Fantastic Storytelling and Production!!
The quality of sound design/mixing that this show produces is top notch... this is obvious to anyone who gives it a listen. What is less obvious is how much time and energy must be spent on raising the show to such a level. I’ve been producing podcasts for a few years now and holy moly is it a LOT of work. I have an immense amount of respect and admiration for Sage GC and the whole cast and crew for their efforts in this regard. And that’s just the sound... the stories themselves are compelling, heart-warming, and hilariously original. It’s a brilliant idea of setting original stories in worlds that an audience has already explored and feels comfortable in. Brilliant! Bravo to all! Excited to hear more and try out your RPGs at my own table!

wow! just finished binge listening to the pokemon play thru and I loved so much of it!! amazing actors and voices with the perfect combination of jokes and plot. the biggest shout out goes to the music and podcast editing! the show is insanely fun to listen to with pokemon/techno/edm edits that are straight up bangers (often had to re-listen to the dialogue because i was jamming too hard😂) plus! the battling audio is spot on and feels just like the anime! had such a blast listening and wouldn’t be mad at a return to the world 👀👀 excited to listen to the rest of their catalog!

This show is a riot, and everyone works so well off of each other. Definitely give 20 Sided Stories a listen if you're looking for a new actual-play podcast.

A++ in every regard
I could talk about how great 20SS is for far too long, so I’ll just leave you with some highlights: 1) It’s an improvised comedy. And the whole team is really good at improv, so it’s hilarious. Like, bursting-out-laughing-several-times-an-episode funny. 2) It’s emotional. Just because it’s funny doesn’t mean it’s never serious. There’s drama and suspense and character struggles and plot twists and tears (on my end at least). Pokémon and Marvel both had me sobbing during the finale. 3) The sound design is incredible. Like, leagues beyond any other rpg podcast I’ve heard. But it never feels overdone or too cheesy. It really makes the story feel immersive. 4) The original music. I particularly adore the Pokémon soundtrack and that last song from Marvel. 5) They mix it up. Each season means a new fun theme, new story, new well-developed characters and a new style of gameplay. And I do mean new, seeing as they create their own systems. 6) The whole team. Idk, they just all seem really great and have good chemistry. tl;dr Impressive enough for me to take the time to write a review. Probably my favorite podcast. Give it a listen. (And consider supporting them on Patreon for even more content.)

The most overlooked and underrated podcast ever
I've been listening to a good number of live play tabletop RPG podcasts by now, and this one is far and away one of the absolute very best. They waste none of their time or yours in making sure that their sound quality is impeccable, there's quick and concise narration, fitting music and sound effects, the performers are all charismatic, funny, and have great chemistry (without derailing into side conversations too much or too often, if even at all), and the writing is exquisite. I truly believe that it can only be so heinously overlooked at this time because they are still a somewhat new podcast and only have so much material, but oh, what wonderous material it is. Their recently completed Marvel Cinematic Universe-based campaign may be my favorite of their works, but the original content campaigns they have available in their Patreon Adventure Pass are well worth it at the extremely generous price of $3 a month. It truly feels like getting to hang out and laugh with friends, and experience a grand, cinematic adventure that's completely immersive just short of actually seeing it (because it's an audio medium of course.) I have deep gratitude for everyone involved in creating this wonderful podcast, especially in these trying times. Here's to wishing them a long and prosperous future, and for many more listeners to come to discover and witness their greatness.

A plethora of entertainment
As a first time listener of 20SS, I was thoroughly surprised at how amazing this creative show was. The characters in Marvel’s Survivors of The Snap, have so much depth and charisma. I found myself laughing tirelessly and getting lost in all of the stories. There was not a single episode I did not like. It’s so so fun to listen to and if you’re a Marvel fan, PLEASE give a listen. This show is a 11/10!

Epic and fun at face value. Full of heart, and thought provoking under the surface
A common saying between most, if not all, story telling platforms is that human beings are natural born storytellers. Another one is that we crave stories. I think this is why improv, when it’s good, so magical. This magic is extremely evident in their completed Pokémon season. From my perspective, you have this strong cast of improvisers who trust each other and have each other's backs, resulting in each individual performer getting out of there own way and connecting with each other and the imaginary world around them. Everyone shines! It’s sorta invisible, but I do think everyone shines because everyone is trying to make everyone else look good. A testament to a good improv team! Back on the subject of invisible, the sound design is superb! It’s mostly invisible, sometimes it’s so good that you can’t help but notice, which may sound like an oxymoron, but you’d know what I mean if you’ve experienced this paradox. While the characters are indoors, outdoors, in a cave, or at sea, it sounds great and adds great atmosphere (or immersion might be the right word). Every once in a while you’ll catch a small impressive detail in the sound and you’ll wonder how many other small impressive details you missed along the way while you were fully immersed. The music/score is balanced between grabbing your attention with it’s quality and being invisible, and it builds upon but respects the original score from the video games. Segwaying back to the magic of the improv. The magic isn’t exclusive to the performances, because upon completion you’ll realized that you just experienced an epic and satisfying story. Characters learn things and grow, and stakes get high. There is silliness and ridiculousness throughout, but when it’s over you are left with a story that is moving and provokes thought. Moments that are light and humorous land and are enjoyable, but moments that are serious and meaningful land and feel impactful. The tone of the podcast is extremely well balanced. The backbone of those moments landing being the performances of the players, that including the DM. It’s important to note that although the Pokémon season is nostalgic, nostalgia only acts as a side dish to the delicious main course that is the characters and story. It’s satisfying, thoughtful, full of laughs, full of fun, and full of heart. Now’s a good time to be a fan of the podcast too! The new marvel season had just started, with the podcast boldly brightening there horizons and telling a story that is different in tone and containing a new ensemble of improvisers (the Dm/creator of the show and the the two producers/leads from Pokémon return to play with the new ensemble). Three episodes in and the fun is being had, but a serious danger looms in the background. 20 sided stories is an amazing podcast. I genuinely LOVED bingeing the Pokémon season, and I look forward to a new episode of marvel out every two weeks. I can’t say enough good things about the podcast!

First podcast to make me cry
Found this podcast after a recommendation was dropped in the last episode of Dungeons and Daddies. I binged the entire Pokémon season in a few days and have been recommending it to my friends nonstop. I loved the characters, the sound direction, the music, and most of all the amazingly heartwarming story of three unlikely friends. Made me tear up several times until the end finally had me blubbering. Incredible podcast! Can’t wait to listen to the Marvel storyline and falling in love yet again!

Binged the whole thing
So I found this podcast two days ago off a recommendation from another podcast and holy crap, I binged it in two days and just finished the last episode. Pokémon is so nostalgic for me and I loved the music and the entire story and how it progressed! I was very emotionally invested and ended up tearing up at the end. This was amazing story telling and I can’t wait for the next one!

Wow
Ngl I found this completely by chance while looking for more dnd stuff to listen to and feel in love this so high quality and clearly has a lot of love and passion put into to it if I wasn’t a poor college student I would put as much money as I could into this series and it’s creators

Love this podcast
From beginning to end this pod cast was amazing to listen to. I hope there is a season two of Pokémon. If not the end of Pokémon season one has such a great ending. Everything it explained and tied in a nice neat little bow at the end and I love it sooo much. Thank to everyone that worked on this, my drive to and from work has been amazing.

SUCH A POWERFUL STORY!
This podcast is a prime example of what a fantastic narrative should look like in a podcast, espcially in imporv. I LOVE DND and I LOVE Pokemon! So if any of you out there love both as well, you'll fall for this podcast. The humor is great and is what draws you in, but then you get soooo invested in the characters. I love how it was both a commentary on the original game for us nostalgic fans, but aslo a unique story based of one small detail from the original. (trying not to spoil the plot). Go listen to this masterpiece

Actual Play with a focus on production
This show has quickly grown into being one of my favorite actual play podcasts. I would complain that the previous arcs have been put behind a paywall, but I get it. Each of the arcs have gotten better then the last, with Victoria 1890 improving upon Macabreverse and Pokemon improving upon that.

Wrapped it up(!) nicely
If you are looking for a by the book Pokémon podcast, this might not be what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a super fun podcast to listen to, this is the one! This podcast has an awesome, funny story, amazing sound design, great voice acting, and is an al around great time. I recommended it very strongly.

You're 10 again with your Game Boy
I'd like to first say that 1-star doesn't at all reflect the truth of this series as someone who's listened to every episode (til the finale!) This is my review of this season in a nutshell - a meticulously crafted love letter to Pokemon that effortlessly drops you into the world of Kanto in the near future, years since Red went on to win the championship. The overall effect is like what The Force Awakens is to A New Hope but in the best way possible. New characters with dynamite chemistry, a story that echoes the events in Red, Blue and Yellow but told in a captivating, unpredictable way. The battles are vibrant but not overlong, the action is packed with endless comedic moments - but the show's effect that will keep you listening is how well it transports you to this world. Also, the level of sound mixing is totally through the roof. Through many roofs. To the creators, thank you so much for this incredible labor of love.

The PKM one: Lazy. Forced. Boring.
•Very lazy and boring ‘work’ riding solely on the nostalgic wake of the original Pokémon game and show. •TERRIBLE GMing! The Game Master (GM/DM) is very lazy and forces everything upon the PCs. •As far as table top (pen and paper) RPGS go, THIS IS TRASH! * Explanations with their respective numbers below * 1) Terrible Player Characters (PCs).* 2) The PCs actions change nothing in the world.* 3) No Story, no detail at all.* 4) No intrigue. No plot. 5) NOTHING IS ORIGINAL!* 6) Lazy in every way possible.* 7) Zero visual description.* 8) No action.* 9) No adventure.* 10) They get the 2nd & 3rd badge even after loosing to the gym leader. 11) The GM forces them to make unimportant checks during unimportant times.* 12) No major character growth (but to be fair no one listens to DnD like podcasts for character growth) * Explanations *1: The main Player Characters (PCs) are annoying, always angry, terrible people, and occasionally funny. *2: The Game Master (GM or DM) forces everything to happen. He cuts off any sort of original thought of action on the part of the PCs and himself!! *5: It’s 100% a copy of the original game to ALL annoying extremes. The ‘in-world-characters’ played by the GM just repeat the same thing over and over again. They’re forced and shown around town (without description) just like the game over and over again *6: No effort was put into this in any possible way (aside from the impressive audio). *7: Zero descriptive language was used throughout the entire campaign. Aside from the bare basics of the GM telling the PCs where they are. *8: The combat scenes aren’t inclusive, they’re very short, lack description and are rare. *9: The characters are stuck on a pre made track of what’s going to happen and they can’t change anything. They attempted to squeeze a lot of the video game in about 8 very short sessions thus forcing them to pay little to no attention to everything. Catchin’ em’ all plays no part (thankfully that would be boring) and gyms are also play no major part. *11: Like walking during random unimportant parts of the story. A main player character pokes a none moving person and is forced to role a check just to touch a none moving person during an unimportant part of the story. He ends up breaking his finger... + Positives: +Good audio +Nostalgia from a the video game.
