Our guest this week, the amazing April Lund, shared her incredible journey from addict to elite runner in just a few years. April, age 41, recently won the Masters women's race at the USATF Cross Country Championships and will represent the United States with Ben Bruce on 2/19 at the World Masters Athletics Short Course Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, Australia. We caught up with April before she left for Australia, and wow she is a force! In 2015, April was an alcoholic in an abusive relationship. While she had run in high school and briefly in college, she hadn’t run a step in years. With the encouragement of her husband and deep faith, April stopped drinking and used running as a tool in her recovery. She ran her first 5K in 27 minutes in 2015.
