In today's Daily Fix:For years Resident Evil 5 has been the series' best-selling game, with a little over 19 million copies sold. Now the Resident Evil 2 remake has overtaken it, with around 19.75 million units. Across the entire series, the games have sold over 213 million copies worldwide. In other news, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is swinging toward a massive opening weekend domestically, with projections placing it in the $180-$190 million range. And that's among the more conservative estimates. In today's Daily Fix:The pushback from fans over Sony's decision to kill physical media in a couple of years could lead to a one-week boycott. The social media account, Does It Play?, is proposing a one-week 'economic and gameplay blackout' starting Sunday, August 23rd at 7pm local time. No signing onto PSN, no turning on your PS5, no playing Sony games on Steam, etc. The post is gaining traction on X, with more than 1 million views so far. In other news, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Final Fantasy XIV will take up a whopping 117GB of internal space. This will increase next year, when the latest expansion drops. In today's Daily Fix:A lawsuit aims to force Nintendo to share its tariff refunds to customers who bought a Switch 2. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled some of President Trump's tariffs illegal, which means the extra fees Nintendo paid to ship the Switch 2 and other hardware to the U.S. could be returned. But Nintendo isn't required to pass those refunds on to customers. In today's Daily Fix:Director Christopher Nolan's latest blockbuster is sailing past box office expectations with a $264 million dollar global opening weekend. This exceeds Nolan's previous record-holder, The Dark Knight Rises, which earned $249 million on opening weekend in 2012. The Odyssey cost nearly $400 million to produce and market, but it might not have to go on a odyssey of its own to recoup that money. In other news, Ryan Reynolds has ideas for Deadpool 4, and believes he's done doing solo Deadpool movies. After Deadpool & Wolverine made over $1 billion in theaters worldwide, Reynolds and Disney probably want to team him up with as many heroes as possible. In today's Daily Fix:It's been almost nothing but bad news for Xbox and its subsidiaries ever since CEO Asha Sharma announced the great and terrible Xbox reset of 2026. But there is some silver lining to all of the chaos: Bethesda Studios head Todd Howard has announced a roadmap for the company's IP including Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield. Confirmed are remakes of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and the next mainline game, Fallout 5, is in development. But right now their biggest priority is The Elder Scrolls 6, which we've seen nothing of save for a teaser trailer back in 2018. In other gaming adjacent news, the God of War live-action series encountered a major setback when star Ryan Hurst suffered a torn bicep and will need to be recast. Apparently the recovery time will be too long and his 12-year-old co-star Callum Vinson will likely have aged noticeably enough for the footage not to match. And finally, we have this week's latest gaming releases.

In today's Daily Fix:Grand Theft Auto 6 went up for preorder a few weeks ago, and it's already sold $260 million worth of early purchases. According to analysts at Newzoo, the game is on track to hit between $3 and $5 billion dollars in the first week. Yes, that's BILLIONS of dollars in sales in Week 1. By comparison, GTA 5 made $1.15 billion in its first week at a lower price point than GTA 6 will be launched at. In other news, a player in AC Black Flag Resynced accidentally found the treasure in an upcoming in-game event, causing Ubisoft to cancel the event, while praising that player's treasure-hunting skills. And finally, an in-person Pokémon Go event in New York saw attendees sell their rare Mewtwos for thousands of dollars on eBay, much to the disgust of many fans.
