upload on Thursday, Jan. 22, and feature the second half of the Ty Jones interview.
