According to Webster Dictionary, Nostalgia is defined as a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period....
Many of us relate nostalgia with interactive relationships we've had throughout our lives; first boyfriend/girlfriend, first time you met your best friend, marriage etc... Which is accurate as well. However, we tend to leave out those nostalgic moments we had with food.
Have you ever thought about why you reflect upon a past experience when eating a favorite food, cooking a favorite dish, or dining at a favorite restaurant? Have you ever thought about it as if it was your first time? In actuality, it has a lot to do with the Psychology of food. Psychology tells us that the way we think, exudes the way we behavior which is evoked by our emotions. It's not by accident, incident, or coincidence that we favor a certain dish, restaurant, or meal over another. It's because the job of our brain is to work on our behalf to reserve experiences into our short- and long-term memories, to provide an opportunity to reflect upon them as needed. Food, even in bad times brings happiness to our palates and allows us to form new memories.
No matter where I dine, if grits is an option on the menu, I will choose this option for the memories I have from childhood enjoying my mom's grits and eggs. Those moments during my childhood brings joy to my heart, as I reflect on the fond memories with my mom and family.....oh to be a child again.
The next time you are enjoying your favorite food; stop and reflect. I promise you; food nostalgia is a real thing my friend.
Share your last nostalgic moment with food.

So excited to have this conversation with our three "grown" daughters, Dana, Celeste, and Arielle. We always enjoy having an open dialogue just about anything, of course not without a little friction from time to time, but when it's good, it's good. We are approaching the Easter Season, which has always found a special place in my heart, not only because of my faith, but the traditions, family time, and great food explorations. In this episode, my daughters and I reflect on those Easter Sunday preparations as children, shared similarities, and the path to maintaining wholesome connections and staying true to who we are as a family of faith and food.

This episode will be a little longer than future episodes as my husband and I offer up a full-plated discussion on our Bread Pudding Love Story. The conversation overflowed into several closings:-). Stay connected to the conversation!
Starting a new relationship of any kind can be difficult, but growing it can be just as challenging. Like any great entree', there are ingredients that are provided as strong recommendations. Then there are those ingredients that we add or subtract along the way to please our palates. Yes, you get it! So it is with relationships.
In this episode, my Special Guest, my husband Chef Jerry Moore, Co-owner of Geechie's Southern Style Restaurant in Killeen Texas, stepped away from the kitchen, to delve deep into the mise en place of our Bread Pudding Love Story. #imfull

I have spent a lifetime exploring and interacting with people from all over the world. As a "PK" (Pastor's Kid), I grew up socializing in creative elements that not only lent themselves to highs and lows but were often tied with a knot of good preaching and the practicality of good SOUL food........(pk's get it). As a restauranteur, it grew into igniting palates, relationships, and everything in between.
Follow me on my journey, as I chat with everyday people about their food connections and how food has given them permission to have the conversation while building relationships. No matter your food genre, you will experience bite-size moments of relatable interactions, that are connected by a common denominator that we all know too well.
