Back in action
I work in energy/ utilities sector and despite the multitude of talking heads in this space, I don’t trust anybody except for the original energy gang and now the open circuit.

very meaty
This panel gives context and depth into the why and the how of specific energy transitions, from the technologies and costs of generation through transmission and distribution and navigating the juggernaut of regulations at the state, federal and private market levels. If you're interested in understanding things on a non-superficial level, this is your podcast.

Love this podcast
This is an easy to listen podcast, that goes DEEP! It’s dealing with the real issues in the energy transition. But it’s usually very fair, balanced, evidence based and then BOOM! Every once in a while a super angry rant from Jigar Shah! And I live for that.

Katherine will be missed
As a woman in the energy space I always looked forward to listening Katherine’s take on current events. She was a big draw for me to this podcast and will be deeply missed. I hope her replacement fills her shoes and brings a new perspective that rivals her positivity and insight. In the meantime best of luck to Katherine on her retirement.

Just the right mix
I just rediscovered you guys were back together (too bad for us that Katherine is leaving). From reading Stephen Lacey in his Greentech Media days, through The Energy Gang to this podcast, I’ve found just what I need to stay up to date for my job. And it’s way more fun!

Hostility to Carbon Fees
I was very happy when the three of you got back together for Open Circuit. I’ve been a listener since your Energy Gang days and continue to enjoy that show as well. I’m old enough to remember the oil shocks of the ‘70’s and the profound effects they had in reducing demand for fossil energy - leading even to an oil glut in the 80’s and the capping of thousands of wells in the US during that time. See EIA Energy Facts Explained. Which is why I continue to be disappointed in and perplexed by all three of your hostility to carbon fees as a solution to climate change. I don’t believe we will ever seriously address the problem until we reduce demand for fossil energy, and that cannot take place as long as it is cheap and abundant. Only carbon fees can adequately address fossil fuel demand.

Required listening for the energy industry
I have been an avid listener of this podcast and its predecessor for over a decade. This is the place for the real time pulse on the energy industry, every week. Katherine, Jigar, and Stephen provide a balanced trifecta of hot and thoughtful takes. The industry would be directionless without them.

Makes work entertaining
As an ex-utility employee and now consultant in the demand side management industry, this stuff is my job. And I wouldn’t be nearly as good at my job without the insights and background I get from open circuit and before that the energy gang (along with other industry publications, who I won’t mention here since this isn’t about them). On top of that they make it fun, and always interesting. Even when I don’t agree with one of Jigar’s hot takes, and especially when I don’t agree actually, my brain is always ticking when I listen.

The Gang reunited, one of my go to energy podcasts
In a world where everything feels like it’s falling apart, it’s great to come back to these three that feel like old friends to me after listening to them for so long. Their friendship is touching and the dialogue is solid. I’ve learned a lot from these three about industry topics for my job. I like when they bring in guests on key topics. Jigar wanted constructive feedback in the review, so I’d say, look for the grey area sometimes. It’s not always black and white. I do enjoy the sassiness though, so maybe don’t change a thing 😀

Valuable discussion for all energy nerds
Jigar won’t read this but I love this podcast. I push new episodes to the top of my (very long) podcast playlist because Open Circuit provides new angles on current topics that I might not have considered. Keeps me informed and pushes my thinking.

Incredible podcast with inside knowledge
The podcast for any non expert to learn the WHY and how we are at a breaking point - electricity prices are a voting issue now and solution is to break the peak cycle prices via storage (see Texas this past summer as best in class in America) - monopoly utilities have no choice - invest accordingly

Best in Class

Right?!
I enjoy the subject matter & dialogue. Don’t always agree and that is a good thing. That means I’m on a learning track. But, I have to take a break and calm down after every 25th time a certain person ends his sentence with “right?” To say it another way, the 21st century form of the Valley Girl up note detracts from his incredible knowledge and expertise. My frailty won’t impact my rating, however, the show gets 5 stars

The Energy Podcast You Need
The co-host trio is fantastic, the guests are passionate and interesting, and even the ads are mission aligned. This energy podcast gives humor and actionable ideas as the panel share updates on the policy landscape, give insights into the technology ecosystem, and package content into engaging conversations. Open Circuit is smart, fiery, and well worth the time.

Must listen to this Pod if you are in the energy and climate industries
This is one of the most insightful and informative pods on energy and climate. I listen every week I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years and I learn a lot from every episode. Thank you Stephen, Katherine and Jigar for sharing your knowledge and talents with us.

It’s the OG Energy Gangsters!
Maybe more US policy- than tech- and business- focused, but really fresh perspectives on all things energy transition-related. This is on my podcast short list.

Love you jigar, thank you for making energy dominance bankable

THRILLED the gang is back together!!
I have missed the perspective of these three desperately since they left the energy gang. They provide hands down the most insightful and interesting commentary on the energy landscape, which is badly needed, especially in this political environment. Beyond thrilled to have this back in my podcast line-up!

I’m excited to have this fun group back together again. They’ve been off making huge impacts elsewhere and now is a critical time to have their thoughtful, provocative, and experienced debate and leadership on the energy transition! Grateful long time listener

Clean Energy Info-tainment
Most informed and entertaining team in the clean energy podcast space. Fingers crossed the transition to renewables isn’t slowed down too much by the new administration, but there’s a thin silver lining with the Energy Gang getting back together.
