This was a wonderful episode! Who knew there is an official NFL stylist. Great conversation.

Wow - a 7 min United Health infomercial today.
Must be in deep financial trouble as they shamelessly sell their soul to soulless UHC

Sometimes I feel that they’re too smart to be as gullible as they around Bari Weiss. I can’t think of anything she’s done that they’d give her the benefit of the doubt headed into CBS. Also did they see the Erika Kirk interview? She was tossed softball after softball. Can’t believe they said she was “grilled.”

Notre Dame discussion
Love the powers that be but I fear Hamby needs a bigger social circle. He says he doesn’t know anyone who doesn’t think Alabama would “gut” ND head to head. But before the final rankings, oddsmakers had ND favored over Bama (and Oklahoma and Miami too) on a neutral field. Also, ND had better odds than Bama to win the whole thing. Unfortunately, the committee left the hottest team in the country (except perhaps Indiana) out of the playoff. It’s a shame.

Listen for Julia and Bill, Leave the Rest
Julia Ioffe and Bill Cohan are always informative and insightful guests. The rest is self-aggrandizing navel gazing for yuppies, by yuppies.

CBS Cable was launched in 1980
On the Oct. 4 Powers That Be, I believe Peter Hamby said something to the effect, “CBS never had a cable channel.” In fact, CBS was the first broadcast network to launch a cable channel, in 1980, called CBS Cable, although it lasted only about one year. Unrelated, although the episode was billed as The Powers That Be, what played on the podcast was The Grill Room, with No mention of The Powers That Be.

Complete and total silence on this podcast about the Kimmel situation. Are you kidding me? Unsubscribing immediately.

Insufferable
Not sure who is more insufferable — Peter or John H but my god, have either of you been on the ground in VA or NJ or the town halls going on? Stop talking to your Twitter jerk circle and get out of NYC-LA-DC loop. People care about affording groceries, rent, health care, and the disorder, disarray, corruption of Trump making us poorer, sicker, and less safe. Please stop repeating R talking points and framing them as a Dem problem. You’ve been doing this since 2016. And tell John H to stop licking his lips, swallowing or get a less sensitive mic, he’s unlistenable because of this

Implement quality control when using AI editing
Half of the time these guys are just phoning it in and are just dribbling out confirmation bias and calling it insight. The other half they are just repeating what other people already reported on.

MSNBC/progressive view
Puck obviously a leftist outlet, take what you read skeptically until it shifts. But there are a some very good reporters like Peter.

Start my day
Definitely a good way to start my day with some insightful topics/conversations. One of my daily must listens.

Intern posting for y’all
It is so funny. I think you guys don’t realize there is an intern or somebody that keeps posting draft episodes. I assume they are correcting the mistake before anybody else notices.

Chevron ads are cringe
The “Gulf of America” reference during the Chevron ads reflect poorly on Puck. It’s unnecessarily partisan. I get that Chevron might have incentives to do so, but for Puck as a news source it really leaves a polarizing impression. I feel that Puck’s actual editorial is quite thoughtful in comparison, so there’s a mismatch there.

It’s the Gulf of Mexico
I love this and listen every day. Recently, they’ve been airing Chevron ads that talk about their drilling in the Gulf of America. Given the audience, someone needs to tell Chevron to knock that off, if they know what’s good for them.

clueless hacks
Spineless, toothless neolib nothingness, so depressing what stands for political journalism these days. Stick to Hollywood, boys.

One of the best episodes
Really enjoy this podcast. Peter’s discussion 2/25/25 with Julie was one of the best discussions (re Ukraine), could’ve listened to an hour more. Well done.

Guys who think they know everything but don’t
Such dismissiveness over serious reporting in favor of Hollywood stories and rumors about who’s sleeping with whom in the news community makes me wonder how different this crew is from the rags displayed for the bored housewives and househusbands at supermarket exits.

Peter is really good…
But why does it seem like he has the same guest on his show that sounds like the same person with a different name? Oliver Darcy, Jon Kelly, Eriq Gardner, etc… all have the same voice literally. Love Peter’s takes and informative reporting.

I love Bill Cohan!
He’s awesome

Thank You Bill Cohan [and Peter] for speaking up!
I’ve been too exhausted by the cartoonish turn our country took Monday. Thank you for giving a spot-on voice to how I [and I suspect about alf the country] am feeling.

Good guests, but
This could be a great listen. They get very good guests who have interesting analysis, but the host destroys it. He takes forever to ask a question, and then usually tries to answer it himself first, or show off about how much he knows, before ever letting the guest speak. He digresses endlessly with cynical asides, or lame attempts at humor, and then punctuates his interminable monologues with a dozen smug giggles. I am so happy Cohan essentially told him today to grow up by responding that Hamby’s questions were not serious.

Peter is deeply unfunny
"as a reminder" is a stupid way to introduce your show credits. It doesn't make sense. Otherwise the show is another media circle jerk.

Good but chill on the theme music
Pretty good show but man they over play the he’ll out of their theme music…. You don’t need to play it before and after each ad break. This drives me nuts.

Waste of time….
1) Puck missed the Biden rain dead story. 2) Puck ignored the R convention. 3) Puck said Musk was in financial trouble after buying Twitter. ( his net worth has tripled) 4) Puck was all in on Harris. Don’t waste your time. Total joke.

The expert Guest says that they don’t know?
I just spent 30 minutes listening to an expert say that Trump is unpredictable and so he has no idea what might happen. Thanks for the invaluable insight!!!

Another liberal one sided podcast
Just what the world needed, another liberally slanted podcast on politics and current events. The host doesnt really sound plugged and his guests on politics seem to get their sources, talking points, and framing of issues, political races, current events from the left of center. There are already dozens of podcasts where you can hear the same thing.

Don’t waste your time
Really lazy reporting, always very late to a story, and just an awful host who does scant to no research.

Generally solid
Just finished listening to the post-debate show -would have been much better if someone wasn’t eating while talking. Needless to say, it was distracting and unprofessional.

Love the Show; Endure Hanby’s mispronunciations
Really do love this podcast as part of my daily morning. I’m wishing Peter Hanby will learn how to pronounce Schadenfreude…. Hard to believe that wasn’t pounced on during his Vanity Fair years.
Witty Reference
Lazy propaganda
It’s lazy, not even compelling, propaganda. It’s distinctly left, sure, but mainly just Washington blob propaganda.

Not current enough for a daily news podcast
These episodes being recorded hours to days before release has become a problem this past month. Especially the Monday episodes.

Too one sided
I have been listening for a while and tried to give it a chance, but this is too one sided, left leaning. Latest example is Ms Loffe as your expert on how the world views the US and Biden / Trump? The world fears Trump and the end of democracy in the US and elsewhere? She is soo one sided. You need a balanced viewpoint. I travel the world for business and I get about 60-40 saying Biden is an embarrassment and they want Trump or anyone else but Biden, totally the opposite from her supposed reporting.

Rampant biases
This podcast is very left leaning, especially while discussing anything involving US elections. Hamby attempts to dispel whatever the latest Biden gaffe was no matter how desperate or far reaching it may be.

Awful
So glad I did not subscribe to Puck. You glossed over the glaring ethical issues in Will Lewis’ behavior. You call yourselves journalists?

Beezos?
I’m an active subscriber and care deeply about the topics this pod typically covers. However, if you have someone talking about tech and they keep saying “Jeff Beezos,” it’s hard to take anything else seriously.

Consummate Mediocrity
Honestly I don’t know why they bother. To sell a few ads? Clinging to the insider status that all corporate media hacks aspire to while posing as outsider upstarts. Episodes are too short to contain any insight yet they feel too long. I’m almost relieved when the obnoxious ads run.

Good content. Poor host.
I’ve listened to most episodes of this podcast and find the guests very informative, but the host has become increasingly smug and grating. I find myself skipping it more and more.

Bad on Israel
Reflexively pro-Palestinian. A slap in the face of those of us who can remember all the way back to October 7th and who started the events in Gaza. Idk if Puck News are staffed by anti-Semites, but the resulting coverage is unquestionably anti-Semitic. Unfollowing.

Julia I is incredible
The most straightforward, smart and honest journalist anywhere let alone on Puck. Agree with comments re: the host of TPTB. I just fast forward during his portions.

Once or twice a week it’s worthwhile…
Imagine an intersection of Hollywood, Wall Street, Silicon Valley and Washington. There’s a cafe on each corner. Puck hangs out in the Hollywood cafe 3 to 4 days per week. Not completely without interest, but it’s media types talking about media types. Most of the considerable talent at Puck doesn’t get enough exposure on this show. Julia Ioffe, Tina Nguyen, Bill Cohan and Baratunde Thurston need to be on more. Those are the episodes where I get information that sheds new light.

The hosts and guests of this podcast were obviously come from the same Ivy League/media elite circles and the guests never challenge the worldview of the hosts. Skip any episode about Israel/Gaza.

Varsity Blues
Bill Ackman may be outspoken and often hyperbolic but the issues surrounding Dr. Gay are serious and matter a great deal to the university’s standing and academia reputation. The conversation made much less of concerns over her tenure, qualifications and performance than it did criticizing Mr. Ackman’s for speaking out about it. If the Harvard Board is continuing to support Dr. Gay, even in part, because of what a hedge fund manager says, that is clearly not acceptable. It also gives the impression he has more influence than he actually has ‘in real life’. The Board needs to make it abundantly clear, that for better or for worse, their support is not beholding to high-profile constituents, donors, or DEI criteria. Hopefully, integrity still matters. Time will tell if Harvard maintains its stature and prominence - a glib analysis doesn’t adequately assess the possibility of real damage.

Strange giggling while discussing deadly serious topics… paper-thin, drive-by analysis of complex businesses… constant self-congratulation… that’s the “inside scoop that only Puck” offers? You could probably learn more watching CNBC for 15 minutes. Waste of time.

The Ivy League Presidents testify on C-Span
Like so much of Puck, many of its reporters need to focus on more than a snippet of a story that reinforce their hip/contrary worldview. Take the time to watch the entire 3 hours of the Ivy League Presidents’ testimony before the House Committee, particularly that of the hypocritical (Great Replacement Theory) Elise Stefanik. It may make a dent in some of your not fully informed suppositions.

What happened to this podcast?
Why hasn’t Tara had an A block appearance for four months, yet she’s all over TV? She’s a premium talent for Puck. She should be front and center weekly.
