Recap
Trauma therapist Linda Richards gives us a recap of brain development, with a trauma informed, attachment style lens.  Our ability to develop into healthy, balanced adults is dependent upon our connection with our earliest caretakers, and the scaffolding for connection is built upon that foundation. But lots of things can happen to disrupt that early attachment. Stress, other children, jobs, illnesses, etc. are common attachment "breakers" that can cause us to be anxiously, or ambivalently attached. What does that look like, and is there a repair?  Absolutely.  Let's look at how we can shift into becoming who we are meant to be.

Raising Resilience
Linda Richards brings us more insight! What can parents do to raise resilient, curious, authentic children.  You'd be surprised at how many children are protecting their parents!  Don't fall into the pattern of letting the world of activities keep you and your family disconnected!  Sometimes we try to "hide" our struggles from our children, but they know.  And if it goes on for too long, our children will turn to others for connection. That can be devastating to a child's development if they end up turning to peers for connections.  Find out why immature brains NEED mature brains to develop in a way that promotes resilience.

Taking Advantage of Our Attachment
Linda Richards brings insight and education in this episode with more on the biology of attachment and the critical role it plays as we go through life.  It affects whether we grow up with empathy and compassion, or whether we drift through life feeling anchorless. It affects the partners we chose and the way we raise our own children.  Our attachment influences every aspect of our lives including our immune functioning and whether we can live to our full authentic selves, or just a shell of what we could be.
