Snow on the Bluff
"Ni**as be thinkin' I'm deep, intelligent, fooled by my college degree My IQ is average, there's a young lady out there, she way smarter than me I scrolled through her timeline in these wild times, and I started to read"... These are the words of J Cole in response to another rapper who said that your favorite rappers have catalogs about the plight of black people, but they not out here in these streets or raising their voices. The internet went nuts after she made the statement, which prompted Cole to release that song. So what do you think? Do you believe that rappers need to be more vocal, or can they support the movement in silence? Mcdonald and I gonna chop it up about that, and what's up with cops caught on tape saying that they are going to kill ni**ers? We got a lot to talk about, and once again we look forward to your comments and feedback! Juneteenth, Kyrie Irving, and Defund the Police
There's been a lot of talk last week about whether or not black people should celebrate Juneteenth.  Some people think we should do away with it, and then there are those who think we should honor it.  Mcdonald and I speak about both sides of the issue. You gotta listen to where we land on the topic.  Also we spend time talking about Kyrie Irving and his plea for NBA players to sit out and not play in the upcoming NBA restart.  Is it a distraction, or will it be beneficial to the movement.  Last but definitely not least, a whole lot of folks have been chanting the phrase 'Defund the Police' at the various protests and marches.  Some people don't really know what that truly means. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raiseyourvoice/support

We Gotta Talk
Last week has been nuts! I mean with the aftermath of George Floyd's murder and the protests that are have been going on because of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, people are just fed up and they having it no more.   Amazingly, with the advent of social media everybody has an opinion and feels like they have the best advice for Black America.  Mcdonald and I talk about a particular video of an American white man calling out black people and telling us how we should lead.   You don't want to miss this episode.  Remember we love the feedback, if you feel compelled to give to our podcast because you are enjoying the content.  Just hit the donate button and it's done.   Thanks for listening!!! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raiseyourvoice/support

Pay Us What You Owe Us
Back at it again with that dope content. A lot is happening in this world but nothing has changed. Black people are still disproportionately cut off from access to jobs, healthcare, loans, and education. The social experiment of blacks in America is not working. Not only were blacks enslaved, but we simultaneously built this country as well. Malice from the Clipse said, "Like tryin to fly but they're clippin' your wings And that's exactly why the caged bird sings Who can nickname it, the shame rings true Seems to me reparations are overdue."  We got my dude @istackdaboss and Javonte Anyabwele speaking on this important topic --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raiseyourvoice/support

I Know I Can
The African American scholar Carter G. Woodson said “At this moment, then, the Negroes must begin to do the very thing which they have been taught that they cannot do. He also said, “Real education means to inspire people to live more abundantly, to learn to begin with life as they find it and make it better.  This week @istackdaboss and myself are glad to invite the founder of R.I.S.E Raising Imhotep Scholars of Excellence, Talitha V. Anyabwelé. We are going to talk about her path to Home School and give you practical ideas to help you take the important leap into Home School education. My Mind is Playing Tricks On Me
2 Really Dope Dudes are back! This time we want to deal with the topic of black males and mental health. The fact is that depression can manifest itself in many ways. In the African American community, mental health and therapy are taboo. As men, we are taught not to talk about our problems. Instead, we find other ways to medicate our misery. We have to deal with the stressors that racism presents to us daily. Data has shown that suicide is the third leading cause of death among African Americans ages 15 to 24. African American men are four times more likely to die by suicide than African American women are. Less than half of all Americans with a mental disorder get the treatment that they need. But the proportion of African Americans who need mental health treatment and get it is only half that of Whites. Houston we have a problem? Join my brothers and me as we talk about this critical topic. McDonald Jean and myself are glad to welcome Mathew Jean to help us talk about it. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raiseyourvoice/support

How High?!?
The hypocrisy of it all! According to Complex.com "Even though the cannabis industry is inching toward an explosive economic boon where even former detractors (John Boehner) are becoming huge investors, the real travesty in all of this future Fortune 500 talk are those still locked down for marijuana-related charges. The US Dept of Health currently holds the patent on medical use of cannabinoids, while simultaneously locking up black and brown bodies up for it."   The CBD business is a fast growing industry where white people are reaping the benefits while those that were once locked away for peddling such drugs are now locked out of the industry. In 2019, the industry raked in $12.2 B and is projected to pull in more than $31 B in 2020.   In this episode of 2 Really Dope Dudes we talk to Noami Granger an accountant in the industry. She will be answering many of your questions that you have related to the business as well as the racial disparities. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raiseyourvoice/support
