The Chief's Wife: Murder in Gig Harbor
In April 2003, Tacoma Police Chief David Brame shot his estranged wife, Crystal Judson Brame, in a shopping center parking lot in Gig Harbor, Washington, while their 2 young children waited nearby. The homicide set off a state and federal investigation into how a man who failed his very first psychological evaluation ended up running the entire Tacoma Police Department.Crystal was a tiny Tacoma girl who danced ballet and wanted to be a lawyer, and she married into a family where carrying a badge was practically hereditary. What went on inside their gray-shingled house on Eagle Creek Lane involved a stopwatch, an odometer, a bathroom scale, and a 5 dollar hanging plant, and by the end, the neighbor who used to gossip about their Christmas lights was watching the street for the chief of police. This is the story of the people who were warned about David Brame, starting the year he applied for the job.
