Perfection
Forever DM here. I love watching and listening to TTRPG content as it’s the closest I get to playing without prep. I just finished Season 1 and it may be the best campaign I have ever heard. It has been a privilege and I cannot wait to continue this journey which has warmed my heart to tears, made me laugh, and inspired me.

I am spoiled for all other APs
Truly, WBN sets the standard for what story-forward ttrpg actual play shows should be. I am spoiled for all others. Thank you for bringing more beauty of story into the world. Bonus: I actually met my current tabletop group because of this show!

Excellent + responding to reviews
So so good. Yes, it’s dramatic, yes Brennan goes deep on lore and imagery. I loved it. In the small amount of 1stars, you’ll see criticisms of Erika and Aabria’s vocalizations in the mic…didn’t notice, or thought it made me feel like I was at a table w friends. You’ll also see criticisms of Aabrias character... During the show I thought “wow, what a bold choice to be so true to a character”. If you read opening interviews ahead of the show, before it was launched, you’ll see tha Aabria knew she was choosing a real rep example of the world they were creating. I think it was a great artistic choice. I want to keep listening!

*chefs kiss* Now THATS what I call storytelling!
Okay so for 2025, one of my big goals was to read more books, specifically because I had been craving a good fantasy with strong characters and world building…I did not make my reading goal BECAUSE of this podcast. Everything I’d been craving from a good book…well developed characters, a vast world I could lose myself in, thoughtful storytelling that really made me THINK…I was able to get from this humble show. It’s clear how much thought and care is put into each and every episode, you won’t regret giving this a listen!

YES Is A Good Band
AI has absolutely no place in podcasts
Very sad to see that AI is used in the production of this show… long time listener but can’t in good conscience support any entertainment that uses AI to do their work. Hire people who can work and think for themselves. Absolutely unacceptable and sad to see the direction this and other shows are going.

First hour was nice and then it wore me down
Amazing production quality, but a lot feels overdramatized and emotionally super saturated, as if every scene needs to be so momentous as to warrant a kind of breathy and gushy over delivery. Reminds me of high school theatre rehearsals

Very captivating
The story is absolutely captivating, so much so that I found myself listening to the podcast at every opportunity I had. I was so enthralled by the characters that I was moved to tears at numerous points!

Slow burn
Absolutely brilliant. I prefer to wait until an entire arc is out because there's so much detail I'm want to forget what's happening if I wait weeks between episodes. It's well worth the wait!

When’s the next season/book
Suvi and Ame (not the actors, just the characters) pmo but the story is so worth it!

Absolute Best
I understand how some people can’t continue because Suvi was so abrasive in the beginning. Power through it. Seriously. I listen to the entire podcast and then start over and re-listen over and over again. They are such wonderful storytellers! And subscribe to the fireside too! Hearing the “why” is such a help understanding Suvi’s story- basically Abria is a genius.

Such excellent storytelling
I’m so glad I found out about this podcast, it’s become an immediate favorite not only for me but also for my daughter — we have a great time listening and talking through all of the adventures and what our favorite characters are up to. I have definitely cried multiple times, laughed out loud, and gasped “oh no!!”, while I listen, and I keep turning to this podcast when I have listening time. Excellent storytelling and soundscape, love the story and can’t wait to see where it all goes. (Thank you to MK England for mentioning the podcast in the acknowledgements for Roll for Love!)

None better
The production quality is incredible. There is an immersive soundscape on top of incredible performances from the players and Brennan. I have never gone back to re-listen to an entire podcast series before. Perfection!

Cinematic mastery in improvised storytelling
If any or all of this show is adapted to the screen, the world will be better for it.

Awe-some storytelling
Amazing— if you love rich worlds, high fantasy, unexpected laughter/sobbing, and immersive music and sound, you will like this podcast. It is one of my favourite things. Thank you to all who work on this beautiful project!

My god!!!! This is good
I cried three time one the first episode Season one was amazing. Season two starting off a bit rough, only due to the insane amount of stammering. I understand these people are acting in the moment, but just pause. No one on this planet stammers this much.

Incredible
Some of the most impressive DND playing you can find. So well put together, and you can tell these people are at their best at both improv storytelling and DND playing. An incredible listen and well worth your time

Yes, Good.
I am having so much fun listening. This is my first experience with any D&D type games. I always wanted to play but am not creative enough. I feel like I’m in the room with them, laughing out loud.

Best thing ever
I love this podcast so much. It is the best. Brennan is amazing. He’s a great narrator. I love Mimi and 2V/Erica and Lou is amazing. He’s just great. He’s funny. I love her on and he’s inspired me to play dungeons and dragons. Myself. I am going to play dungeons and dragons soon. I hope you read this Brennan. I hope you read this Papa. I hope you read this Erica. I hope you read this. Love you are my idol.

Top Tier
These are storytellers at the top of their games, with relationships built to the point where they know how to build off of one another seamlessly no matter what hurdles get thrown. I listen to stories in every medium, every single day. This is one of the finest stories I have ever heard, period, and I’m so happy that these artists get to get paid and widely appreciated for it.

Not for me
I don't know any of these people, but with all the talk around them I had to check this out. I'm not a D&D person (I prefer rules light indie RPGs), but I don't hold the system against them because it's barely used. But the GM suffers from the idea of "more words = better words." Don't get me wrong, the words are pretty. But they take up a lot of time and space, far more than anybody else's. I also didn't like how he would dictate character thoughts and actions, like "you interact with this flowery bit of the world I described," or "you have this thought about something in the world" (why is the GM telling the player how their character reacts to seeing their own reflection?) I don't know if it ever happens in a plot critical way, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a railroad under all those rose petals. But my biggest issue is it doesn't feel fun. There's no joy in the descriptions, no sense of discovery, no spirit of collaboration. Everything feels wrote, laid out, predetermined. It feels like "people who are good at playing D&D got together to play D&D and now it's their job to play D&D." I didn't get a sense of anybody's personality, player or character. It's like they were also listening to an audio fiction podcast, except their reactions got recorded. And the biggest reaction getter was the GM teasing possibility that their characters might actually meet and get to talk with each other. I know podcastas can take time to find their footing, so I jumped ahead 20 epispdes just to see how the vibe was. And it was exactly the same, all 3 characters in different places having things described to them. Maybe that was a coincidence and the players do get to say and do things, but I'm not sticking around to find out. My criteria for RPG podcasts is "would I want to be at this table?" And for this one my answer is mercifully brief: no.

Fantastic.
Never understood the appeal of actual play podcasts before listening to this one. The acting is so great and heartfelt, the sound design is terrific, and I love the enthusiasm of the players for each other’s choices/dangers/triumphs. More! More!

I wanted to like this so bad
I gave it 25 episodes but wow I could not stand Suvi. Just incredibly insufferable. I enjoy Aabria in other media but dang, this was rough. Lessen the amount of sighs, gasps, forced confrontation, and general grasps for attention. Let other players shine. The music was sometimes too much, sound effects were over the top. I’ll stick to Dimension 20 and NADDPOD. At least this is better than TAZ, but not by much.

Masterpiece
When you talk about medium or form of art, you tend to eventually bring up the masterpieces, the things that define a genre or style. WBN is that, and then some. I’ve consumed stories since I was old enough to read, and it is one of the true joys in my life. This rocked my entire being. I have never audibly gasped, cried, collapsed as many times as I have for this tale with anything else in my lifetime. Truly a revolutionary work of art and love and friendship, all tied together in a form that will leave you speechless week after work. Brennan, Aabria, Erika, Lou and Taylor week after week top themselves in ways I didn’t know was possible. There is no limit to the amount of starts I’d give this, and 5 simply is not enough, and never will be. All of the stars in the night Sky is the least that this production deserves. Thank you all so much for letting us listen to you pour your heart into a story that truly deserves to be one of the greats of all time.

Insane. Best narrative podcast I’ve ever touched. Don’t get bogged down in early episodes - this boy BUILDS.

Wow
Episode 52…WTH?!? I love this show.
Seeker and Runner
The gasping ruins it
I love all of the cast and I wanted to like this, but there is constant shuddering, cooing, squealing, sighing from Erica and Aabria that is really distracting. It’s like bad ASMR. I haven’t noticed that they do this in other campaigns so idk if it’s the mics or what but I had to stop after 6 episodes. Also I know Aabria is playing her as a flawed character but I cannot stand Suvi… Will just stick to Dimension 20!

A Hidden Masterpiece
If you thought these performers were good in Critical Roll, Dimension 20, or wherever else you saw them, this show will blow your mind. It is hands down the best D&D show I’ve watched in terms of production quality, emotional beats, and narration. The performers know how to play off each other very well. That said, you must be ready to listen to flawed main characters. Some people express frustrations with the limitations of the main characters at the start of the book: Ursilon’s cowardice, Ame’s naïveté, Suvi’s ignorance. These characters are not flawless superheroes. Expect them to make mistakes, and to learn. It’s part of the story :)

You’ll Have To Get Suvi
The show is beautifully written. The world is well built. The characters are funny and endearing. Except Suvi. I can’t. After everything she’s heard and seen.. she keeps choosing the institution that is killing people, spirits, willing to kill here friends for power.

Critical Role w/ sound design
If like me you found WBN in a period of no critical role to listen to, do urself a favor and dive in NOW. I’ve tried some other dnd shows but I’m picky; Brennan is a revelation as DM, and the cast are hilarious and bold. Honestly WBN might be better than Critical Role as a podcast because the post-pro sound design adds a lot of depth to the storytelling. Very immersive, funny, and rich.

Not for me
Lou Wilson steals the show but after 23 episodes of Suvi’s gaslighting I had to call it quits.

If a cup of hot cocoa were a podcast
This show is a warm blanket wrapped around your shoulders as you sit next to a crackling fireplace. Brennan and the cast have a strong commitment to maintaining a sense of wonder in their storytelling. The characters are rich and committed to taking the story seriously (very little of the typical D&D shenanigans happens), but there is still plenty of levity and moments of humor and laughter. Unlike some other big D&D shows, this one is edited slightly (to remove players muttering about where on their character sheet the stealth skill lives), with scoring and sound effects added to fully immerse you in the story of it all. The result is a sweet mug of hot chocolate of a podcast that begs you to devour it instantly, but you force yourself to wait for the perfect moment to sit, sip, and savor the sounds as they envelop you in a joyful escape to the world these wonderful people have created together.

Storytelling for Everyone
My friends love stories. Some of my friends love DND. Everyone to whom I recommended this podcast loves it and in the last episode alone, I laughed, cried, and pumped my fist. Rich characters, compelling themes, and an excellent soundtrack make this the best podcast I’ve ever heard.

Beautiful
This is easily the most beautiful podcast I’ve listened to. I can’t help but have vivid imaginations of their battle scenes and their day-to-day life because of how simply detailed everything is, my only complaint is how long they take to upload the next episode!

Stellar

Heart Pounding
I am so emotionally invested in this story and it’s characters. Almost every episode is high stakes and gives me so much anxiety that sometimes I need to take a break, and I mean that in the best way possible. Starting off at level 0 with the children’s campaign is absolute creative genius. A shining golden example of why real play storytelling is here to stay.
