Every year for the last two decades I tell people to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not embark on a running program to lose weight, improve their health, get fit, or anything else. 

If you PASSIONATELY LOVE running, then by all means go for it. But that is it. 

It is NOT the best form of exercise, in fact it isn't even a good form of exercise. There are far better ways to accomplish all of the above goals.
