Juntong was certain that he wanted to do finance growing up.I mean, why else would he have applied to every single finance internship he could find, before University (that's right BEFORE university).And why else would he chase an OCBC commodities summer analyst, and specialise in finance in University.But a chance encounter with a mentor in that very OCBC internship sowed the seeds for his pivot into Tech. Justin is working as an Expert Partner in Bain & Company (at the time of this recording).Justin was always interested in consulting, in fact in his final year in University he was certain that the big 3 consulting companies was his dream.You might think he had a smooth journey since he is in Bain & Company now, but that took 17 years of work.In fact he didn't make it to consulting upon graduating, and was rejected by every consulting firm there is.He started in MLC Limited as an Advertising Campaign Manager, before moving to Young & Rubicam as a Business Manager. After, he really cut his teeth in marketing/advertising in Wunderman where he left as a Regional Account Director. He moved to LinkedIn for a quick stint before entering Facebook. In Facebook he supercharged his learning again, and left as an industry head - CPG, Retail, Travel, Financial Services, Media and Entertainment.That was when he entered Bain & Company as a Vice President, APAC Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Practice Head.
