This podcast is full of indulgent pompous rambling. It deliberately stokes fear with inflammatory headlines and commentary. Rarely have I heard wise perspective — just outrage at everything. Jon’s interview with Jo Grady was poorly-researched, one-sided, inflammatory, sexist, and cheap. I’ve lost trust in Jon to lead a thoughtful, fair interview. I am disappointed by Jon Sopel especially, and the entire epodcast

I like that they are not obviously pro this or pro that, and try to critically look at both.

I am American. I find these three to be outstanding news agents (see what I did there?!) to explain the Unexplainable that constitutes current events. Today’s episode (March 31) was especially sage. Their collective interpretations of the devastating impact current administration’s actions was unparalleled. And their discussion of the impact of Israel’s latest new law was piercing. My thanks to all of you.

If you really want to know what the world thinks of what we’re doing, listen to these guys! Impressive experience, perspective and comic timing and just enough snark to keep it all interesting. “Matt GPT“? Top-tier.

By airing this paid for propagandist in the name of “both sides,” Lewis further affirms his title as a Hack for Duh Donald, Duh Tories, Nigel & Deformed, Brexit, and, most certainly, Duh Land of Duh Chosen People of Duh Kahane Zionist Master Race, LLC.

My bride and I have lived and worked in the US for 40 years and we have loved this show until the recent push to the Left. In particular I am very concerned about the coverage of ICE activities in Minneapolis. Let’s be clear, the electorate gave DT a mandate to do something about illegal immigration. And ICE is doing exactly that. The whistle blowing do gooders are impeding their lawful actions of detaining illegal aliens and processing their deportation. Am I missing something here, surely the British people want the same thing done to illegals in the UK?

The reviews that talk about them being left leaning, biased, not journalists, blah blah blah are off the mark. They ARE journalists, but this is a podcast, not a nightly news reporting show. In this role, they are analyzing, not doing straight reporting. They are using their years of experience and knowledge. They are intelligent, personable, and insightful.

Trump was not convicted of withholding anything from Ukraine. Even though the House impeached him the Senate cleared him of those ridiculous charges. Your audience deserves better reporting. Thanks!

It is interesting to hear Tina Brown talk about truth in journalism, when she has taken every opportunity lately to be biased, racist and consistent in sharing disinformation about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. As a woman of color I can’t believe how she discusses the Duchess in such a demeaning way, that she would never speak about Kate Middleton. We need people in journalism that will look at all sides and provide balance coverage without fear or favor. Tina does not do this when it comes to Meghan. Therefore, I cannot take any advice about being a reliable journalist from her!

Maitlis’ analysis is delirium in the extreme, where does she get this utter nonsense from? She cheerleads Carney for blaming Trump and suggests that if Reeves did likewise that would be valid form of politics, diplomacy, w/e you would like to call it. It strikes me if Rishi rich or Liz Untrust tried the same, assuming they were in this circumstance, she wouldn’t be so empathetic to the plight of the cabinet or promoting finger pointing to another nation for the perceived malaise the UK seems to find itself in. This isn’t to say that Trumps policy isn’t inextricably linked to economic conditions around the world, but it’s just another diabolical example of severe bias. This is coming from a left leaning listener and writer but this is just bizarre and all to frequent from Maitlis.

All 3 of them present themselves as journalists. This is false. They are far left activists.

Whether they are discussing UK politics or the US variety, these hosts are always lively - and worth the listen. They also do excellent interviews with newsmakers, and never let politicians off the hook.

Insightful, interesting and they address specific issues and then expand the discussion to give a broader view of how that issue effects the UK and the world. Plus - the hosts have great chemistry.

So I went down the rabbit hole and watched an episode of News Agents which had popped up on my feed. I learned about the new limited series of Scandal and quickly binged it this weekend. This led me back to read up on the journalists and do a few more episodes of the podcast. Although I’m pretty burnt out on the royal family, it’s really like the train wreck you can’t stop watching. Sopel isn’t terrible, though he clearly leans left. He occasionally offers good political analysis. Goodall is incapable of understanding why anyone would ever disagree with him. Maitlis is genuinely insufferable. Self-serious and daft, she rarely contributes anything of interest to the discussion. All three are absolutely wretched on American politics, for what it’s worth.

I listened to the News Agents for UK news, but if the investigating and reporting is the same analysis provided for US news, then it’s rubbish. Lewis and Emily appear to only review memes and headlines to report on conservative US politics. It makes the News Agents nothing more than The View with a posh English accent. I’ll have to be content with fake news with an American accent. I don’t have the patience to tolerate English ignorance and narrow mindedness.

An easy way to keep up with British politics. Pretty good.

A good cynical look at the current state of affairs outside of the 30 second, 5 word sound bites we so often get spoon fed. I would wonder if we could get Lewis a lapel mic for his little asides we so often loose in the final mix.

Thank you so much for creating a go-to podcast that has interesting guests, in-depth analysis, and - yes - just a bit of mutual teasing. While all three podcasters have high profiles, your podcast is not about you. It’s about the news. (Dating myself) at times, your show makes me feel like I’m back in the newsroom at The Cherwell, surrounded by impassioned, witty news hounds. Much appreciated!

Around the world, including in Germany, Brazil and South Africa, Trump and associates’ thefts, COVID-19 deaths and his Republican Party’s deadly coup attempt on 1/6/21 would land him and them in prison. Instead of acknowledging this reality, these hosts give a platform to a lying Trump surrogate and express undeserved sympathy for Trump who for the first time has a slight chance of facing consequences for decades of crimes. They also describe tacky Mar-a-Lago as if it’s a gathering place for high society. It’s not. Mar-a-Lago is a grift

Is it possible to be “audicted” to a podcast? It’s 1:27pm EST on March 14 and I keep checking my phone to see if the Tuesday Ep of The News Agents has dropped. Each time I see it hasn’t, I start to feel withdrawal symptoms. Please drop, please drop now, I need my daily fix of Maitless, Sopes, and Lewis! (Does Lewis have a nickname? If not, he needs one!)

Lewis, that was some pretty shoddy journalism. You kept firing questions at the man without waiting for an answer! It was incredibly frustrating to listen to and honestly, your interview style was a bit cringeworthy. It was almost as if you were desperately trying to push some kind of agenda to smear the character of a stalwart man of principle with spurious claims and hot- button media issues!

As a British expat who’s lived in New York for 20 years and is now living in a different country outside the UK, I value your contributions to international journalism. I’d do read and listen to the ‘usual suspect’ British media that I suspect most of your listeners also do. But I look to you three for a POV that’s (I like to think) unshackled by iffy governmental constraints or the need to not offend advertisers. PS. Glad that you changed your intro. As others have said already, we know who you are.

Maybe even worse than NPR

I started out loving this podcast but decided it’s only when all 3 of you are on together, that it’s the best. The Prince Andrew interview where Emily literally CRUSHED him on a global scale was one of the best interviews I’ve ever witnessed!! She is a star! Lewis invited Katie Nicholl on as a royal expert to talk about poor little Harry which is a joke! Lewis was very disrespectful, unkind, rude and pushy toward Katie. She is a seasoned pro and is used to handling buffoons but there was no need for Lewis to treat her that way. It was a bad look and I have the feeling that IF Emily had been there, the interview would’ve been handled in a much more respectful way. Be better Lewis.

Thank you Peter Hunt for your insight. Katie Nichols shouldn’t talk about Harry, she is another one who uses the fake leakers. I’m glad that Harry told it all so The Institution has nothing left to hold over him. Katie is too close to the Royals. Charles & William LEAKED their versions for YEARS to the media.

Loved the show initially as a convert from Americast previously. But they’ve really lost the way of being quirky and reflective on the news and issues and just fell into the same old pisspoor diatribe as most higher end left/center media. I’m sure they’ll win some Guardian reader prize for their brave campaigning but it’s just become a tiresome listen. So much potential wasted on being the same sanctimonious preachers as everywhere else. I’ll just skip the episodes with Lewis on his own and see if that’s the problem.

As a twice expat, Brit to Australia then to the USA, I loved Americast, but having lived in NYC for the last 15 years, I really appreciate now having this exacting analysis on British politics. I miss the Zurch. It’s weird to have the Andrew/Trump VO on the intro, seems like a left over from the last podcast and, sorry guys, get over it.

As an Englishman living now permanently in the United States, I often ask myself what do I miss about the land where I grew up. Well, it is not the beer, the fish and chips or the daily newspapers used to wrap the previous item. The beaches are as beautiful here. But I would say up until about 2015 (ish) it was the BBC. More the radio than they television. While I have struggled with editorial and funding issues I continued to use my Sonos speakers to tune in to news, especially the world service. I was especially troubled by the more recent appointment of Richard Sharp as chairman. When you have brushed up alongside him in the workplace, you know you don’t want him changing the filter of our news machine every day. He is trouble, and government is playing a game. Which leads me to this new offering I have been following from the initial broadcast. I love living in America, it is a wonderful home for my family, but some days the news coverage via print, digital, cable and so on is simply ghastly. So back to the missing and I suppose the lacking ingredient is news coverage. Thank you for Emily, Jon and Lewis for stepping in to fill this void in careful and thoughtful coverage. I’m in! Possibly the best thing about having this excellent service on Podcast is that I can choose when to tune in. I can walk the dog listening, broadcast while cooking, have it playing in the home office sorting the paperwork out, even take the news agents team to the gym with me. The coverage in light of HM The Queen’s death has be careful and insightful. Never easy, hard to prepare for. These are rare events. If there’s a positive from any of this turmoil is ditching the introduction where voices of Prince Andrew and Donald Trump are played back. Please, keep up the excellent coverage, please feel no need to revisit the Woking pizza or I know who you are quotes.

Ever since Maitlis and Sopes left the Beeb, there’s been a distinct absence felt - their bonhomie made the sourest news tolerable! Glad they’ve landed with Lewis a brand-new gig, and look forward to getting my daily requirement back on schedule.
