Christians in trouble easily become troubled Christians. This first sermon in a series on Philippians examines how Christians in trouble can stand firm in Jesus Christ.

MAKE READY THE WAY. Isaiah 40:3; Matthew 3:1–3 KJV Before God sent His Son, He first sent a voice calling people to prepare their hearts. Isaiah's prophecy was fulfilled through John the Baptist, proving that God's Word never fails. Just as the roads were prepared for the arrival of an earthly king, our hearts must be prepared through repentance, faith, and surrender for the coming of Jesus Christ. This message challenges believers to remove spiritual obstacles, listen to God's voice, and receive Christ as King while His invitation is still extended. It is a timeless call to revival, readiness, and wholehearted devotion to the Savior. God prepares the heart that is willing to receive the King. If God says it once, we should listen. If God says it twice, we should pay even closer attention.

The sermon explores the feeding of the five thousand in John chapter six, emphasizing that Jesus is more than sufficient to meet human needs. It highlights four key discoveries about Christ: His perception of our needs before we recognize them, His ability to use small offerings for great purposes, His provision of abundance beyond expectation, and His ultimate purpose as a spiritual Savior rather than an earthly king. Today in our sermon series on the Westminster Shorter Catechism, we come to question 32 which brings us to a new subdivision in the Catechism. It is true that we often lack an eternal perspective, but it is important to look at the blessing that we have from Christ in this life.
