Trump’s Unpopularity Catching Up
I normally love this podcast, but I turned off this episode because Jason Zengerle’s characterization of Trump’s rallies was ridiculous. He’s not a doddering elder entitled to fun hobbies, he’s the POTUS holding taxpayer-funded, lie-filled hate fests. Trump uses the dumbest and meanest tactics to validate people’s worst instincts and persecute the vulnerable. Why would this journalist not just tell it like it is? Your readers want intelligence and authenticity, not whatever this episode was.

Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad
Jane Mayer and Evan Osnos are spectacular on this pod, but Susan Glasser needs some media training. She doesn’t know how to ask a simple question without meandering and backtracking and editorializing forever. Rahm Emanuel called her out recently for asking seven questions all at once. She doesn’t this constantly. Her lack of journalistic discipline is the only weak link on an otherwise fantastic show.

You mention billy carter & hunter biden, ok, compare those 2 with donnie jr, eric, ivanka & melania’s corruption as it would be peanuts to out of control corruption. in fact, I want to see from a reporter a list of corruption of republicans & dems in comparative format so we can see easily which party is the more corrupt. please do this and post/print it. The people need to know.

I love the Washington Roundtable
These three are great together. They’re all so smart and articulate. They do it with a bit of occasional humor and with less profanity than I use myself when talking about current events.

last straw i guess
instead of just reporting pivotal votes cast and confirming or disproving elements of propublica—you repeat collins’ characterization of her career?

Emma Green is awful
Please don’t have her on the show again Apologist drivel!! Susan Collins IS the reason we are in this death spiral On our way to a 2nd world country and economy

There was a hard truth
That was ignored with Kaepernick. Pro sports is the closest thing we to have a meritocracy. If he was good enough, he could have gotten away with anything. Ask Deshaun Watson, sexual predator and current NFL QB

Abdul El-Sayed
Was surprised to hear Amy Walter characterise Dr. El-Sayed as a weak candidate. She’s often better than that.

The Round Table Rocks!
Love, Love, Love “The Round Table.” I so appreciate all three of you who are so incredibly smart and insightful. I have devoured the many books and numerous articles you have written. You must know that I go into serious withdrawal when you are off the air! Keep up this wonderfully worthwhile while podcast.

Washington Roundtable-Why is Donald Trump Picking a Fight with Canada
I’m a long time listener and New Yorker subscriber and I was shocked to hear profanity from Susan Glasser in this episode. I listen to the Political Scene for intelligent, articulate and informed commentary. Please, please Ms. Glasser elevate the conversation.

Gina Raimondo on Reclaiming the American Dream in the Age of A.
Republican Capitalist Pablum presented by a bought and paid for AI corporate Democrat aka a Diet Republican. Very disappointed Mr. Osnos you provided -0- pushnback to the lollipops and rainbows Ms. Raimondo was spouting. Shame on the New Yorker.

Host David Remnick is wasting your time
The quality of these episodes really varies by host. Remnick is a performative interviewer who wastes his guest time with uninspired questions and a general disrespect for their intellect and position. This podcast feels like NYer aping Fox News style discourse.

So informative
Smart, informative and well-paced. I look forward to listening!

Editing: terrible
Just listened to Aug 7 episode Jane Mayer & Andrew Weissman. Excellent Interview. Terrible, horrible, editing. The abrupt ending was jarring, but the repetitions of what was previously said awful. This happening a lot in podcasts…what the heck: if AI tools involved, stop using it. It’s not ready yet.

Washington Roundtable - Whistling in the dark
I only listen to the Friday Weekly Roundtable. Their hosts are respected, plugged-in journalists who know their stuff. And I mostly agree with their progressive viewpoints. Almost every episode, however, I have a problem with the tone: chuckling and mocking the latest antics of Trump and MAGA. The hosts and guests might call it nervous, not happy chuckling. You may, like me, experience cognitive dissonance: Is it the demise of the republic imminent, or is it all just political wise-cracking, axe-grinding and scoring ratings and points against the “other side”? Trying to be both entertaining (but subversive) like Colbert, as well as informative like The Atlantic, is a difficult balancing act. Like adding a spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down, getting the mix wrong can be a cloying experience.

Doge ballsup /shutdown
More importantly, if the money is being restored, where is it going? The point is to overall inefficiency - instead usaid was shutdown. All these people are dying. Even people in usaid said it needed some reworking. Now if the money is back again is it helping more or less people? It is infuriating

Excellent podcast
I listen to several political podcasts each week. While topics of discussion overlap between those podcasts, I appreciate the analysis each member of the round table provides. I have been listening for several years and plan to continue!

A key ‘go to’ for smart political analysis for me
It’s at the top of my short list of podcasts. I’m also a longtime NYer subscriber so I read the magazine as well

Smart but predictable
How are they so behind on so many key issues? Mental health experts have been talking about DT’s declining mental health for well over decade—and they’re just now concerned?! We’ll never get out of this mess if we count on The New Yorker. They don’t understand the urgency of the moment we’re in.

Excellent, but…
…I’d appreciate being able to hear Evan and Jane finish their thoughts and comments without interruption. Otherwise, one of my favorite pods.

These people are smart but oh so smug
Please stop slapping each other on the back, plugging each others books and chuckling smugly. Just report the news and give your opinions, which are smart and appreciated, but are unfortunately diminished by the condescending antics. Fed up with libs acting the same as reactionary conservatives, just with opposite opinions.

Donald Trump’s Imperial Birthday
I was rather shocked by the ageist remarks made throughout the episode (‘2nd childhood’!). You are at least 30 years behind the current and much more complex view of aging, personality, and decline. This reminds me of the 1970’s when women insisted on a different way of narrating girls’ and women’s experience, pointing out the subtleties and blatant sexism that was right in from t of our eyes. The same applies here: As Dr. Alex Comfort said in the ’70’s - you may not become a man or women, black, white, or otherwise, but if you live long enough you will be discriminated against, re-positioned as not longer mattering because of age. Just wait. Robert Reichlin, Ph.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

Overall, quite predictable
It’s fine, but I feel like I’ve listened to it before I’ve even listened to it. I am pretty well able to predict what the analysts will say. Fairly standard liberal establishment stuff here. Again, fine, but don’t expect to be surprised, challenged, or even much entertained.

Those billionaires
You suggest that billionaires will one day feel shame again and be forced to rein in their inherent corruption. It appears to me, in this class, shame is gone—if it ever existed. As you note, the robber barons used PR to justify their wealth. Today, perhaps, the modern equivalent of Gekko’s ‘Greed is good’ is Shame is irrelevant.

Incredible information and a mostly great listen
Top notch information, so much to learn and think about with every episode. If Susan Glasser could notice the effect the anxiety and urgency in her voice causes for listeners and regulate that, then what she is actually saying would be much more digestible and effective and would allow all of the hosts to land more powerfully. I suppose it’s easy to think “well the moment is urgent, so it’s appropriate”, but the issue isn’t whether it’s an appropriate feeling or not, the issue is that it takes away from the power of her words and interferes with the communication being attempted. To me it’s less about having “positive” conversations on air, as she mentioned in a recent episode, but about having regulated ones so that the concepts can land and have the chance to become resonant. If that felt anxiety could stop being transmuted through the show, it would be an impeccable listen.

America’ Zebra is the White House ballroom!
On your show I heard on April 19, you asked for ideas about what symbolizes corruption in the US the way Zebras did in Hungary. My vote goes to Trump’s White House ballroom, built illegally and funded by his cronies.

Roundtable is A+
Roundtable is excellent, so smart. I will say though that sometimes Jane Mayer interrupts Susan Glasser and it makes me cringe. I see you Susan.

Thanks!!!
Thanks for the weekly with Evan Osnos and cast! Sane and coherent outlook and perspectives in a nihilistic time.

Ignorant @ Latino Catholics
Typically great and informed commentary on national politics. Episode about Vance and Catholicism totally missed that 36% of Catholic adults are Latino, and 52% of Catholics under age 30 are Latino. Latino Catholics are much more likely to vote Democratic than are white Catholics. White Catholics skew older. Please update the knowledge of the commentators. It’s meaningful.

Spamming
I do appreciate this show, particularly the DC roundtable. But it drives me nuts that I keep getting sent the same outtakes from the Radio Hour as repeats in the feed. Stop spamming us already, NYer!

Manufacturing Consent
It’s worth listening to this podcast to see how consent is manufactured among the professional-managerial class for elite impunity. The hosts and guests are masters at presenting arguments that then get regurgitated at bourgeois dinner parties which are competitions to “sound smart”. As an example, hear the Epstein episode, where the presenters explicitly aim to “lay the matter definitively to rest”. That then, rather than the pursuit of justice becomes the approved objective for the audience as well. Oh, they also claim there’s no almost evidence that Epstein was tied to intelligence agencies. Despite his links to Ehud Barak, William Barr, BCCI etc. That gives you a good sense of who the podcast manufactures consent on behalf of.

Essential listening
This podcast is a perfect companion to the exceptional publication that arrives weekly in my mailbox. I look forward to these three voices as I thumb through my podcasts. Their camaraderie is a big plus. This past week’s episode about SCOTUS with Steve Vladek (2/27/26) was an essential listen. Thankfully, a transcript exists for those of us who might need to go back over any salient points. This week was filled with them. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Insightful. Not terribly charming
These are exceptional, heavyweight reporters with great insight. I would say in terms of charm and likability, they are quite inferior to Slate’s terrific Political Gabfest co-hosts. And how about a little less self-congratulations about and flattery of their guests?

Knowledgeable journalists
I look forward to this podcast, the participating journalists bring their excellent analytic skills and their knowledge of history, and past assignments in other countries they were embedded in to understanding the cultural and political moment we are living through. Each journalist contributes uniquely, but yet they each bring something to the table to create a fuller picture of the topic they are examining I enjoy this one, but I find all of the New Yorker podcastswell done.

Washington Roundtable is a must listen
If you listen to one podcast for political insight, it should be this one. The discussion by the three hosts on the Washington Roundtable is so insightful and smart. As s Washingtonian who listens to a lot of news and political commentary podcasts, this is the gold standard.

Can Anthropic Control What It’s Building
Fascinating peak into the AI world of Anthropic and its competitors for the neophyte. One hiccup that made me pause — in the conversation Tyler mentions “The Department of War”, not with irony. A small misstep that marred her reporting. Let’s not bend the knee to this unlawful federal regime.

Trophy Wife
I was surprised that you actually thought this mockumentary would reveal anything about herself or about Donald’s relationship. This film is basically her propaganda to somehow to showcase her “brand.” “Your dog starts to look like you” is the best phrase to encapsulate her persona. She is your typical trophy wife. She has a renewed prenuptial contract with Donald. Their relationship is transactional. Donald has a penchant for immigrant wives as well as immediately getting them silicone breasts. Melania self-reported biography is just rife with lies. She is a serial liar like her husband. She is superficial like any trophy wife. Her “I don’t care” jacket, meant that she did care about the public comments. I guarantee you it took her vacuous mind weeks to create her “nuance” response with her jacket. Lauren definitely knows what’s behind Melania. It’s subterfuge because there is nothing to reveal besides narcissism. Who has the nerve to make a 2 hour film about themselves, which is a film about nothing.
